Colorado Rapids 1-2 Arsenal (Match Report)

Picture From Colorado Rapids Official Website

Arsenal took on link club Colorado Rapids at London Colony this morning in a behind closed doors friendly, the game saw a mixture of first team and youth players, Theo Walcott, Lukasz Fabianski, Robin Van Persie all played, and were skippered by Gilberto.

Barazite, G.Hoyte, J.Hoyte, Gilbert, Bartley and other Reserves made up the squad.

Fabianski
J.Hoyte – Bartley – G.Hoyte – Gilbert
Walcott – Denilson – Gilberto (c)- Traore
Barazite – Van Persie

Playing their second game in as many days, the Rapids had the contest’s first opportunity, Ciaran O’Brien’s free kick found Nico Colaluca who fired well wide, in an impressive spell of pressure from the Americans.

Justin Hughes was keeping the visitors in the game with saves from Van Persie and Barazite, but during a break away, Arsenal forced a corner on 12 minutes, it brought the opening goal, a scramble in the goal mouth, before the ball fell to Nacer Barazite who fired home to give the Gunners a lead – With Thanks To GunnerBlog

Jovan Kirovski was next to work Fabianski from close range he let fly, but Arsenal’s polish stopper was more than equal to the effort.

Half Time – Arsenal 1-0 Colorado

The break, saw a flood of changes for both sides.

But if Fabianski was fantastic in the first half, we would impress again straight after the break, Terry Cooke and Tom McManus playing some football even Arsenal’s first team would have been impressed with, before a low driving effort was well gathered by Lukasz.

But on 66 minutes the game was safe, a foul in the area, allowed skipper Gilberto the chance to put the game beyond doubt from the penalty spot, he coolly converted putting the hosts 2-0 up.

Shortly before the goal, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott were replaced, Arsene Wenger told Arsenal.com

“Today we also lost Theo Walcott. He played against Colorado Rapids and he got a little thigh problem. “Robin played an hour and he looks OK. But it looks early for him, he finished the game very tired today so I will have to analyse that”

The Rapids were able to chip away at Arsenal’s advantage in the 87th minute, as the impressive McManus played a ball into midfielder Colin Clark, who was able to strike it home.

Why did you remove my comment showing that you’d just lifted this straight from the Rapid’s site?

    Plagiarism at it’s worst.

The info is partly taken from there, but this version is updated with more team news and match description, and giving more of an Arsenal perspective, that website does not include any of the Arsenal scorers.

Im not denying i took some of the info from there, but i’m sure you will know they do not own that infomation it is freely avaliable, you will find 99% of the content on Arsenal blogs is recycled.

J Sanderson – oh but I do. Plagiarism is the bain of the internet and should be shown where ever it exists. You tried to pass the piece off as your own work and it blatantly wasn’t.

I’ve no problem with you lifting info from somewhere else and colating it here, but at least have the good grace to credit the person/site who did the original work – especially when chunks are taken verbatim.

Also saying ‘others do it’ is no excuse.

You’ve got a good site here but blatant theft (without recognition) isn’t right however you try to excuse it.

Each match report is similar, because they report the same match facts, i offer a different more Arsenal orientated view on the game.

I used that along with other sources to gain a view on the game, am i supposed to list every single source i use in my blog?

If you really wanted to press home your point a simple e-mail would have been much better, but instead you have tried to show me up on my own blog, and in turn you have just made yourself ridiculous, not that i advocate Cieran calling you an offensive name.

Furthermore i am not saying others do it so it is ok, i simply making the point that you are picking on my blog, why don’t you go and go it to others, and see how they like it.

I Often link to my sources, and i did not to this one, as i felt the reports were of a different nature, i.e one supporting Arsenal the other Colorado Rapids.

However i accept your point, and if it makes you feel better i will add a link it is no problem.

But in future, should you have an issue e-mail me about it.

You’re not doing anything worse than so called professional journalists do. I’ve seen some produce stories, which have clearly been lifted from Arsenal.com or from the match day programme without any sort of acknowledgment. I read the Rapids report and whilst you clearly got your info from there it was not a straight copy or by any means word for word, which is what plagiarism means. I think that poster who was so critical is being really harsh as you are just trying to bring news to Arsenal fans from an Arsenal perspective and it is much appreciated.

    Thank you.

I’m only 17, im new to this, not that i am hiding behind my age or usuing it as an excuse, i am learning about laws and rules all the time.

I accept your postive and Negative comments, and look to learn and develop my writing style, i accept both Passenal’s and E i N’s comments

J – believe me it’s nothing personal and I read your site because it IS good (regardless of your age). You often bring news that isn’t readily available and for that I salute you.

I’m a professional writer in a couple of fields and have often had to screw websites and magazines who have blatantly stolen my work verbatim which is why I’m probably a little uppity about the subject to be honest (and Passenal is right about the many professional writers who are absolutely shameless).

Personally I believe original sources should always be credited without exception. It’s one of the keystones of good journalism – and good writing in general. Apart from anything I believe it’s down to respect.

Anyway, and I mean this genuinely, keep up your good work and efforts mate and the very best of luck for the future.

(And Ciaran – if you’re going to call people illiterate then maybe you should learn how to use the shift key when it’s needed and the difference between a full stop and a comma.)

We are quiet obviously going to see some reserve players in the squad against Wigan because we have 1 winger and 2 strikers left, no kidding. This Rapids game looks so stupid but nothing we can do about it now.

I want Barazite in the squad.

J – This is a great blog and I was so surprised to learn above that you are so young. Your pieces are written in a mature manner that is noticeably lacking from some of the other Arsenal blogs around. I’m glad that the heated exchanges above resolved themselves. Just as a piece of advice, maybe in the future it would be better/easier for you to say that you have gained certain information from certain sources. I absolutely understand that that is not always practical but it may also protect you if anything you wrote turned out to be incorrect. Anyway, keep up the very good work as this blog is always an enjoyable read.

I hope Denilson is okay, because he was going to start on the right with Hleb on the left. If that’s true than we either have to put Fabregas on the right and Gilberto in the middle; or have Traore or Barazite on one wing; or risk RvP early. I hope we don’t have to use any of those choices.
