Arsenal's Ghanaian Trialist Set For Salamanca Loan?

Reports in Africa claim Liam Brady and the Arsenal Youth development team have faxed an application containing the offer of a two week trial, to Ghanaian minnows Accra Hearts of Oak for their teenage midfielder Tawrick Jibril.

The Gunners head of scouting Steve Rowley has received regular reports on his progress from his team of fellow scouts based in Africa, and it seems we have jumped the Que of European sides who have also been tracking him with the a trial offer. Jibril’s club will now put the deal to the players parents, and should it be accepted he will arrive in London early next month, where he will under take two weeks of training with the Reserves and Youth teams.

The Ghanaian side have already set the fee for his release at $2 million US dollars, which is just under £1.5 million pounds, should Arsenal decide to snap up the starlet. It is thought that he will follow Carlos Vela, and Pedro Botelho to Spanish link club UD Salamanca on a year long loan deal.

Arsenal have an agreement with the Segunda side, which entails at least one non E.U player must be offered to the club each summer. It emerged earlier in the year that Salamanca have dropped the requirements of possible players, and they are now willing to accept African’s having previously only taken on South American starlets.

He would qualify for a work permit should an initial application be made, as Ghana are inside the top 70 countries in FIFA’s World rankings. But at 16 and having already made appearances for Accra Hearts’s first team in the African Champions League, it could be seen as a step down to then play in Arsenal’s Under 18’s & Reserves, so a switch to regular first team football in Spain would seem the perfect solution.

Tawrick is mainly a central midfield player, but can also play on the right hand side or as a support striker. His power and raw energy, combined with his goal getting instints have led to suitors from all over Europe, including Atlético de Madrid who have already been rebuffed in their attempts to sign the player.

I am interested in this having to send at least 1 Non-EU player out, does this mean we have to sign at least 1 non-EU player every season?

Also if you ever get the chance to watch Salamanca play, they pass the ball very well and use it expertly, so the players are getting used to our style.

Patrik has recently finished a loan spell at a small brazilian club, and could still be signed. As for Mputu, we wont be buying him.

Can’t see him get much first-team football at 16, but he must be a very good prospect to alert European clubs at that age. J., is there any news on Chantome? Sorry I’m asking here… Cheers, mate and keep up the good work.

    Hi there good find.

AW does like to take players on trial…

Just a quick point 2 mill dollar is just a little more than 1 mill pounds, and 2 mill euro is about 1.75 mill pounds.

Correcction: Accra Hearts of Oak is not by anyway shape or form a Minnnow club! It is the biggest Club in Ghana and has a fan base in MILLIONS. It is also the oldest club in Ghana, formed in 1911. The club is the only football club in the world to win a quadruple- yes, not a treble but a quadruple. They won the African Champions League, the league, the knockout Competition ( or your FA Cup equivalent) and the African Super Cup in the same year- that is in 2000.

For some history, they were also one of the first clubs to host Brazilian Champions Santos featuring the biggest names in world football at that time in Accra, Ghana. And when I say Santos of Brazil in the ’60s you know what kind of Stars they paraded right? By the way, the match ended 1-1.

Our scouting network is just ridiculous! I’m not saying this kid wlll make it but the global coverage our network has is amazing.

Don’t suppose you have anymore on Nasri JS? Personally i think the fact that it all seems to have gone relatively quiet is a good thing, hopefully the final few details are being put together and he’ll be an Arsenal player soon.

He wouldn’t qualify for a WP, as he hasn’t played 75% of Ghana’s national games in the past 2 years. Come on Sanderson! Basic stuff here :)

Anyway, phobiabird. Can you tell us a little more about Jibril? Is he born in ’91 or ’92? It must be a major achievement for a 18 year old to be a regular starter for a team of this stature.

Its the Wenger production line!!! Obviously not everyone will make the grade, but it makes sense to have several young players who have had a 1-2 years in the youth/reserves/loans to pick from each year.

I will reiterate the point made by phobiabird that Accra Hearts of Oak is not a minnow club JS. The reason why so many have not heard about it is that TBH most football fans in Europe know nothing about what is going on outside Europe and since those clubs do not participate in European competitions they obviously don’t know about the club but that does not mean it is a minnow club, they play some of the best football in Africa and some of the best African players you see here today have passed through some of those clubs. Yes in terms of money they are a small club but in terms of history and trophies they are a massive club.

J Sanderson, if 100% of Arsenal fans have not heard about Hearts of Oak, does that make the club a minnow? That is a lousy kind of thinking!!! From your write-up it seems the only kind of football you know is the one played in the premiership-that’s all.

Let me give you a history lesson: Before Sky and the Youtubes of the world, how many people in Asia, Latin America, Africa and even some parts of Eastern Europe have heard of Arsenal or Spurs? Probably a few! Does that make Tottehnam or Arsenal a minnow? By your rational, would you consider flamengos a minnow? Now go find out where the flamengos are located before you embarrass yourself.

Should you have done your homework (that’s what good writers do) you will not be using words you know nothing about and what they meant. By the way, you should also read about the relationship between Arsenal FC and Hearts of Oak dating back as far the early 1900’s. If you cannot find it on “Youtube” go the Emirates and ask the historians out there to help you out and they will!!

That wasnt the main point i made phobiabird, you should do your homework, and look at the other sections of this blog where i have talked about players from all over the world that are linked.

When it comes to revenue, quality and things like that, your club is a minnow.. COMPARED TO ARSENAL. Thats the point im making, i applogise if you feel i was disrespectful, but you have misunderstood the quote.

J.Sanderson, do you think that our agreement with Salamanca and Ossasuna would enable Arsenal to choose whichever players we like to loan to them or whichever the receiving clubs choose?
For instance I’m thinking of players such as Randal, Gibbs and Lansbury could have a great experience if they play abroad, imagine if they had the same experience like vela had with Salamanca and Osasuna, they would become really reliable and get more exposure to the world.
Even if they play with Salamanca in the second tier they would still attract More interest from the media as they are(English)players playing abroad which is very very rare, and that could open the door to the English players in general to have more confidence in them selves and try to test there skills abroad, they could learn a lot of skills that they cannot learn in England, and that would be one of the ways to shut Blatter and Platini from repeating the same story of Arsenal are the reason of England disaster, as those who impress will have a very good chance to break to the first team than the players that are playing in the reserves and couple of Carling cup games, they would experience a hardship of whole season abroad without their parents help which would be a mark becoming a real men that fears nothing.

JS… congrate and thank you for hosting a site with informatio that is believable and we Gooners can trust. Phobiabird was correct in his assesment of The mighty Hearts of Oaks. I see what you are coming from with your argument. But there are times where you have to respect other clubs as a professional. Minnows which means small, unestablish, new…. in comparison to established institutions. Hearts of Oaks is old, established, and Big in it’s geographic location. Just because the light never shine on that part of the world don’t means things there should be overlooked. And to say 99% of gunners do not know Hearts of Oaks means you have just discredited all the Africans both in Africa and abroad of their support of the Gunners. These are people who love AW for showing African footballers to the world (George Weah via Monaco), those who became Arsenal fans because of him. By the way if you watched the 7 dics DVD set titled History of soccer, The mighty Accra Heart of Oaks is feature on there in the Africa section. Some times it’s better to say sorry i did not know they were that big and let it go. Keep up the good work though, and God Bless.

guys we are set to sign him look below

ARSENAL are set to sign £1.5million African wonderkid Torric Jibril.

The midfielder, 16, will join the Gunners subject to a two-week trial next month from Ghanaian side Hearts of Oak.

Torric said: “I am ready to play under coach Wenger and I will be happy to show the world what I can do.

“I like the style of play of Arsenal because of the silky skills and that is what I can add to the team.

“If I am given the chance I know I can play in the first team – I am not afraid.

“We play before big crowds and even though they call me a small boy I am not afraid of them.”

Torric’s agent Prince Omar Ibrahim added: “We have received the documents from Arsenal inviting Torric for trials from June.

“We have taken the future development of the player into consideration and we all know that there is coach better than Arsene Wenger who can do the work

    Torric.

“We must not forget that for a multi-talented young African player he needs an African environment to probably flourish.

“Arsenal offers that more than any other team with several African players at the club.

“But Arsenal must be ready to pay the price demanded by his club and also assure us that he will develop well.

“Torric is the next big thing to hit world football and you need to see his unbelievable qualities.

“At this age to be playing in Ghana’s midfield full of talented players should tell you a lot.”

ALSO GUYS Carlos vela news below

CARLOS VELA says he cannot wait to finally play for Arsenal.

The Mexican striker, 19, has been in Spain for two years because of work permit problems.

But Vela will go on the Gunners’ pre-season tour.

He said: “I’ve been waiting two years for a work permit. Now my dream has come true.

“I have to take advantage of this opportunity to stay in England.

“I hope I’m lucky enough to be at Arsenal for a long time.

“I’ve achieved a lot in Spain. It has been a useful experience to play for several different teams and move around.

“At Osasuna I had a difficult experience because of the relegation battle but I always had a place in the team.

“I played well all season. But I expect to have a much better season next year.

“I’m sure all my efforts will pay off.

“I’ll be playing in one of the best teams in the world that plays competitions like the Champions League – I want those games as soon as possible.

“I have changed a lot, I’m more mature as a person and player.

    “I feel ready for Arsenal.”

Hi I’m from Ghana and incidentally a fan of Accra Hearts of Oak’s main rivals Asante Kotoko. I am not going to beat the “Minnows ” comment to death but I think “Ghanaian club” would have sufficed only because this is a club that is not only one of the top clubs in Ghana but has won the African equivalent of the Champions league several times. There are several clubs I would call minnows in Ghana and Africa for that matter but Hearts of Oak..naah

Hi, please show some respect , “minnow” is the wrong word! Accra Hearts of Oak is probably the oldest football team in Africa and twice Continental Club Champions a feat Arsenal has never achieved, yes their financial resources are much smaaller than Arsenal’s but money’s not everything, history, support etc. count for a lot. Not every African team is a minnow surely you can agree with that…. Read up here , peace! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accra_Hearts_of_Oak

PLease people just chill out, as an avid supporter of Arsenal for about 40 years standing and can say without any shame that I have never heard of Hearts of Oak, and Sanderson is quite right to say that most of us Aesenal supporters have never heard of them either.
This is not an insult or slight it’s just the plain truth and as for calling the club a minnow well maybe Accra Hearts of Oak need to up the marketing of their team on the world stage and we’d all then be in the picture.
I for one never knew that Aferica had a championss league, may be it would be a good idea for those of you who want us to be more aware of the football teams in Aferica to build a site and ask if it could be linked to good site like Young Guns.

If there was a site devoted to African Champions league Mr jazbo would you look at it. The only thing that makes arsenal known worldwide is television and internet. Calling a club a minnow means they are a small team with little known about them. Just because you have no interest in African soccer clubs doesn’t make Hearts of Oak a minnow. Do you guys really think that the world at large revolves around what you see and know? More people in Africa know about Hearts of Oak than your entire population in Western Europe.
