Arsenal are set to offer Mexican forward Carlos Vela a brand new contract to keep him at the club until 2012.
Carlos joined Arsenal in November 2005, for a fee of £2.5 million he then penned a five year contract, however due to issues with non-EU citizens playing in England he could not play in a professional game for the Gunners, we then applied to Fifa for an“Exceptional Talent” visa, but the application was turned down.
We then agreed to send the prospect to newly formed link side Celta de Vigo in January 2006 but after making no appearances, Arsenal cancelled the loan in the summer, we then applied again during the summer but after a further rejection, he was shipped out again to UD Salamanca, becoming a firm fans favourite and scoring eight goals as well as making various assists.
At the start of this season, Wenger wanted to make sure Carlos got some real experience before returning for next season’s campaign with Arsenal, so he was sent to La Liga outfit Osasuna, where this term he has been a revelation after being transformed from a striker into a left sided forward, his creative elements as well as predatory instincts have meant he took to the role with ease.
Arsenal boss Wenger is also a big fan of the Mexican and confirmed he will be apart of the first team setup next season.
“We scout him every week when he plays, “He can apply for a passport in March and normally he will start with us next summer.
He will straight away be with the first-team and after that it is up to him to get a place in the side.“I sent him to Spain because he comes from a Mexican culture and it is easier to adapt in Europe. He has what we like here at Arsenal. He is a good passer of the ball and a finisher. He has that intelligent movement with very good technique and great pace.”
Keep up to date with all things Carlos Vela over at Carlos Vela News, Young Guns will be offering reports on Carlos’s progress this season whilst he is on loan at Osasuna in our Loanees Section.

Must be the only player in Arsenal’s history to get a pay rise without kicking a ball for us!
I think fans should be patient with Carlos, it takes established internationals 6 months to adapt so to expect something straightaway would be misguided. He looks a real talent though, and the Spanish media seem to love him.
Agree Steve, i feel when he settles it, he will be a huge player for us, his pace and power, and of course the width that a left footed player will bring.
Great stuff but need to see him in action next season at the same time need a new striker and a new midfilder to re strengthen our current team Keeping my fingers cros just like RVP says not to play only beautiful fotoball BUT a title along with it.

i love football wonderkids. I hope he would become a football wonderkid from Arsenal.
Carlos making progress dats what i like to see
it will tke him a while to settle in but when he does and hes on form we’ve got ourselves another striker and that left footed left winger every Arsenal fan has craved 4 donkeys years
nice 1 JS
SEE VELA IN ACTION ON 26TH MARCH IN THE MEXICO VS GHANA FRIENDLY AT CRAVEN COTTAGE (SO LONDON GOONERS CAN MAKE AN EFFORT) AND JUDGE FOR THEMSELVES AND PERHAPS SEE HIM LIVE RATHER THAN ON TV SCREEN
Carlos Vela will be the left winger that we need.
An injury free (or at least lesser injuries than Rosicky), tricky, and pacy winger who can cause consistent threats to defenders. (rather than putting Diaby in that position).
He has been impressive for midtable/relegation battlers Osasuna. His most notable highlight of his 2nd year in the Spanish League was against Sergio Ramos, when the former Sevilla right back/CB was tortured by the constant threat of Vela.
I’m sure that this young Mexican will be a success and maybe he’ll take lesser time than the normal 6 month adaptation period as he has managed to settle in the Spanish League (which is on par with EPL).
waiting to see this guy in action…he surely can take arsenal to new places…
Finally we have a second winger on the left instead of constantly having to play diaby on the left!! vela looks fantastic been waiting to see him in action for quite a while now.. Settling in varies from player to player. Look at Bakary sagna who seems to have been born in that arsenal right back position. Hopefully vela will acclimatise quickly, though however long it takes im sure he’s going to be class!
Is there actually any evidence of Arsenal offering Vela a new contract? There appears to be no sources (or even claimed sources) in this article.
We desperately need a Robert Pires replacement on the left and hopefully Carlos can do that job for us. It should also have the desired effect of putting a rocket up the backside of players like Hleb who are only going through the motions just now.
Where we tonight shall camp?….The top blogs of the day. the newest report , see and reply me some comments. Thanks.
