Saturdays Results
Jay Simpson – Millwall 0-1 Leyton Orient
Jay Simpson was given a starting birth as Millwall hosted Leyton Orient, knowing the three points would be vital in both sides, for different reasons.
Millwall looking to cement their status in League 1, and Orient needed the points to push for a play-off place.
However the Lions would go on to lose the game, despite playing some fantastic stuff in the first half, Wayne Gray crashed home on the 50 minute mark, and all hopes of a come back were dashed when Marc Laird was sent off, Jay was then subbed of with 15 minutes left
Jay Simpson Played 75 Minutes
Kieran Gibbs – Sheffield United 2-0 Norwich
Kieran Gibbs was handed a rare start as Norwich travelled to Yorkshire to take on an unpredictable Sheffield United side, however the Young Gunner struggled to impress as two goals in the space of four minutes sealed the win for the Blades.
Former Scunthorpe United striker Billy Sharp fired home before highly rated defender Matthew Kilgallon bulleted home the second, as the Canaries fell apart, Gibbs was then booked and shortly after subbed off for Lee Croft.
Kieran Gibbs Played 62 Minutes
Mark Randall – Burnley 1-3 Wolves
Mark Randall again started from the bench yet again as Burnley’s excellent home form came to an end against Wolves, Seyi George Olofinjana crashed home first, before further strikes from Michael Gray and former Manchester United striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake sealed the result, Mark Randall was introduced and played a part in the move that led to Ade Akinbyi scoring late on, but it finished 2-1.
Mark Randall Played 15 Minutes
Fran Merida Perez – Real Sociedad 0 Numancia 1
Fran Merida was yet again left on the subs bench as a spluttering Real Sociedad lost to Numanica at home, Del Pino fired the only goal on 89 minutes, and deep into stoppage time, Fran was brought on and played less than one minute.
Fran Merida Perez played 1 Minute
Vincent Van Den Berg – Go Ahead Eagles 1-2 Roosendaal
Vincent Van Den Berg was not included in the squad as The Eagles lost 2-1 to RBC Roosendaal, Sas Stojanovic put the visitors ahead, shortly after the hour mark, before Stojanovic doubled his tally and his sides, with another strike on 76 minutes.
But the Eagles did get back into it, but it was too little too late, as Rik Platvoet fired home in stoppage time.

Burnley and Sociedad are really starting to take the piss with Randall and Fran Merida. how can they be expected to progress and develop to be in Arsenals 1st team next year if they continue gettin 15-20 mins max in games its a joke to be honest. both are good players and will be good cover for next year but they will be behind Gibbs, Vela and Pedro so much in terms of experience next year.
It doesnt matter how good Randall and Merida play when they come on they still find themselves on the bench for the next game and what makes it even more hilarious is that Burnley and Sociedad aren’t even doing all that well in their leagues I’ve checked. Its disgusting behaviour from the 2 clubs its the last time we should do business with the both of them.
The rest of the loanees I’m satisfied with and there clubs.
Gd post as usual JS
Kieran Gibbs should be added too mate, he has been on the bench for ages, and all his fans do is slag him off.
brilliant comment mate top work.
what i dont get is everytime randall plays good makes the manger drops him next game. Its like the manger scared why bring randall in the first place
Gibbs did a pretty good game, too lightweight for Championship though. Have no idea why Roeder took him off.
And by “Have no idea why Roeder took him off” I mean that there was many Norwichplayers who were more worse than Gibbs today.
We would obviously love our young players out on loan to be starting every game and getting the maximum amount of experience from these loan stints, but it is unreasonable to expect, let alone demand for these guys to be played.
It takes time for players to integrate into a new team and get used to a style of play vastly different from that of the Arsenal. The only way to ensure playing time is to aim for a lower league. Jay Simpson for example has had time to settle in and prove himself at League 1 Milwall so starts every game, higher up the league ladder in the Championship, new loanees Keiran Gibbs and Mark Randall are being used more sparingly, and we have to accept that it is the managers decision. How would we have felt if Real Madrid had demanded that Arsene Wenger had played Baptista from the start of every game. It is a different situation I know, but not a bad comparison.
We should not dismiss the fact that these guys are in the squad for every game either. They gain more experience from learning how to prepare for weekly first teams games, even if they are on the bench, than they will from playing fortnightly reserve games at Underhill.
Having said all that, I would love to see these guys get more playing time. I think Gibbs, Randall and Merida may be the subject of year long loans next season. Hopefully so will Nacer Barazite, Rui Fonte, Abu Ogogo Havard Nordveit, Armand Traore, Gavin Hoyte and Paul Rodgers.

I have visited this site on many an occasion now but this post is the 1st one that I have ever commented on.
Congratulations on such a fine article and site I have found it very helpful and informative – I only wish that there were more out there like this one.
I never leave empty handed, sometimes I may even be a little disappointed that I may not agree with a post or reply that has been made. But hey! that is life and if every one agreed on the same thing what a boring old world we would live in.
Keep up the good work and cheers.
