Player Of The Month – Emmanuel Frimpong

Ghanian born English youth international Emmanuel Frimpong is Young Guns player of the month for March 2008.

The central midfielder started the month, with a match winning goal against Charlton Under 18’s, he was then called up by the England Under 16’s to take part in the Montaigu Tournament in France, he started the first game, and ran the show as England ran out 3-1 winners, with his Arsenal team-mate Luke Freeman getting on the score-sheet.

He then bagged the winner in the second group game against Germany, to book the three lions place in the final, and despite being rested for the final group game, he started the final, and scored a penalty in the shoot-out as England won the trophy.

He then came back to Arsenal, and on Saturday started the Under 18’s game against Cardiff, and got himself on the score-sheet again with a free-kick from the edge of the area.

The future looks really bright for Emmanuel Frimpong at just 16, he is one of the biggest talents at the club.

Frimpong seems like a really interesting player, but to be honest I know next to nothing about him. Maybe you could write an in-depth feature article about him some time, and include some thoughts about his future? :) I’m sure more people than me would be interested in reading that.

He is a powerful central midfielder, can get forward, but is mainly defensive, like Lassana Diarra.

And im not sure about that, where did you hear that Joshua?

Yep i will do an article on him very soon :)

Joshua, I’m afraid this happens with every talented player with African roots; someone makes up a rumour that they are in fact older than they claim to be. This happens with everyone like Adu, Samba, Martins etc probably due to the fact someone is jealous of a player being younger and yet far more talented than they are, so I would just ignore it.

I am Frimpong’s elder brother and I can vividly say that he is under 18. He will become a great player for Arsenal one day. Go Manny, do your own thing on the field. Proof to everyon that you are great.
