Arsenal Could Have Edge In Ramsey Bid, Nasri News

Arsenal have entered the race for Cardiff City’s 17 year old winger Aaron Ramsey, according to reports in the Welsh capital. Cardiff based newspaper The South Wales Echo even claims Wenger could have the edge, as he could promote the exciting prospect to the first team immediately.

It seemed Manchester United had all but signed the prospect two weeks ago after holding initial talks, however with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side taking part in the Champions League final, it has allowed Arsenal further time to line up a potential bid.

It is thought that United would like to sign Ramsey, and then loan him back to Cardiff for next season to gain more experience, before he then returns to Old Trafford to fight for a first team place. But Wenger has a different plan for the Welsh Under 21 international, which involves Aaron being involved in the first team with the Gunners instantly. Following in the footsteps of Theo Walcott, who was signed from fellow Championship side Southampton.

Ramsey is valued at around £5 million, but Manchester United are willing to splash up to £10 million on the player many are calling “The New Ryan Giggs”. However Arsenal could do a similar deal in which brought the aforementioned Walcott to the club, where £8 million (or a fee close to that) is paid up front, with more cash to follow subject to appearances and goals.

City chairman Peter Ridsdale Confirmed today that he expects players to leave, but kept his cards close to his chest when it comes to Ramsey.

“I don’t know what is going to happen, I can’t guess what is going to happen. I don’t know if Manchester United or anyone else are going to come in with a firm bid for any of our players.

“But if a bid does come in and it meets our valuation, or the player concerned says they want to go, we will deal with it. The ideal scenario is for us to keep our players, but that is not something which is likely.”

Young Guns has kept you updated with reports about Samir Nasri, after La Provence claimed we had agreed a fee for the Marseille player, followed up with news that he was set to sign.

After a delay believed to have been caused by a clause in Nasri’s contract, demanding he cannot leave until the official end of the French League season. That deadline will have passed during the coming weekend, and now Setanta Sports are saying it will be completed next week.

Update: – French Sports radio station RMC reports Nasri was in London yesterday for a medical, before going back to the French training camp at Clairefontaine. – Thanks Vince

After many years of frustration watching Manure/Chelski/Liverpool/Spurs/Newcastle…all outspend us for telent. It would be a major boost for any genuine Gunner for AFC to welcome Ramsey to the fold. Unlike Manure..Arsene would give Aaron an early run in the first team squad thats guranteed, and going by the remarks of all the other young players coing in, this is the place to be when it comes to being cared for.

It would also prove once and for all that AFC & Arsene are are willing to pay for any top UK talent…..NOW THAT SAID, DONT SOD ABOUT AW, GO AND GET HIM AND NASRI NOW.

If he goes to Man Utd he’ll end up like Gillespie and greening and end up with a relegation struggler or championship side.

Great news on the Nasri deal, if its genuine, i was convinced he would sign else where but this news is encouraging. Also, i think that siging Ramsay for 5 million is pointless. I’ve seen him play a lot this season and he looks like a decent Championship player even though he is only 17. However, it would be a waste of 5 million at this stage of his career especially as we are always so a bunch tight assed with money.

I dont think we should be spending near on £10m for a 17 year old, British or not. £10m for a proven player is OK but he still has some way to go. If we get him then great but I wont lose any sleep if united get him.

Sanderson’s reasons make some sense. Ramsey wouldn’t get ahead of Hargreaves, Park, Nani, Tevez, Ronaldo or Rooney, who all play wide right or left. He wouldn’t play in the first team there for donkey’s years. At Arsenal the competition wide right or left is much less established. It’s really wait and see.

Does he spending his whole time giving the V to the ref and swearing at the fans?

U21 team? French? Central Midfielder? Kinda promising but no-one really knows a lot or how he’d perform for a big club? Sorry but I don’t think there is a box this fella doesn’t tick on AW Typical Signings.

Ramsey: Ehh. Also, he is as much a ACM as a winger, it’s just everyone saw him on the wing in the cup final and thought that’s where he is natural. For example, this is the first time I’ve heard the Giggs comparison while I am used to seeing him cast as New Gerrard/Scholes. Personally, we have Merida, Lansbury, Randall, Denilson, Diaby and Wilshere who can play in that position. And that is without mentioning Cesc, Rosicky, Hleb and if we sign him, Nasri. 8m+ seems like a lot of money spent in on positions we don’t need sorting, even in the Reserves! That said though, if Wenger genuinely thought we are buying Ramsey as a future no10 who will be as good as Bergkamp or Gerrard, then I trust him. He’s prove my doubts wrong enough times for me to do so.

If Nasri will not sign now then it will make me very, very sad. I will not go around like some people and wish for Wenger’s head. Like I said before, You win some, you lose some. But I am getting pretty certain that Nasri will sign.

But how many midfielders does this team need. Ramsey must be something really special if we are to pay 10 million for him. First of all, 10 millions is a lot for a 17 year old. Second of all, we do not seem to be short in midfield at all. So he at least has to be better than Denilson, Diaby, Merida and Lansbury if we are to buy him. I always welcome good young players but I think 10 million pounds could better be used in a centre back or a holding midfielder.

Anyways, I am not concerned about this. If Wenger buys him then I trust that he is bound to be a superstar. If he doesn’t, then he will rotten in United. Maybe we can sign him and sell him to United instead of Anderson :) god that kid is so good.

Hey, Walcott spent more than a season learning his game in Arsenal. Only towards end of last season that he got his chance. Ramsey will do the same. They all go through the same process. Even Fabregas. However, i’ve not seen him play, so i really can’t say if the 5 mil is worth. Didn’t we pay 10 mil for Walcott?

On Nasri, we can all speculate until he is really signed and announced. But isn’t that enjoyable and thats why we keep doing it over and over again because we don’t have football over the summer.

Ok, look at like this: Whenever Valencia won La Liga this decade, we have. But they tradtionally don’t have as much moolah as two clubs above them and are building a stadium to help genuinely compete in the future. Apt comparison I know. They finished a couple points from bloody relegation this season – throughout our whole time with our pockets being more than tightened we’ve always qualified for the Champions League.

It’s absurd that people just assume we don’t have debt for the giant stadium we now have that doesn’t need paying off. It’s great and all that other teams want to ignore letters in red they get sent by the bank but I’ve seen what’s happened to Leeds, Deportivo, Dortmund, Parma, Lazio, hell, bloody Gretna, and quite frankly knowing this team is not only still competeting for the title a week before the end of the season but will slowly be in a more powerful situation every year to battle for all honours, makes me feel at ease.

Stupid transfer guess of the day from moi: If Hleb leaves we will go for both HBA (or a cheap random winger we’ve never heard of who turns out to be fantastic) and Nasri. People keep saying Nasri is Hleb’s replacement but I don’t buy it for a second and unless AW comes out in the press and says he trusts Theo (subs: Lansbury, Randall, Eboue; in that order) I think a replacement will be bought.
