Saturday’s Results
Mark Randall – Preston North End 2-1 Burnley
After claiming in midweek that he did not expect to walk straight into the Burnley team, Mark found himself left out of the 16 that travelled to Preston for the early kick off.
Things started of badly for Burnley, when on loan from Watford striker Tamas Priskin cropped up and finished well on 5 minutes, the perfect start for Alan Irvine’s in form side, however on 38 minutes James O’Connor snatched an equaliser to set up an interesting second half.
The game was decided in the second period with a strike from Chris Brown with 54 minutes on the clock, not even the returning Andy Cole could save them, a second successive defeat for Burnley.
Kieran Gibbs – Norwich 3-0 Colchester United
Coming into this game, Norwich had a shocking record, they had not won in their last 5 games, and not scored in the last three, and having started last week, Kieran Gibbs suffered the same fate as Mark Randall, and was left out of the squad.
However he was not missed against the Bottom side, former Liverpool defender Jon Ostembor got things going as he was allowed to come racing forward from right back and left fly, to give the hosts the lead, which was doubled on 36 minutes after a composed strike from former Colchester striker Jamie Cureton, and Cureton would get the chance to double his account from the spot on 53 minutes.
He converted from 12 yards to put the game beyond the visitors, and with just three minutes left the super impressive Cureton completed his hat-trick to set Norwich back on track.
Jay Simpson – Oldham 0-1 Millwall
Manager Kenny Jackett decided to switch the side ahead of his team’s away game at Oldham, new signing Jem Karacan, who impressed against Arsenal’s Reserves earlier in the season was given a starting birth, as was former Gunner Ryan Smith.
Jay Simpson also started in his usual right midfield position, and like always Millwall left it late, before Bas Savage fired home on 76 minutes, as Millwall looked like they had stole the points, however it fired Oldham into action and much travelled striker Leon Constantine equalised 3 minutes later.
Jay played the full 90 minutes.

Super post & graphic.
Simpson seems to be playing reguarly for Millwall. I have a feeling though, he won’t be making it in the Premier League for Arsenal.
As for Randall, Gibbs, Pedro and Vela. Well they look like Arsenal players don’t they? I could see them all in the starting line up in 3 seasons time.
ah thanks mate,
Pedro and Vela are doing well, it seems the boys out in Spain are having a much better time than the guys in England.
Kieran Gibbs is with the England u19 squad ahead of Tuesdays match against Russia. I don’t know why Randall was left out though.
They were not meant to link up until Monday, it seems like Norwich didnt want to use him, so let him go early.
Lets hope he gets 90 minutes for England and shows Norwich what he can do.
Pingback: Loanees News - Gibbs, Randall Left Out Again,
I don’t know why championship teams go for 17/18 year old youngsters from us. All they really want is hardened pros that can take the physical battle week in week out. There’s not a lot of place for technical passing players in that league. As has been borne out with our loanees this season, the primary reason for them being there is as a cheap way to pad out their squad. The exception with Birmingham last season was that Muamba and Bendtner were very physical players anyway, plus the fact that Birmingham and Sunderland were so dominant.
Real Sociedad is playing right now. Their game started 5.30 (6.30 here in Sweden). Merida didn’t start.

i dont understand why people think jay simpson is not going to make it.Is it because he’s playing in league 1 because he’s clearly better then gibbs and randall
Gibbs is light years ahead of Simpson mate.
these ungreatful clubs we gotta send out Gibbs and Merida again next year to make up for lost time
nar gibbs is not atall ahead of gibbs noway m8 i do agree that gibbs is lightweight ive seen jay play he’s strong, very fast, got loads of tricks and can score gibbs aint on his level
oops lol i mean gibbs aint ahead of jay simpson
Mate didn’t Real Sociedad play on Saturday
Yeah, they did play on Saturday and Mérida wasn’t on the field nor on the bench. Not sure why, and frankly didn’t bother me at all. Real Sociedad has now lost their 3rd place, and struggling for the last couple of months with both their defsnse and attacking.
p/s: Can you spell Pedro’s name correctly, kinda bug me a little considering it was misspelled few times now, Its Pedro Botelho. And looks like he also won’t be starting today.
