Arsenal Complete Francis Coquelin Deal & Nasri Update

As Young Guns exclusively reported earlier last week, Stade Lavallois’s France Under 17 International Francis Coquelin has recently been on trial with Arsenal, with news yesterday that the club are in transfer talks. for his signature. Well today it has been reported that Coquelin has infact now been signed.

During the trial period he picked up a thigh injury, and he subsequently returned to France, where it seemed at the time that the injury would rule out any chance of Arsenal taking up any further interest. However after holding talks with his representatives, an agreement believed to be a 4 year professional contract has been reached subject to a medical.

Reports in France claim he undertook the medical examinations this afternoon, before putting pen to paper on the contract. Because he was yet to agree a professional deal with Lavallois, he is a free agent meaning any possible transfer fee is waved. But if matters go to court Arsenal could end up paying a small fee in compensation, however this is very unlikely.

Following this news, Stade Lavallois released the following statement regarding the transfer.

“We are hearing here and there different destinations for different transfer fees. The truth of the moment it that Francis Coquelin is free.”

“Nothing more links him with MFC, as a consequence his future club have no obligation to pay an education fee.”

You can read more about the deal, along with a description of the player in the previous articles as linked to above. We will of course be adding Coquelin’s Player Profile, to the list shortly.

Following on from the story we brought you last night, that French news agency L’Equipe claim Arsenal have agreed to sign Marseille’s Samir Nasri. Comes new reports this evening that the same station have been talking live on air about where Nasri will fit in Arsenal’s plans, further backing up the news he is on the verge of a transfer to London.

However French Eurosport claims that Nasri and his agent are claiming that want more money, after Arsenal agreed a transfer fee with Marseille, by activating the £12.5 million buyout clause in his contract. The agent also claimed he will study other offers, but it is thought he used this ploy to attempt to squeeze more from the deal. Don’t Be Tight Samir, Sign The Contract FFS!

So the money squeezing ploy has started before he even becomes one of us, agents eh! Don’t know what to think now, very disapointing indeed……..not sure if we are ever going to see him in an Arsenal shirt, The noise made about this guy has been so much the last 3 days. I am sure one of the other clubs will probably add £1m – £2m more and get him. I hope this is not another Babel in the making! Money money money!!!!!!!

Same old same old from his agent, getting the best deal he can from his and his client. Lets face it they have no “spiritual” attachemtn to Arsenal and we are a large cash wealthy company with players earning more than Nasri. Of course he should try and ask for more, i would!! But as Arsenal fans as we all are looking at it from our protective point of view! I hope we sign the lad, he’s top drawer and glad to see youth players are starting to be signed again, thats about the 4th this close season so far, tell the scouting and youth network to keep up the spiffing job they are doing!

The agent knows that they are happy with the deal and are just waiting to let us know… hes simply wanting to squeeze more money out of us and once they know we wont budge, they’ll accept, sly move by him but that seems to be part and parcel of any transfer receltly.

He will sign, its just a move to get more money.

I don’t think the Nasri/agent thing is anything to worry about, it seems a pretty much standard practice these days, he just wants to get the most possible wages for his client, and so the biggest possible cut for himself.

Bit of a disappointing development, I hope he will sign. But Wenger has a habit of making signings out of the blue so with all this noise about Nasri about Wenger may actually end up getting Hatem Ben Arfa for a bit less. Still hope we get Nasri looks like an exciting player, and finally for a double figure mill price.

Do you think Francis Coquelin is likely to be in the Carling Cup squad for the 08/09 season? He can’t be ready for 1st team action can he after coming from the 3rd division of france football.

Despite Nasri’s agent being greedy I think as been stated by the same agent that Nasri is being impressed by what Arsenal offered from a sporting aspect.
Aulas confirmed that Arsenal is interested in Ben Arfa, so maybe Arsenal will use this news to their benefit, then Nasri’s agent will hurry up the deal and stop being greedy.
Or maybe Arsenal are really interested in bringing both players and if they can have only one of them that will still be good enough as they can look for the other one from somewhere else.
