Cruise Scores As Arsenals Under 18s Draw With Fulham

After winning Group A last week, Arsenal took on Fulham this morning knowing the game meant little but with the play-off semi final against Aston Villa looming, a win to keep up momentum and finish the season strongly, was the order of the day.

Jack Wilshere and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas were placed on the bench after star performances against Derby Reserves on Monday, the pair are expected to feature against West Ham on Monday. Rhys Murphy was also rested, so Luke Freeman partnered Sanchez Watt in attack.

Szczesny
Blackwood – Bartley – Cruise – Evina
Rasmussen – Frimpong – Ayling – Henderson
Watt – Freeman

Subs: – Shea, Wilshere, Emmanuel-Thomas

However Fulham would prove to be a tough test for Bould’s boys, they are 3rd in Group A and have conceded the least goals, but have also scored the least meaning a draw always looked on the cards.

That’s exactly what happened, despite a tap in from centre back Thomas Cruise, and things could have been even worse when a penalty was awarded. However Polish stopper Wojciech Szczesny added to his growing reputation with a stunning save from the spot to deny Fulham the win.

With the play offs getting closer, Szczesny could prove to be a valuable asset, as Arsenal look to win the Academy league trophy.

Result – Arsenal 1-1 Fulham – Under 18s.

On Target – Benik Afobe In 2-0 Win

Arsenal’s Under 16’s had better fortunes against Fulham’s Under 16’s, beating them 2-0 thanks to goals from Benik Afobe and Roarie Deacon.

Afobe got things going after out pacing the Fulham back four and slotting confidently beyond the home keeper for his 28th goal of the season, then Arsenal tied up the win when new scholar Roarie Deacon spotted the keeper off his line and delicately lobbed it beyond him to keep up his excellent form.

Result – Arsenal 2-0 Fulham – Under 16s.

Please stop posting results in your headlines. Some people want to watch it without know the scores already.

Does anyone know if Villa have a good team and which players to watch out for?
I have heard the likes of Delfonseuo and Forrester are good players.

I personally have seen them both play for England at U16’s/U17’s level and Nathen Delfouneso is a class center foward and Harry Forrester is Aston Villa’s version of our very own Jack Wilshere a small attacking midfielder with bags of skill who has an eye for goal

Its my blog, i will do what i want, what do you expect me to put?

It is your blog, well pointed out. All I was asking is if you could show a little courtesy to those who wish not to know the results, but have them shoved in their face when looking at arsenal newsnow.

Maybe an alternative is to simple put U/18 Arsenal vs Fulham: Full Match Report. Those who want to know the score can click the link and read.

Anyway, a mature response by yourself: “I’ll do what I want”. No wonder you run a kids blog.

I dont see a problem with putting the score as what does it matter? even if you wanted to watch the game on Arsenal TV its only highlights not as if its the whole game. Most people on here want to know how well Arsenal’s youth have done and would like to know the score. Im fully behind Sanderson and it is his blog so if one person doesnt like it den shit happens rele.

    John,

I understand people want to see how Arsenal’s youth are going. My issue isn’t with giving out the scores in the body of the article, it’s to so with the “spoiler” headlines that contain the results. The headlines appear in newsnow. By all means report the match, but all I ask is you don’t out spoilers in the headings.

Other than that, I think this is a great site.

It seems your making an issue about something that there isnt.

your point has been noted, and i will try and not spoil the result, however its important to do so in order to get people to view the blog.

    But thanks your for views.
