Swansea Eyeing Arsenals Murphy & Emmanuel-Thomas

Speculation is growing amongst Swansea City fans that manager Roberto Martínez has spoken to Arsenal regarding the potential loan signings of two of the clubs Under 18 players.

The players in question are the impressive and versatile Under 18 skipper Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, and free scoring striker Rhys Murphy. Both are England Under 17 Internationals, and both will be second year scholars next term, however Liam Brady is expected to offer the pair professional terms later this year.

The source of this latest news, is not the strongest as its a Swansea FC Forum. But the poster seems particularly insistent, and another two posters also talk about Murphy. So do not rule out the possibility of one or both ending up at the Swans.

Various scouts from clubs all over the country have been at our Reserves games recently, to look at possible players who could leave on loan, with Derby boss Paul Jewell the latest manager to confirm an interest in the Young Guns.

“I’ve spoken to Arsene about having a look at a couple of his youngsters.”

“What I said is if he is prepared to loan anyone, would he let us know. It benefits everybody and so it’s something I will be speaking to him about.”

So who could go on loan? i would expect many of professional players, including Nacer Barazite and maybe Havard Nordtveit could be loaned, as well as the current second years that will not be released. So the following could all be getting experience on loan next term.

    Hi,

As much as i’d like the rumour to be true I wouldn’t particularly trust the rumours page on http://www.scfc.co.uk. Very, very rarely do the posters on that section get the true facts correct. Swans loaning young gunners is not beyond the realms of possibility though as both Ferguson and Benitez were happy to loan us young talent this season. Good site mate, all the best for the future.

Sure, i was rather keen to suggest that the site isnt that reliable, but one or two people mentioned it to me.

Both players should be going out on loan, so everything fits.

I honestly think that they all should go on loan for the season next year because we would then be able to tell who can handle it in a first team for a club and who is good enough to play for arsenal. its exciting times for arsenals youths and reserves because i think we have the best by far

This sounds pretty interesting as Swansea just got promoted into the Championship. You never know how many players will be loaned. Last season we had so many but this we only had a couple, until the second part of the season.

Swansea certainlly seems an interesting place for the boys to go, as things are developing at the club quickly.

I think Emmanuel-Thomas will be fine with the physical side of lower league football, but Murphy may strugle if the move takes place
