Norwich Yet To Make Decision On Arsenal Loanee Gibbs

Norwich City boss Glenn Roeder is yet to make a decision on loan winger Kieran Gibbs, as the 18 year old’s loan contract is due to expire on the 28th of April.

Gibbs has received mixed reviews from Canaries fans during the three month spell at Carrow Road, with the majority being disappointed with his overall performances, which has seen 4 starts and 1 appearance from the substitutes bench, with the latest playing time coming in injury time in the Derby defeat to Ipswich on Sunday.

Norwich’s chances of making the play offs are all but over, and the club are now safe from relegation so there seems little point in extending the loan, so Kieran could return to Arsenal and even feature for the Gunners in our final Premiership fixtures. This would also give boss Arsene Wenger the chance to asses Gibbs and where he will fit in next season for himself.

Should Arsenal decide not to give Kieran a new longer term contract in the summer, plenty of clubs will be ready to snap up the former Wimbledon youngster, however Wenger confirmed before sending him to Norwich that he, along with injured midfielder Henri Lansbury would “certainly be in the first team squad next season”.

Winner – Jason Banton

A mixed Arsenal 11 containing fringe Under 18 players and some Under 16s, beat Peterborough United Under 18s 2-1 last night, in a friendly encounter at the Gunners Shenley training headquarters.

Goals from forwards Jason Banton and then Benik Afobe wrapped up the win, in an important test for Steve Gattings boys, as they played an Under 18s team assessing the credentials of his side, and who could be promoted to Steve Boulds team next season.

Benik just can’s stop scoring… Can’t wait to see him under Stevie Bould.

I also hope Gibbs gets a chance as hes a m8 of a m8 of mine so would like him to do well. By any chance do you know why hes played so few games? As i rate him highly and he played well when he played 4 Arsenal earlier this season.

the main reason that kieran played so few games is that we are very strong in the position that he play’s in. he is extremly talented and no doubt will go all the way but in the championship its a very physical game and he needs to bulk up a bit (according to roeder) however skill counts a lot more in the premiership and thats where he is destined to be

Great website !!! Been a fan for 30 odd years and have to say this is one of the most informative websites I’ve seen. It’s great to read about the youngster coming through the ranks.
I noticed Kerrea Gilbert is crossed out on your players profile. Has he been let go? If so it’s a shame as he played well in the games he played for the first team a few years back. It’ll be sad if we lost both him and Justin. Two good quality English players !! I think they could both excell if given time on the pitch. Good luck to them both.
