Real Sociedad In Trouble Over Merida + Loanees News

Real Sociedad coach Jose Ramon Eizmendi has come under fire from fans, as well as the media after using loan midfielder Fran Merida sparingly since his arrival in February.

El Mundo Deportivo reports fans of the basque club are furious with the coach who replaced Chris Coleman after new chairman Iñaki Badiola won the clubs January elections, however after playing Merida for just 1 minute on Saturday in a 1-0 defeat, questions are being asked of Eizmendi who has had mixed results since his arrival and only has a contract until the end of the season, with some supporters on the clubs forums calling for him to be sacked.

Badiola himself is also thought to be furious, as he see’s this loan contract as the start of a relationship with Arsenal, which could see the Gunners sending more prospects to them, as UD Salamanca our other link side, are currently having money troubles, and their long term future is far from certain.

But with the treatment of Fran who is regarded as one of the biggest and brightest prospects in Spain, Arsenal will think twice before sending any more players to the San Sebastian outfit.

Fran definetaly deserves more playing time he mostly only comes on 4 lyk the last 5 mins, most of the time he needs more playing time to aid hes development! hopefully he comes back an tries 4 a 1st team place next season, but with no playing time at Sociedad he may have 2 spend more time in da reserves next season or go on loan to an english side possibly ?

Whats the point of Fran warming the bench?? he is such a bright talent and he isnt getting ANY game time, which is the reason we sent him on loan! he would be better off playing for our reserves…. and better for us.

Im also disapointed with the other teams that have our players on loan, Randall Gibbs etc…we send them on loan to play not to sit on the bench, whats the point of them going on loan??

LET HIM PLAY! LET HIM PLAY! LET HIM PLAY! With Gibbs, from what I’ve been hearing he’s been having a hard time adjusting with Norwich and hasn’t been that impressive. I’ve been hearing good things about Randall at Burnley though, hopefully he can start playing more minutes.

Randall wasn’t in better situation than gibbs or merida. I’m pissed that he played their last 3 reserve games (for full 90 min in 2 of 3) which were on the next day of midweek championship games. isn’t there any vacancy in our own reserve team for randall?

but I have to admit half season loan deal isn’t good for both the players and their temparary host club. young players need time to gear up with new team and it’s understandable that those clubs don’t want to pay the price for short-term loanees. a full season loan deal may be more reasonable, like the bendtner/larsson/muaba deal last season. bruce just said recently that he was pleased with arsenal loanee.

I don’t know where did you get the information Pedro Botelho not playing, because i was watching the highlight of the match against Córdoba and Pedro was in fact playing full match on the left wing. He did make several chances which the best came on the 49th minute, which the left back Pelegrin fail to convert the easy chance.

He also was to be fault for poor defending which led to Córdoba’s goal.

My mistake, Pelegrin played as a right back.
