Coventry Boss Chris Coleman Watching Nacer Barazite

Coventry boss Chris Coleman was spotted at last nights Reserves league south fixture between Arsenal and Portsmouth in which the Gunners won 2-0, with the former Real Sociedad boss thought to be eying the Gunners second goal scorer Nacer Barazite.

Coleman already has experience of dealing with Arsene Wenger’s young players after Fran Merida Perez joined Real Sociedad, a team he managed until last month, and is now at Championship side Coventry, he was spotted by fans making notes on some of Arsenal’s young talents, fueling already rumors we could loan out Dutch forward Nacer Barazite at some stage in the next 6 months.

Barazite played a left midfield role last night, and was super impressive leading to some fans making comparison’s to former right footed left winger Robert Pires, he is also our top scorer this season with last night’s penalty his 18th in all competitions, with his spectacular form leading him to getting his second call up to the Holland Under 19’s squad later this month, after scoring a penalty on his debut against Scotland.

However Nacer is a top draw talent, and Coventry are sure not to be the only side in the running for his signature, and Wenger would be looking to give him the needed experience at a Premiership club, with the guarantee of a regular place in the team less likely in England’s top league.

The transfer window is still open for Championship clubs, meaning that a deal could still go through in the next weeks, and with Arsenal not being involved in any major Youth Championship’s Banfield and Wenger could let the 17 year old leave for the final few months of the season.

In other news the fore-mentioned Neil Banfield has spoken after the win last night, and he spoke on a whole host of things, including the performance:

“I am delighted for the lads. It was a really good football performance. I think we get carried away at times with what we need to do when we are on the ball and often forget what needs doing when the other team has the ball. We have spent a bit of time on that in training and you saw it tonight. The lads worked really hard even when they were not in possession.

“Our build-up play towards the goals tonight was superb. We have been patient, worked the ball and tried to be inventive then we got in and created the chances. We were close on getting in on some other great passages of play other than the two goals.”

I dont want him to go on loan. I think he is the real deal already. he might pick up a bad injury and at his age that could be bad news for his career. I would prefer to see him given CC and FAC as well as the odd prem game for Arsenal next season. wenger can keep better control if he stays with us.

i agree with you mate, he looks already at a level above loaning, and Reserves football, he is bang on form unlike some of the first team strikers.

I doubt he would go strait into the first team because as a striker i cannot see who’s place he would take, plus if being loaned out is good enough for the likes of Mark Randell, Fran Merida and Kieran Gibbs then it is also good enough for the likes of Nacer Barazite because reserve team football can only take you so far IMO

Tell Coleman, thanks but no thanks. Unless he intends to play Barazite from the start………then he will not be getting him. We saw what happend when Merida came to his former club, he quit.

    A little harsh there jay

Coleman actually used Merida, the Chairman forced him out, and the new coach doesnt use Fran now.

Hmm, my bad then. I thought Coleman quit because he wasn’t in control of the club’s transfers. He didn’t want to be a puppet that was forced to play Merida.

I think Barazite would set the Championship alight with his magnificent technique and composed passing & finishing.

I have a feeling he won’t be going out on loan though.

    Cov fan in peace here.

Barazite sounds like a quality signing if he comes to us on loan. Cov are lacking a goal scorer at the minute with Mifsud being pretty much off form since November. Coleman likes to play a young side so Barazite would fit straight into our squad.
