Arsenal To Try Again For Real Madrid's Pablo Sarabia

Reports in Spain are growing that Arsenal are set to poach Real Madrid’s free scoring striker Pablo Sarabia, with Spanish sports website Marca claiming the Gunners have already offered the 16 year old a contract, and have previously spoken to his parents just before the turn of the year.

Sarabia only turned 16 a few days ago, yet already possess a astonishing goal scoring record in similar vain to Bojan Krkic at rivals Barcelona. His transfer to North London would be a huge coup for the Gunners and one which Real Madrid will be disappointed to go through. But due to contract rules in Spain meaning players cannot sign professional until they are 17, it allows the cream of sides across the world the ability to poach the talented prospects.

Arsenal must now persuade Pablo’s parents that his future lies in London, and will be sure to use the examples of Fran Merida and Cesc Fabregas who have both made the jump from Spain to England, with the latter establishing himself as a first team regular inside the first two seasons since the transfer.

Liam Brady has already made two attempts to sign him during December but Madrid rebuffed the offers, and shortly after the Spanish Champions spoke with his parents, and tried to convince him to stay by offering improved terms, which initially he seemed happy with. However his agent has kept the Sarabia family updated with the clubs showing an interest which include Manchester United and Chelsea.

Arsenal are now set to make one final approach this summer for his services, and are waiting to see the outcome before deciding on the future of Greek trialist Nikos Karelis, who has spent 10 days on trial this month.

Setanta Sports reported a few months ago about the interest and claimed we had all but signed him, but although the deal is far from complete, Arsenal’s interest is serious and the deal should it happen will be sure to anger UEFA President Michel Platini, who has vowed to stop sides like the Gunners from signing young prospects from across Europe.

I dont think any side is happy when another club takes there best players, at any level.

No he didnt, apparently he was with the squad training, and Liam Brady was out there with the Ireland team so who knows what happened.

A big old Nelson Muntz’s (from the Simpsons) HA-HA! at Real Madrid. They try to unsettle Thierry, Vieira and Cesc but we screw them over in the end.

And as for Platini, why doesn’t he look at the shady links that Spanish newspapers “Marca” and “El Mundo” have with the Big Two, who always claim that they’ve signed our players- and isn’t Calderon’s promise of signing Fabreagas evidence of tapping up in the same vein as Inter?

And as for Sarabia- what a strike force we’ll have in 5 years time eh?

It seems to show that whatever happens in football, things even out eventually.

It may not be a huge buy as he is only 16, but he has serious talent and in time could be a superb option.

In fairness it is a little stronger than a rumour, its not quite raw speculation and sources like Marca and Setanta are respected

But i take your point that he isnt signed yet, and we shouldnt jump ahead before the deal is done.

It’s just funny when we steal young players from teams like Real and Barca, they so deserve it. It is a little more cruel, IMO, when we steal them from some small teams. But usually we pay some compensation that means a lot to the small teams.

We should not use the term stealing because this all legal. What is not legal is Real Madrid, Barca using the media to tap up our players. Remember Reyes, Viera? This is Wenger getting his own back for years of tapping up. Wenger sees no point in reporting them as it will only land them a 2k fine and a suspended points deduction.Whats even more sweet is that the corrupt Platini and Blatter who favour these clubs cannot do jack sh*t, Love it.

agree totally that Real deserve a beating for their tapping up those fucking cunts, just to remind you though lads, it is NOT a done deal and do we even need him with the strikers we have?? Barazite, walcott, Vela and bendtner (the youngish strikers)…

If this kid is even close as good as Bojan, than Yes, we do need him. If this kid comes than Freeman really has to start showing some magic. It will be hard for him ever to make it at Arsenal against Bendtner, Vela, Walcott, Barazite and Afobe plus another wonderkid if we get him.

yes but there is no NEED, unless he is bojan and pato status, then again we have vela, but I would be right in saying nearly none of us have seen him play so we are only hoping that he is a wonderkid because he i linked with arsenal.

If he has a goalscoring record that is similar to that of Bojan’s and he is playing at probabaly the most prestigious club in the world, Real Mardid, than I wouldn’t mind having him at my club..evin if i haven’t seen him play.

    Hi J.Sanderson,
Is it possible for you do an article on the 5 best youth players at Arsenal? Your articles are great and it would be really interesting to see your opinions

Just trying to help out Moh. Sanderson has an excellent player profile page which you can find in the top right corner of this page. The Top 5 list would probably look something like this (just to give you an idea):
    Merida, Barazite, Nordveit, Lansbury, Schezny

the way i look at signing young players is that these players have a chance that would have otherwise not there, or not for a while normally

if this guy scores heaps, we obviously want him – vela is no comparison, despite more mature perhaps – we need strikers who can score and if he turns out to be better than bendtner at 19 i’d be more than happy

Does anyone know Pablo Sarabia’s goal scoring stats? I know Bojan scored over 900 goals at youth level before playing for the 1st team.

I think goal scoring at youth level should not be taken very seriously, at all. When you get to U-18 than yes but otherwise it gives a false picture. Neil Mellor (yes the red headed cunt who scored against us in injury time) beat Michael Owen’s goal scoring record for the Liverpool youth setup. He is now playing for Preston North End.

Anyway. I hope we sign this guy, our future striking force would then look extremely encouraging. But as I said, that would probably end Luke Freeman’s hopes of ever making it at Arsenal.

Story is that Pablo Sarabia is not the only player we were looking at from the squads in Turkey.Sarabia like our own Ignasi Miquel didnt make the final squad for the championships but two other players that we are interested in are Thiago Alcantara and Guieda Forfana.Barcelona are said to be in a state of panic because of our interest in Thiago and Le Havre are on very good terms with Le Boss.
