Captain Conor Henderson was on target as Arsenal’s Under 16’s drew with Charlton’s Under 16’s side 1-1 at London Colony yesterday morning.
The game was marred with injuries to key players before the game even kicked off, Jeffrey Monakana, Benik Afobe, Cormac Hegarty and Rhema Obed all missed out with injury.
However Charlie Mann, Oliver Nicholas, and Sam Byles all started along with a familiar face, winger Jason Banton was included, after issues at Spurs he cancelled his contract with them and returned to the Gunners after a trial with West Ham, he was given a starting birth on the right hand side.
And it was Banton who helped in Arsenal’s goal, picking the ball up on the right he beat two players, before his cross was deflected out to find the England Youth International Henderson, who first time, side footed the ball beyond the Addicks stopper to share the spoils, a fantastic strike from the captain.
It finished 1-1 a note-able result for Arsenal even without leading marks-man Benik Afobe, the striker was left on agony after a horrific tackle against Norwich Under 16’s last week, he could be out for the next month.

i went to the u-18s game yesterday, but i didn’t see the u-16s play on the pitch where they usually play. i didn’t think this game took place
Great Post.. shame to see Benik Afobe out, that kid was in great form.
wants the story with banton
Of course very dissapointing for the kid, lets wish him all the best.
Why would Arsenal welcome Jason Banton back if considering they sold him in the first place then mate
