England Under 16’s lost their final group game of the Montaigu tournament in France

yesterday, but thanks to Goals from Emmanuel Frimpong and Luke Freeman in previous games, England have made the final against France.

Because it was the final game of the group stages, and after having played the first two games within the space of 24 hours, Coach Noel Blake rotated the squad, ensuring that all of the players had started at least one game, which meant all of the Arsenal contingent were either left out, or left on the bench, as the Reserve players had a chance to shine.

Emmanuel Frimpong was rested all together, and Oliver Nicholas spent time in the gym after picking up an injury sustained in the opening group win against Japan, in which Luke Freeman scored England’s final goal on his debut, Freeman joined Right back Sam Byles on the bench.

Byles played 22 minutes, replacing the injured Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, and Luke Freeman got 25 minutes replacing Plymouth Argyle winger Liam Head.

In Group A, France finished top, after two wins and a defeat, so the holders progress through to face England in Montaigu on Monday with a 5pm kick off time.

Young Guns will be updating you with the result shortly after full time.

I like the look of Frimpong, but I wonder what position he will end up playing?

Central midfield, he is very much in the style of Lassana Diarra, but has an eye for a goal.
