Henri Lansbury's Injury Rehabilitation On Track

Henri Lansburys rehabilitation from Glandular fever is on track, however the England Youth International will not play again this season.

The 17 year old has been missing since scoring a hat-trick in the 3rd round of the F.A Youth Cup against Burnley on January 11th, it then emerged he had contracted the viral infection Glandular Fever, or “Kissing Disease” as its more commonly known.

He has been missing ever since, but returned to light training at the start of this month, and has since stepped up the intensity and is expected to return to action as a part of the Gunners pre-season plans. Lansbury has also been in discussions over a brand new four year professional contract, and once proving his fitness it will be signed.

Arsenal’s doctors have had to be cautious when treating Henri, as the Fever can stay for over a year and sustained physical exercise can lead to sustained fatigue, and even muscle tearing. But with the news his training programme has been stepped up, shows good signs that the talented prospect will become part of Arsene Wenger’s first team plans next season.

Lansbury’s return will also coincide with Mathieu Flamini’s contract running out, and with Wenger willing to take a gamble on impressive youngsters, Henri could put behind his injury nightmare with more first team appearances.

    1. Nacer Barazite – 20
    2. Jack Wilshere – 15
    3. Henri Lansbury – 8

Where had Henri beginig playing Sander, as this is alot of goals for a centrmidfielder considering he has being out for so long.
Surely these three plus Merida nad Vela will get first team squad numbers. What you think of Randalls chances of staying? or is he Wigan/Brummy bound

He has been playing central midfield, or on the right. Lansbury on form is the best player in the system,

I think there is to much hype about Wilshere, yes he has done well but the kid has just turned 16.

Merida and Vela will get new numbers, and Randall should leave, i doubt he would go to a Prem club though.

Sanderson, Did you see this? Its from North London Pride.
Can you add anything to it.?

NorthLondonPride was the first to report that a few weeks back we was close to signing Miralem Pjanic, It all seems to be coming out now after a recent interview with Metz manager Joel Muller by Setanta Sports.

Muller has agreed to speak about the 17-year-old, who is shining in Ligue 1 and who has been linked to The Gunners in the last few weeks.

“He is one of the rare young talents that show you in a minute that he is going to have a great career,” Muller told setantasports.com.

“As we are going to be relegated we have no choice and have to sell our jewel to earn money. I think that a team like Arsenal would help him to continue his education, with a coach-educator like Arsene Wenger and regarding the football they play, it would definitely be a good option.

“We helped Robert Pires and Adebayor to become great players, so Pjanic could go the same way. His talent needs to be brought out slowly.

“His technique is amazing; he reads the game and knows what is going to happen before everybody. He can play with his left foot, with his right foot and always creates the best situations.

“He anticipates and is a great passer. He can be a playmaker behind two strikers. I know that Arsenal don’t play with a playmaker, but Miralem can be used on the wing as well.

“His weak point is his lack of physical strength, but it will improve with time. The Italian league is not made for him, but I think that the English one is.”

The former Metz coach highlighted the midfielder’s strength of character by recalling an incident in the league.

“Our own fans behind the goal encouraged the opposite goalkeeper when Pjanic was about to take a penalty for us,” he said.

“He scored it, then had to do it again because there was a player in the box, and then went directly to make fun of the fans in front of them in the stands! That proves the winner and competitor he is.”

Muller was then asked to compare Pjanic to the player he resembles the most.

“It is difficult to compare him to another player to be honest,” Muller said. “I think we should wait for one or two years before doing it, but I deeply believe that he will have his own style.

“His football is very original. He loves to play facing the goal, not with his back to it, like Michel Platini did. He has not got Johan Cruyff’s strength, and it is too early to compare him to Zinedine Zidane.

“I expect him to create his own name.”

Muller is of course proud of Metz’s Academy, and he said: “We took him from Luxemburg, where we have great links and relations. He had to go there because of the war in Yugoslavia. His daddy was a professional player there.

“We expected him to play for the reserves but our sporting situation and bad summer recruitment rushed us to play him and he imposed himself.

“If his agents and himself take the right decision, he could have a superb European career. I think that he wants to carry on playing in the top flight. But maybe a team like Arsenal could sign him and loan him back to us for a year. It would be great for us.”

That sounds very promising. I saw a vid youtube a few days and was highly impressed with him. For 18 years old his technique and overall game looks superb.

Great to hear Lansbury is getting back to fitness as hes highly regarded i can see him and Wilshere being in the first team in the next couple of years. Hopefully Gibbs will get a chance aswell as that would give us a good English backbone to the side.

Next season will be crucial for Lansbury. He either has to go on loan or be a part of the first team. If he is not good enough now to be a squad player, it would be against the odds to tip on him to make it.

What I do know is that there will be a hard competition about the midfield roles at Arsenal. Imagine all the U-21 central midfielders that we might have in the first team next season:
Fabregas, Diaby, Song, Denilson, Merida, Lansbury and Pjanic (I hope so much that we get him), plus Djourou wants to play there.

I dont see Song or Djourou playing there for the first team and if that is the case there will be less competition. Song seems to be like a new Kolo for us as he has been very assured lately. I see competition for the CDM place being: Flamini, Diaby and Lansbury and CAM: Fabregas Denilson and Merida

In the games I saw with the England U-17, Lansbury played an attacking role, kind of like Fabregas. I have never heard of him as a defensive midfielder. Song played excellently there for Cameroon in the ACN so he might well be a candidate.

Oh ok i asked Sanderson which position Henri played and he said CDM but ok den i don’t really no where he plays tbh. Also i agree with you that Song would be a good CDM but i’d say we need him more at CB as Senderos isnt good enough.

He can be both, he is a box-to-box midfielder, defensive and attacking.

Sanderson, you mentioned that Lansbury spends long periods out injured. Is it just the glandular fever you are talking about or has he been prone to other injuries too?
