Mannone & Fabianski Praise From Almunia

Arsenal Reserves goalkeeper’s Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone have received high praise from the current first team number 1 stopper Manuel Almunia, in an exclusive interview with The Guardian Newspaper.

The Spainard also used the opportunity to have a dig at long time rival Jens Lehmann, even claiming he knows the German “hates” him, but the main focus was on the 20 year old Italian Mannone and the Polish International Lukasz Fabianski, who Manuel confirmed are already better in terms of ability than the 38 year old Lehmann:

“I’m an easy-going person, I like to treat everyone with respect and I see everyone as equals.”

“Every morning I wake up, I know it is going to be the same. I’ve had to put up with it every day since he was out of the team and even before then.

“But I don’t care about him anymore. He can say what he likes. I come into training and I work with [Arsenal reserve keepers] Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone. They are better goalkeepers than him anyway.”

More Pre Season Games Announced

Arsenal have confirmed two more friendly fixtures as plans are made for pre-season this summer, both games are expected to be dominated with Arsenal’s Reserves & Youth players, it all kicks off on May 6th when Neil Banfield takes his squad down to Dorchester for Brian Benjafield’s testimonial.

Then on July 19th a mixture of the first team and Reserves will feature in the traditional game at Underhill against Barnet, where Carlos Vela is expected to make his debut in an Arsenal shirt, then comes the first team game against VfB Stuttgart before the Emirates Cup tournament and then another chance for the young players to be involved against Huddersfield Town.

Lansbury is a great talent, he is a central midfielder, very strong powerful,, great passer and full of energy.

it will be a real shame if he leaves.

I’ve noticed that you referred to Lansbury possibly going on a couple of occasions. What’s the background to this?

The only reason Lansbury’s contract hasn’t been sorted out is that he has had glandular fever which is a virus that can stay in your body for years. The club were just waiting to see if it was clearing up properly.
Tom Soares is a massive Arsenal fan.

On an Arsenal forum someone said that there was a rumour that a player from Arsenal failed a recreational drugs test and he said that it was possibly either Denilson or Lansbury. Never heard that rumour before but he didn’t say it like most people would when making rumours up and said he heard it somewhere else. Hopefully it’s not true though :).

Well that would certainly explain why Denilson has not been playing for us. I hope that’s just some balogna.

I have high hopes that one of Fabianski, Mannone and Shcezny (spelling?) will make it at Arsenal. They all look very exciting. However, Wenger has a big decision to make this summar about goalkeepers. Will he stay with Almunia or go for somebody else? If we have the opportunity to buy somebody in the Buffon mould, then go for it no matter what he costs. The difference between a good and a great keeper is a league title. Just remember 2004-2005. We had Lehman who was not playing good. Chelsea had Cech and they won the league. We would have won it with Cech in the goal, no question IMO.

Mannone looks a cut above the rest tbh mate, Szczesny is highly rated though.

Fabinaski will feature more for the first team next season.
