Former Gunners player turned Arsenal TV analyst Stewart Robson, has heaped praise on 17 year old Dutch starlet Nacer Barazite. Speaking with the clubs official website Arsenal.com during the “Season Review Week”, he was asked which player in the current squad will be “One To Watch” for the coming season.
“The player who has impressed me with his intelligence, his football understanding, is Barazite.”
“I think he plays very much like Roy Wegerle. – He wasn’t a great player but he was a US international, played at the top level and got a championship medal with Blackburn.”
“Barazite, glides across the ground in a similar way and he has a combination of Dennis Bergkamp in his positional play and the athleticism and speed and ease of movement. I think he is the player who I am looking forward to seeing next year. I think he will get Carling Cup games, get goals and get into a position where he is challenging for the Pemier League games.”
Quotes From Arsenal.com
Robson made 150 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 16 goals before spells at West Ham and Coventry, but since his retirement he has become a co-commentator for the clubs official TV station. He offers analysis for every first team game, and often sits in on the Reserves fixtures, meaning he has a first hand look at the clubs prospects.
Barazite has been linked with various Championship clubs on loan, however it is thought that Wenger will keep the player at the club and he will feature during the Carling Cup campaign. Nacer is expected to feature for Holland during the UEFA Under 19 European Championship qualifying rounds, in which team mate Fran Merida is the current holder of the title, after winning the competition with Spain last year.
Finally, this picture looks like it could be the first photo of Samir Nasri as an Arsenal player. It was taken yesterday at France’s Clairefontaine training headquarters, as he and the other French players warmed up before the evening training session.
Wearing white and blue Puma boots, he jogged with Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda, along with former Gunner Lassana Diarra, and Saint Étienne forward Bafé Gomis. Franck Ribery was also at the training session, 24 hours after an interview with L’Equipe in which he revealed Nasri’s transfer to Arsenal.

Nacer Barazite- Russia 2 Netherlands 2
Nacer Barazite was on target as the Netherlands were held to a 2-2 draw by Russia in their opening game of the Elite Qualifying Round. After taking a touch, the highly rated youngster smashed the ball into the back of the net.The Netherlands take on Greece tomorrow looking for their first win in the qualifiers.
Doesn’t he wear adidas?
If you look close enough, you can just make out the Arsenal shirt he’s wearing uncerneath his track top.
lmfao. He’s wearing his national team gear, sponsered by French TV station TF1 who Wenger did an interview with last night.
We could do worse than buy Gomis too…especially if Adebayor leaves.
Nice post, thanks to you and Gooner Chris for your continued coverage of ‘silly season’. :)
yea just saw the link, cheers mate
My only concern is him training alongside Diarra – God knows what shit he is feeding him
i have a question for you J.S and gooner chris ?
when tony adams was interviewed recently he mentioned that arsene knows the reason diarra went to pompey and that he also knows now thru diarra ? what do you think he meant ? isfnasri has signed then will be a great addition and lets also get gomis ? he could be another drogba minus the diving and slapping :-0 !!!
Oh jesus! Yes coz I was being serious!
What I meant to say was, you can just make out the outline of his new Arsenal underpants
Like Sanderson said in yesterday’s post, the transfer is likely to be announced on Tuesday as tomorrow is a Bank Holiday in England.
lol its not an arsenal top man
I said lmfao because I knew you were joking ;)
Does any have any info the other french midfielders we are ment to be signing? St Etienne duo Mouhamadou Dabo and Blaise Matuidi. Also what to people think to Armand Traore playing more next season on left midfield i think he looks good, fast runs at defenders and has good shot/cross.
Haha! Soz Gooner Chris!
The St Ettiene players? seems like bullshit to me mate, ill look in to it
The reason Diarra went to Pompey is because he was promised more playing time. Apparently Wenger was going to give him more chances during the January month but he made his mind up very quickly and left.
Look at Diarra training next to him, he’s probably trying to convince him not to go to Arsenal the little rat. lol
I’ve heard us being linked with Dabo, thats as bad as the Chantome rumours IMO :D
Maybe Diarra was gay, and Wenger didnt agree with it :D
Mabye he is talking to Bafé Gomis with diarra and anelka who know they left the club to early also telling Gomis to join as he is a top player
haha
yeah i understood that but tony’s comments came from nowhere specific ? i didnt understand the relevance unless a condition of diarra moving was first dibs on krancjar ?
so if the nasri deal is done what position will he play left, right or center mid and are we gonna get a replacement for flamini or will gilberto cover it .
Wenger hasn’t confirmed he is signing, far from it. He said we have a chance of getting him & that if he does sign then it should be before the euro’s. To me thats says Nasri or his agent hasn’t made his mind up yet.
either position, mainly left i feel with Walcott on the right.
Wenger said he wont be buying a direct replacement for Flamini, so Diaby or Djourou, or Gilberto will play there.
If Nasri signs will be the ‘creative midfielder’ Wenger wanted or a Hleb replacement?
I would still like to see 2 further midfield signings (CM and Ben Arfa) after Nasri.. Am i dreaming?
Yeh maybe but that dabo seems like could be good squad player for us, as he can play CM plus full back. Never heard of him thou. Who else you reckon we will sign this summer then ppl? Cos we will be 3 players dwn, with 1 in so far by the looks of it.
cheers js
Stuart Robson is a top pundit. Much better than so many of the muppets on tv.
Now Diarra has spoken out and suggested Wenger has been ‘careless’ in allowing Mathieu Flamini’s contract to run down, thus letting the midfielder join Milan on a free transfer.
Diarra continued:
Quotes from Setanta Sports
I would like to see Flamini and Hleb replaced + a couple more of Wenger’s summer targets bought in… Think i’m pushing my luck though!
I wouldn’t say it was “careless” letting Flamster go. He was basically average for his prior seasons. Only when his contract was about to be up did he stay and kick it up a notch. And why do you think that was? Because he was playing for the new contract! It’s well known athletes play their best in their final year. Mark my words, Flamini will never hit the heights for AC that he did for us this year… until the final year of his Milan deal!
i was on the french league website and looking up nasri stats and found that he has 10 assists aswell as 6 goals so if he could get 6 goals at marseille he could probably double his tally at arsenal which would come in handy with us arsenal having a lack of goalscorers from midfield.and with his assists tally he could take less pressure off fabregas because fabregas always has to be the creater.
Diarra’s probably saying “You’re a Moron for going to Arsenal”. That bitter little balloon headed cunt.
I bet diarra has neva spoken to nasir till now the twat ope fully henry will talk sum sense to him and gallas and anelka ;-)
Gomis looks like Predator 2!
Ho come Gomis’s head is twice as big as anyone elses? is he a genetic experiment!?!
setanta and sksports have cottoned on to Wenger’s french TV interview
maybe him and diarra are long lost brothers!
Which isn’t surprising. They scour blogs like mine and Jamies for info to claim as their own.

ah, so that’s why wenger only offer 1-year deals for players over 30.
Maybe Jamie’s Chris…but not your blog
Consequently doing their jobs for them hey. Keep up the good work. Top posts!
are france playing tnyt coz i jus found a link for a match at 8;15??
gomis is good, i wonder where he’s going?
“Which isn’t surprising. They scour blogs like mine and Jamies for info to claim as their own.”
Either that or they just watched the interview…
How come I posted it this morning and it took them till 4:00 this afternoon for them to put it up?
I can’t imagine anyone scouring for information from your blog Chris.
JS is barazite any good??..is he the nxt big thing??
JS, when is the decision made on the scholars and who will be being retained by the club
I rate Barazite and i promised my Dutch mate that he was guna make it at the club, so i dont want to end up lookin emmabressed (although i also wouldent want him in the first team if hes way off par, but having seen him alot for the reserves and u18s that doesnt look like its the case… hes a great young player). Nasri coming to us if great, i dont want to big it up as monumental because these things can always go wrong, or not be as wonderful as you expected, just look at what happened to Morientes and Cisse at Liverpool, i meen both were expected to become massive players at the club, and both achieved little, but Wenger is experianced enough that when he signs a player as a first team player, he gets it right, not so great at gettin in squad players, but i think hes learned from his mistakes in that department over the years. If Hleb goes Nasri is similar to him positionally and playing wise, but as ive said before he has end product which is what Hleb often doesnt, but again, its a good transfer, good be brilliant, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Sure. 8)
What’s the storie on the norwegian central defender js? Do you think he’ll make it and will we see him in the carling cup or even in the first team next year?

The difference between Moro/Cissé and Nasri? Nasri is scouted by Arsenal and Wenger, Moro/Cissé was scouted by the media which is Liverpools only scouting together with Rafas old friends in Spain.
“The difference between Moro/Cissé and Nasri? Nasri is scouted by Arsenal and Wenger, Moro/Cissé was scouted by the media which is Liverpools only scouting together with Rafas old friends in Spain.”
I Cant argue with that, and in fact i agree with you, i dont believe Nasri will turn out to be a bad signing, hes got too much quality, and his style of play fits with our style of play, all im saying is we shouldent place too much expectation on his shoulders, by all means be exited, but he will take time to adapt, and he wont be scoring hattricks every game (realitically he wont, if he does ill tattoo his name accross my torso and prostrate myself nude to the Arsenal sign near the emirates statium in his honour, you heard it here first…) but he wont, and at times (although arsenal fans dont suffer from this half as bad as fans of some other clubs *cough*chelsea*cough*, fans expect a big name signing to come out and blitz every single opposition single handed, we just need to give him time, and dont burden him with too much expectation surrounding his individual performances when he plays.
Wenger doesnt spend 10million+ pound often , But when he does he gets some good players for sure,
So it looks like the transfer merry go round is falling in to place: Pjanic has agreed his move to Lyon, which frees up Ben Arfa to Marseilles and this of course means Samir Nasri can sign for Arsenal!
Can’t beleive that I was heartly certain that Arfa wud sign for us along wid nasri!!
I can’t believe nobody has called you on this yet but I clicked on the story because it said ‘first pics of Nasri as s gooner’ which led me to believe that there’s pictures of Nasri as a gooner – i.e. in a gunners shirt or doing something for Arsenal. Pretty likely why its also the number one link on Newsnow. Incredible site Jamie but you might want to make sure that your headlines aren’t too misleading!
cheers
Ok i dont actually know what Newsnow is, but if its another site that broadcasts the news, and they’ve put the link up because it says “nasri in an Arsenal shirt”, and they think it means hes signed and theres picture proof, doesnt that just serve them right for not actually reading the article?
If Diarra want to play in first team as Promised, he had to work hard, beat Flamini, beat Gilberto, beat Diaby n Denilson. It’s because Diarra not better than those DM mentioned above.I cant see any lost of Diarra departures… Diarra really suits for a substandard club…
Johnny Maverik: Newsnow is a site that is is linked to a bunch of different websites on a particular topic that you can filter for (i.e. Arsenal in this case). It automatically publishes links (with headlines) for stories that are published on the partner news sites as they get posted. It also publishes a list of most viewed stories on the right hand column. It’s actually pretty neat you should check it out Johnny Maverik – but back the original point – the point still stands…Misleading Headline!!
Hey, goonertalk thanks, you picked up my article :)
I’m honored that you actually thought its worth. Thanks again.
Ah, lets not waste time on this diarra thingy, he’s a loser. Period.
