Should’ve sent Merida to Salamanca – at least they appreciate our players and play them!!
Why does Arsene Wenger still allow Fran Merida to stay at Real Sociedad if all he does is sit on the bench, because surley he would be better off at a Coca Cola Championship club playing more often IMO
Yeah nightmare for Fran sociedad are really clowns we should have loaned him within england then we could have cancelled the way chelsea did with scott sinclair’s loan to charlton
im sure Wenger will not be sending anymore players there, after this.
I think Carlos Vela could have an instant impact in our team and could be a starter by the time the new season starts. I’ll be looking out for him in the Emirates Cup, Amsterdam Tournament (if we’re in it), pre season game against Barnet and the other games. I’m excited about him a lot and I’ll be getting his name and number on my shirt for next year. I hope he’s got a 1st team number and not a high 20’s number.
Good post as usual JS
JamJam, while I admire your enthusiasm, I don’t think it is good to overhype a player in this way. He is still very young and has yet to play in England, and I worry that this level of pressure could hinder him. Disappointment is relevant to expectation, and I feel that at the moment, the expectancy of our younger players is slightly too high.
Vela isn’t thaaaaat great, yet. I was born in Spain as you might understand, and I talk with people from Spain every day (I live in Scandinavia now), and they say that Vela isn’t such a bright star in Osasuna. They know he’s a great talent, but he doesn’t dominate matches. He will proabably be regularly in Arsenal in some years, but not directly.
Jose – according to the Osasuna forums; they all rate him as their best player so I don’t know who you’ve been talking to!

From what I been hearing from friends in Spain and family throughout Europe…they all say Vela is one of the top young talents in Europe and is definitely the catalyst for Osasuna! I’ve seen him play many many times from the youth world cup-salamanca-osasuna-mexico senior and every team he’s been on he’s one of the main players! I know it will take him some time to adjust in England but when he has adapted I have no doubts he’ll be a star! The only thing I’d like to see him work on is being more physical, once that happens the rest of the Premiership will fear him!
