Randall Admits – Arsenal's Kids Have Life Easy

On loan Arsenal midfielder Mark Randall has admitted that Arsenal’s young prospects have life easy, with transport, medical checks, and housing all taken care for them off the field and boots, equipment and kits sorted for them on it.

Speaking To The Lancashire Telegraph Randall Said:

“There are a lot of things done for you at Arsenal. Outside of football you get your houses and cars sorted for you, and that’s just the way the game has gone nowadays,”

“Steve Bould, the youth team coach, told us when he came through the ranks he used to have to do everything for himself. We don’t even make doctor’s appointments anymore.

“It is great being looked after so well, but being at Burnley allows me more freedom to make my own choices and decisions.”

Mark was an unused substitute on Saturday as Burnley drew 2-2 with Watford, a surprise after the 18 year old came on in midweek against Coventry and ran the show, with two long range efforts nearly going in, and his passing and energy helped grab a point in that game.

But Owen Coyle remains up beat and confirmed the point was very creditable

I felt we were outstanding,” said boss Owen Coyle afterwards.

“We got the ball down and passed it and offered enough to win the game.

“We created gilt-edged chances but switched off at a corner and free kick. The players have to stand up and be counted and they bounced back.

“We will always try and get the ball down and play. We offered a lot to the game and I am delighted.”

Is this a good thing though, does it help the kids to grow up properly? Part of maturing as a person comes from having to deal with the boring nitty gritty of life; but if it’s all being done for you…

Still, I guess they are footballers after all, so might as well prepare them for a life of luxury and privilege now eh :P

I think that as talent becomes premium, the clubs do anything and everything they can to keep hold of them. Of course they are unprotected until they are 17, something we have taken advantage of in the past and we dont want anyone doing that to us
