Praise For Barazite & First Pics Of Nasri As A Gooner?

Former Gunners player turned Arsenal TV analyst Stewart Robson, has heaped praise on 17 year old Dutch starlet Nacer Barazite. Speaking with the clubs official website Arsenal.com during the “Season Review Week”, he was asked which player in the current squad will be “One To Watch” for the coming season.

“The player who has impressed me with his intelligence, his football understanding, is Barazite.”

“I think he plays very much like Roy Wegerle. – He wasn’t a great player but he was a US international, played at the top level and got a championship medal with Blackburn.”

“Barazite, glides across the ground in a similar way and he has a combination of Dennis Bergkamp in his positional play and the athleticism and speed and ease of movement. I think he is the player who I am looking forward to seeing next year. I think he will get Carling Cup games, get goals and get into a position where he is challenging for the Pemier League games.”

Quotes From Arsenal.com

Robson made 150 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 16 goals before spells at West Ham and Coventry, but since his retirement he has become a co-commentator for the clubs official TV station. He offers analysis for every first team game, and often sits in on the Reserves fixtures, meaning he has a first hand look at the clubs prospects.

Barazite has been linked with various Championship clubs on loan, however it is thought that Wenger will keep the player at the club and he will feature during the Carling Cup campaign. Nacer is expected to feature for Holland during the UEFA Under 19 European Championship qualifying rounds, in which team mate Fran Merida is the current holder of the title, after winning the competition with Spain last year.

Finally, this picture looks like it could be the first photo of Samir Nasri as an Arsenal player. It was taken yesterday at France’s Clairefontaine training headquarters, as he and the other French players warmed up before the evening training session.

Wearing white and blue Puma boots, he jogged with Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda, along with former Gunner Lassana Diarra, and Saint Étienne forward Bafé Gomis. Franck Ribery was also at the training session, 24 hours after an interview with L’Equipe in which he revealed Nasri’s transfer to Arsenal.

Does any have any info the other french midfielders we are ment to be signing? St Etienne duo Mouhamadou Dabo and Blaise Matuidi. Also what to people think to Armand Traore playing more next season on left midfield i think he looks good, fast runs at defenders and has good shot/cross.

The reason Diarra went to Pompey is because he was promised more playing time. Apparently Wenger was going to give him more chances during the January month but he made his mind up very quickly and left.

Wenger hasn’t confirmed he is signing, far from it. He said we have a chance of getting him & that if he does sign then it should be before the euro’s. To me thats says Nasri or his agent hasn’t made his mind up yet.

either position, mainly left i feel with Walcott on the right.

Wenger said he wont be buying a direct replacement for Flamini, so Diaby or Djourou, or Gilberto will play there.

Now Diarra has spoken out and suggested Wenger has been ‘careless’ in allowing Mathieu Flamini’s contract to run down, thus letting the midfielder join Milan on a free transfer.

“I really can’t understand why Mr Wenger is choosing to make such a fuss over me again,” Diarra said in the News of the World.

“Why does he not move on? He speaks about me more than when I was there. It’s a very strange one.”

    Diarra continued:

“Perhaps to lose one French international midfielder may be regarded as misfortune. To lose two looks like carelessness.

“Do you really think I would leave a side like Chelsea to join Arsenal if certain promises were not made? I did not panic but wanted to play as promised.

“Portsmouth winning the FA Cup has more than justified my decision to make the move from Arsenal back in January.”

I wouldn’t say it was “careless” letting Flamster go. He was basically average for his prior seasons. Only when his contract was about to be up did he stay and kick it up a notch. And why do you think that was? Because he was playing for the new contract! It’s well known athletes play their best in their final year. Mark my words, Flamini will never hit the heights for AC that he did for us this year… until the final year of his Milan deal!

i was on the french league website and looking up nasri stats and found that he has 10 assists aswell as 6 goals so if he could get 6 goals at marseille he could probably double his tally at arsenal which would come in handy with us arsenal having a lack of goalscorers from midfield.and with his assists tally he could take less pressure off fabregas because fabregas always has to be the creater.

I rate Barazite and i promised my Dutch mate that he was guna make it at the club, so i dont want to end up lookin emmabressed (although i also wouldent want him in the first team if hes way off par, but having seen him alot for the reserves and u18s that doesnt look like its the case… hes a great young player). Nasri coming to us if great, i dont want to big it up as monumental because these things can always go wrong, or not be as wonderful as you expected, just look at what happened to Morientes and Cisse at Liverpool, i meen both were expected to become massive players at the club, and both achieved little, but Wenger is experianced enough that when he signs a player as a first team player, he gets it right, not so great at gettin in squad players, but i think hes learned from his mistakes in that department over the years. If Hleb goes Nasri is similar to him positionally and playing wise, but as ive said before he has end product which is what Hleb often doesnt, but again, its a good transfer, good be brilliant, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The difference between Moro/Cissé and Nasri? Nasri is scouted by Arsenal and Wenger, Moro/Cissé was scouted by the media which is Liverpools only scouting together with Rafas old friends in Spain.

I Cant argue with that, and in fact i agree with you, i dont believe Nasri will turn out to be a bad signing, hes got too much quality, and his style of play fits with our style of play, all im saying is we shouldent place too much expectation on his shoulders, by all means be exited, but he will take time to adapt, and he wont be scoring hattricks every game (realitically he wont, if he does ill tattoo his name accross my torso and prostrate myself nude to the Arsenal sign near the emirates statium in his honour, you heard it here first…) but he wont, and at times (although arsenal fans dont suffer from this half as bad as fans of some other clubs *cough*chelsea*cough*, fans expect a big name signing to come out and blitz every single opposition single handed, we just need to give him time, and dont burden him with too much expectation surrounding his individual performances when he plays.

Johnny Maverik: Newsnow is a site that is is linked to a bunch of different websites on a particular topic that you can filter for (i.e. Arsenal in this case). It automatically publishes links (with headlines) for stories that are published on the partner news sites as they get posted. It also publishes a list of most viewed stories on the right hand column. It’s actually pretty neat you should check it out Johnny Maverik – but back the original point – the point still stands…Misleading Headline!!
