Ramsey Bid Rejected, Nasri 99% Ours, Crawley Friendly

As Young Guns reported last week Arsenal have entered the race to sign Cardiff City’s highly rated winger Aaron Ramsey. The Gunners who reportedly bid £1 million pounds for his services last year, have had a second offer of around £5 million also turned down.

Liverpool have also made a bid close to Arsenal’s, but this was also rejected. This fresh news means that it seems Manchester United’s lack of first team places could scupper their attempts to sign the player. City manager Dave Jones is already resigned to losing the prospect, but the club are standing their ground over the transfer fee, with the Welsh side wanting close to £8 million.

Its is expected that Arsene Wenger will return with a further offer, which would include a cash fee up front with extra money based on appearances. However Tottenham are also watching the transfer, but the lure of Champions League football would seem to rule Spurs out.

The Welsh media also said last week that Arsenal could be Ramsey’s preferred destination, as Wenger would let the 17 year old fight for first team football immediately, to fast track his development. Aaron has two years left on his current contact with Cardiff, but no talks have begun over a new one and their is no hopes that he will commit to The Blue Birds on a long term basis.

Samir Nasri has told French radio station RTL that his transfer to Arsenal is “almost done” and that the move “should be resolved in the coming days.” Young Guns watched him last night and despite some websites reporting he was poor, the majority of watching fans were very impressed. Read more about it over at Gooner Talk.

Finally, Arsenal have announced they will be playing Crawley Town in a pre-season friendly, and whilst not date for the fixture has been set it is expected to take place in late July.

Crawley boss Steve Evans said:

“It is tremendous to have a team like Arsenal coming to Crawley.

“I’ve been speaking to academy director Liam Brady for some time about the possibility of them coming here and last week I got the call to confirm they are coming. I think there will be a mixture of players that they will bring. I expect a team of players that are in and around the first team squad.”

We shouldn’t pay over the odds for Ramsey, the Walcott deal cost up to £12 million due to add on’s. Hopefully the kid chooses the right club for him – Arsenal!

Many said we paid over the odds for Walcott, but im time he is proving his worth, its clear Wenger see’s some qualities in this boy, and should we match Cardiff’s valuation i would expect he would choose us.

I have not seem loads of him, but he can play right/left/central midfield or as a support striker.

Has great close control and an eye for getting in the box and score, similar to Hleb/Pires but of course not yet at that level.

Thanks now I have a small picture, but I would prefer if he was an Ovemars or Giggs kind of a player, because Wilshere is already a mix of Hleb/Pires.

He has the width of Overmars, but the skills of somebody like Hleb, but things are early days at the moment.

I will try to get a Cardiff fan to come tell us about him

-Generally he has been a disappointment. Other than the hatrick on the last day of the season, he has been too arrogant with little to show for it. Like he’s taking the ronaldinho comparisons too seriously. He could be good if he wasn’t in an imploding team like this seasons Barca, I guess, but City and Spurs really seem pointless for him and if he does go its a great talent terribly wasted.

With Ramsey, I haven’t seen him play so i could get shot down over this, i don’t think we should sign him as from what i hear he plays like, we already have youngsters that fit that bill. We have Vela, Wilshire, Merida and also lets not forget Walcott is only 2 years older than him. All i am saying is do we really need him or would we be buying him so that other teams can’t?
Loving the fact that we have basically signed Nasri. Can’t wait for that to be confirmed :-)

James Sanderson, rumour has it that you’re only 17 and if you are I look forward to many years of reading your latest articles. AFC is swamped by absolutely useless blogs and it’s so refreshing to find a young arsenal fan who obviously has reliable sources.

Keep up the good work and think very hard about seriously pursuing a career in journalism. Write to myles palmer of ANR and get some advice or something but you certainly have a bright future.

All the fuss about ben arfa and he didn’t make it to the Euros but our very own 20 year old Nasri has. What an excellent signing.

Hey JS, not completely related to this but i saw a few stories linking John Bostock to Spurs of all places (quotes from Neil Warnock). I’m staggered considering he’s supposed to be one of the premier young talents in European football (rejected Barcelona)… Also i would be very suprised if we weren’t in for him. Bringing both him and Ramsey to Arsenal would be a real coup. Do you have any news on that JS?

it would be nice to win a battle against man utd, even if it’s for a player. i believe he wants to come at arsenal, cause he can develop quicker @ afc and i’m optimistic about his signing. i think the club wants to get as much money as possible, that’s why they rejected this offer.

he’s obviously a very good player if so many top clubs are tracking him.

He is a young Keeper mate. Really good aswell i think he has been in the first team at wolves this season. I think that he would be a good signing but i don’t really think that it’s true that we will get him, we have Almunia who will prob be number one next season and then there will be Fabianski on the bench who is young aswell and then there is i think Mannone (could be wrong with that though) as back up to both of them. If he doesn’t get bought this season then maybe we might get him next but i very much doubt that we will want him this season.

we have to sing aarom ramsey this kid will adapt to the premiership straight away hes more mature than walcott hes physically stronger got good pace but not electric. But he can keep the ball in tight areas and find a pass hes exactly like hleb but he can play acorss the midfield and can play deeper when he wants to in a roy keane role. Hes a brilliant dribbler him and jack wilshere could be brilliant for arsenal.

By the way arsenal should buy mark beevrs from sheffield united hes 18 6ft4 5 a big commanding Cb whos got pace

I thoght we usually played Barnet…. are we still playing Bernet?

If Ramsey costs 8 give them 8, its not that much, i meen Walcott has probbly cost us 12 by now and bale cost tottenham 10, 8 seems almost reasonable.

Im trying to block out the Nasri transfer now, its mentally destabalising me, i meen its always “in the next to days”, but hes never signed. Still cant wait though xD
