Burnley Want Arsenal's Randall For Next Season

Burnley boss Owen Coyle will sit down with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and Head of Youth Development officers Liam Brady and David Court in the next month to discuss the long term future of Mark Randall.

The 18 year old has had a mixed time at Turf Moor, after joining the Championship side on transfer deadline day on loan until the end of the season. Despite a promising start the youngster has been missing in recent weeks leading many Gooners to suggest Burnley are not selecting Mark, something Coyle was quick to dismiss.

“That’s been a source of frustration for me, because Mark came in and did very well”.
“He came on against Coventry and was terrific, then we started him at Stoke, and he did okay in the game.”

“He then hurt his back. Sometimes people look and say ‘he’s not playing’, but people don’t realise the reasons for it.”

“He wasn’t quite right, and then he’s been stop-start with a few niggles.’There’s no doubt Mark can play, he’s gifted, but he knows he has a lot of stuff to learn in the game.”

He also spoke about the terrific relationship Randall’s loan has given Burnley, with both Arsenal but in particular Liam Brady.

“We have a terrific relationship with Arsenal and Liam Brady, who obviously looks after the younger side of things. (At Arsenal)”

“I’ve mentioned before that we want to get young players to the football club, so we’ll wait and see what happens.”

Coyle would prefer to have Randall on a permanent basis, however another season on loan seems the most realistic option, with Arsene Wenger being a huge fan of Randall. Brady is also expected to offer some of the youngsters that will be released in the summer to Burnley in a bid to not only help the relationship between the clubs, but to also ease the blow on the players who will learn their fate next month.

From what i have seen of Mark and when he replaced Theo in the Cup he is a very very promising player and would give us another option on the wing. I don’t think he should be loaned out next season but be one of the young lads brought in to the first team.

I have never really spoken much about Mark, but yes Wenger seems to really like him, and i sort of do to. I see he has alot of potential, and if he stays here he can develop and become superb.

I have said i feel he will leave though, and this just backs it up.

Hi all, Burnley fan here. Seen him a few times and he looks like a very positie player, looking to go forward with the ball at every opportunity. The only weakness i have seen of him is his strength. To many times he is seen being knocked off the ball. Fortunately this is an aspect of any players game that can improved, and I am sure he will be a top player for you (or us!)

    Hi..

Yes its been an issue with alot of our loan players,Kieran Gibbs who went to Norwich wasnt quite physically ready and Norwich fans had a huge argument about it.

You Burnley fans seem to respect it Mark is just 18. and he will be a superb player.

Excellent site Mr Sanderson. Very good coverage for those, like me, obsessed enough with Arsenal to want to read all the youth and reserve news.

Re Mark Randall: He has looked fairly tidy when I have seen him but I didnt think we had a potential world beater on our hands. However I have heard sevaral times that Wenger thinks very highly of him. A year or two ago very few people rated Flamini or Song… But Arsene knows. (Wish he would ship Eboue out though…)

    Anyway great site..

The championship isnt the place for Arsenal youngsters… its completley differnet to how they have been developed, the football is completly different, they have had Arsenal type football breeded into them since a young age and Arsenal type football isnt found in the championship (no dis-respect to the championship intended)

Anyway onto Randall, i really like him and its for the best if he stays with us! I hope he doesnt do what most english youngsters do and leave as they arnt playing regularly at 20…

JS… Do you know if barazite will be in the squad for the Derby game tonight? Seems like a perfect occasion for him to make his debut…

I would like to see Randall stay at Burnley, as the Championship is of a much higher standard than reserve team football. I mean, just look at what Campbell at Hull and Sinclair at Palace are doing at the moment!

I would like to see us take a few more of your guys on loan too. Lansbury looked very good in the youth games.

Do you know who you are looking to release at the end of the season?

I personally agree with you because i do not know why we persist in playing central midfielders on the wing at Arsenal wether it be Henri Lansbury, Fran Merida, Mark Randell and even Jack Wilshere insted we just seem to put our midfield players out of position all the time, i mean Arsene Wenger would not play Gael Clichy or Armand Traore at right back would he i swear if Zinadine Zidane was English he would have been a winger and not an attacking central midfielder

I am an expat Brit in North America, and sometimes it’s like living with a black bag over my head. The rest of the world is going ga-ga over the Champions League and the Premiership, and here all most people know about soccer/football is Posh Spice… (perhaps not entirely fair, but hard to sit in a bar in Montreal and watch England lose to Portugal and see Canadians with no affiliation to the country of Portugal celebrate just because they like the football team! Mind you Montreal now has a large France-French population, so it was great to see them celebrate through the streets when France beat Portugal a few days later…
Can you tell I miss it…?

Dimitrov had a trial with Arsenal in January.

He was not deemed good enough to be bought, so returned to Levski Sofia.

You should not listen to your “mate” he is probably pulling your leg.

Might be a good idea to have him at Burnley for another season. If he is excellent than we bring him back. If he is not good enough than he will be sold.

Independent state that Flamini has agreed a deal with Milan. I don’t like it but I do believe it’s true. If he wanted to stay he would have signed long time ago. Now I’m wondering. Was Wenger experimenting by playing Denilson as defensive mid? It will be interesting to see if he and Fabregas can effectively play together. I thought he was well short today, at least defensively, but more games in that role can transform a player. At least we will know more next weekend. If Flamini doesn’t play, than I guarantee you he is off. If Denilson plays again, than Wenger is seriously thinking about not buying a replacement for Flamini.

Anybody who saw the FA cup game will see that Burnley under Owen Coyle like to get the ball down and play football. Would love to see Randall back at Burnley next season, maybe it’s the atart of a association with Arsenal to help develop promising young players and to see a Championship side more pleasing on the eye.
