The notoriously slow Arsenal.com officially confirmed today what Carlos Vela News, and various other news sources have known about for the past two days. Carlos Vela has been granted Spanish citizenship, meaning he can finally complete his long awaited switch to Arsenal.
Many people are unsure of the rules around work permits, and the reasons why he could not join the Gunners straight away. Well in this article Young Guns will give you the full story on his transfer, as well as a summary of what we can look forward to next season.
The Vela story starts at the Under 17’s World Cup in Peru during late 2005. Carlos finished the top scorer in the tournament as Mexico beat Brazil in the final, thanks to a goal from the then 16 year old. After the World Cup, Jorge Vergara, owner and president of Chivas de Guadalajara. Offered him a professional contract, and since the Vela family lived in the then recently storm stricken Cancún, Carlos asked that as a condition to his signing with Guadalajara, the club also help relocate his family.
Just months after penning the deal, Steve Rowley Arsenal’s chief scout had read various reports on his progress, and a decision was made to bring the young Mexican to North London. In November 2005 an offer of £2.5 million was faxed to the minnows, which Vergara accepted and after a medical, he penned terms on a 5 year contract. The full fee would be made after appearances and goals.
However due to issues with non-EU citizens coming to England it seemed he would not be able to make the move, further doubt was cast after the Gunners had a “Exceptional Talent” visa application turned down. But David Dein agreed to send the prospect to Celta de Vigo on loan in January 2006, unfortunately he made no appearances during the spell and was subsequently sent to UD Salamanca for the next season.
After 8 goals in 31 games, Arsene Wenger, who had by now become a huge fan of the prospect, decided he needed a fresh challenge, and he was placed on the loan list. CA Osasuna then signed him for the next season, where he helped the club avoid relegation and had now developed into a left winger.
Having now finished the loans, earlier last week the application was made for Spanish citizenship. After meeting the criteria of spending over two years as a resident in Spain it was of course granted, meaning now he can move to Arsenal, as both Spain and England are members of the European Union. Wenger has already said Carlos will be used as a striker, and will be a member of the first team showing the faith he has in young players.
Vela’s agent Eduardo Hernandez has rebuffed claims the loan spells have made a mockery of the transfer, and confirmed his client will join pre season training in July saying:
“Despite the critics that we have received for making Carlos play at Celta Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna, these spells have been very important for preparing for life in the Premier League,”
“He has worked the amount of time required by the Premier League and everything is going fine.
“He has been granted permission to play and will be joining Arsenal in July for the beginning of pre-season training.
So now Vela is free to start his career with the Gunners, and finally he is an Arsenal Football Club Player!. Finally in a fitting way to end this saga, Hernandez said:
“But they (The Loans) are over now and a new chapter in his career can begin.”
Article By – J.Sanderson
Can’t see him really doing much next season to be honest. Ade, Bentner and RVP will all be infront ot of him
Nice article J S, but do you think he will be used in the starting 11 of the team or just used for carling cup?
He’ll be carling cup and almost certainly on the bench for most prem games i’d expect much like Bendtner has done this season
Looks like he’ll give Sagna competiton for worst haircut at the club.
Bang on the money JohnV, i expected him to be exactly like Bendtner, used in the cups and maybe the league at times.
another great article!
can i make a suggestion for an article showing the youth players that have been realeased by the club….obviously when they are released, but bit would be nice to know where some of the youngsters like Dunne and Simpson end up.
Keep up the good work!!
Great article as always JS.Looking forward to seeing him in action after the dreaded adaptation period.Good thing he won’t be meeting that career killer Martin Taylor in the premiership.
The notoriously slow Arsenal.com
lmao I like that lol
With regards to the now infamous Nasri transfer just lookd on the Marsaille forum and with a bit of help from google translator it seems like there talking of him goin to Inter Milan as supposidly hes said: I will first of all to renew my contract until 2012 but I can not deny the interest of some big teams to me. (…) I talked with Patrick Vieira and he said that Inter is a great club with structures of quality and great players. Play with Ibrahimovic would be ideal: power, technical, class, he embodies the modern attacker. And then I have always been the calcio. “
Sorry just realised that was frm April my bad
Who were these critics? Don’t see anything wrong with the way it’s gone to be honest.
guys don’t forget that from next season, teams can have seven subs, so he will definitely make the bench, if not start.
Its been in Spain Jimmy, people have slated the club for loaning him out over and over again.
Press love an excuse to have ago at Arsenal
I am really excited to see him play. I hope that the Mexico game in June will be sold here in the USA. Anyway, I agree that he will be used like Bendtner was this season. I think he will play more though, because he can cover different positions. Bendtner really only played when Ade didn’t play but Vela can play on the flanks and probably with any striker at the club.
Good point Jonty. This new haircut is disscusting. I hope he doesn’t stay with it, cause he was a decently looking lad before ;)
JS can u make another story 4 the Nasri situation so we can all discuss it please?? People arn’t likely to come in the Vela section 2 talk about it! cheers mate!
Talk about Nasri in the previous topics mate, there is no new developments to write about.
If something new comes up then i will.
nasri wats the update with him
The Nasri fixation is unbelievable……..calm down guys and take it easy, if he comes fine and if not we move on to others…..
Hes got to make an impression quick if he wants to play a major role next season im afraid because Adebayor and Van Persie (if fit) will be the first pick from the start for sure, Bandtner and Walcott will need games to continue their development, and Vela will have to show hes worth a start ahead of either of them before Eduardo comes back, and if he doesnt i can see him playing a diminishing role in the first team once Eduardo returns. To be honest im a bit worried about how he fits in Long term either, all our strikers are young, even Eduardo, Van Persie and Adebayor, and we have Fonte, Barazite and Simpson in the reserves who are all looking decent, not to mention Freeman wh0 will break into the reserves next season.
Yh i suppose so! Oh well Vela is a good bit of news for us anyway! I just hope we can bring in the 3-4 top class players we really need to spruce things up!! By the way I have seen a story reporting that Ancelotti wants to bring Adebayor to Milan…??Any1 else heard that?? Its on sky sports website!
I’m looking forward to seeing Vela play, but I don’t expect to see much of him until the latter part of the season apart from in the Carling Cup, barring an injury crisis. He’s got plenty of time to make it here though.
Describing Chivas as minnows seems a bit unfair though, as far as I was aware, they are one of the biggest clubs in Mexico.
I guess the Spanish press are unsure of the rules around work permits aswell.
“Carlos Vela has been granted Spanish citizenship, meaning he can finally complete his long awaited switch to Arsenal.”
That is entirely false, you need to correct that and stop passing along bad info. Vela’s Spanish passport is still in the application phase, awaiting approval. What he was granted yesterday (and his agent leaked that info after 2pm est yesterday, so arsenal.com producing an article this morning is actually efficient) was a BRITISH work permit, nothing to do with his Spanish passport application. You are confusing two entirely separate issues. He needs a work permit because he isn’t an EU citizen. Since his citizenship probably won’t be processed for another year (govt isn’t efficient) he needs a BRITISH work permit to play the 2008-2009 season with Arsenal.
T.G. Adebayor has a long term contract and if he will be sold, we will receive about 30 millions pounds. If he goes for that much, I would be happy. He is important but not irreplacable.
Adebayor going nowhere!! When he came he couldn’t score with girls never mind goals but wenger kept faith in him and he owes Wenger and he knows that
Adebayor wouldn’t leave for 30 million pounds but he would go for a substantial amount [probably 18-22 mill]. Remember this was his first big season and even Wenger claimed that he would have to keep his head down and perform at that level consistently before considering a new, improved contract. But if we got anywhere near 30 mill I would let Adebayor go in a heartbeat. Zlatan, Villa, Eto’o and Benzema are but a few who are much better than him at this present moment…much better.
Simmo,
I’m with you on that matter of UK work permit.
If Vela is granted Spanish citizenship, then he won’t need a separate work permit to work in the UK. However, with the application for it still processing/being reviewed, it was a safe thing for the Arseanl to apply for the work permit. I’m a non-EU national, working in the UK, and my employer had to apply for the permit. On being granted it, I could start work legally. But work permit is only for a fixed time period, which is made invalide if the employment contact is terminated prematurely. Or if the person working with the permit switches to another job, then the new employer must apply for the permit again. That being said, once Vela gets his spanish passport, everything will be far easier for him and his employer.
im sorry but is velas hair WHITE?
yeah its all great saying i would let him go but lets be smart now Villa is not coming arsenal and wont ever he will stay in spain with barca or Real.Eto dried up thats why he’s linked with newcastle and spurs and Benzema said he wouldn’t come england.
I really hope Vela will have a great career with Arsenal but I don’t think he will play a lot of games as a striker this season.
The Adebayor new got me excited too, it could be a dream if Adebayor is sold for anything more than 13 million pound, as we would get rid of one of the main culprits of Arsenal’s failure this season, and at the same time Arsenal could find little more money from their pockets to add to the money that they receive from his sale to bring a really world class forward that buries opportunities with ease, and actually could take on several defenders to score a goal on his own.
On another note is the news about Clement Chantome in this link true:
http://217.204.41.132/cgi/NGoto/2/277310723?1244
I thought J.Sanderson would bring the confirmation first like in the Francis Coquelin case and others before.
Clement Chantome is describe in the link above as a Deschamp kind of a player and Francis Coquelin is a Makelele type, so that means Arsenal will enough depth to able to sell any unhappy player without suffering.
It can make fans happy and sad at the same time for different reasons.
I feel there is a trend now with Wenger, which is why he is going for Nasri and trying to secure Vela (which he has). He is opening up the option of a 4-3-3 with better quality players. Nasri can play behind the striker (instead of Hleb) in some games.
Eto’o dried up??? What??? That’s just pure ignorance. Villa would prefer a move to England as it’s his ambition to play in a foreign league and I think he mentioned Arsenal somewhere in his many quotes about the Premier League. As for Benzema, he never dismissed the idea of playing in England but said he had a preference for La Liga and Serie A. Anyway this is completely hypothetical as we would never sign these players under the clubs current framework.
If you look back, Eduardo was playin on the left in a lot of the games when he was fit, Diaby too. He said before Reyes left that he was hoping he would stay because he opens the possibility of a 4-3-3…I suspect we will start with 4-4-2 as usual but the players he is going for allow for different structures as with the scousers of man u…excellent article as usual JS
IS HIS HAIR WHITE?
Might be an old photo of him…
reyes can it please. The guy has 30 goals this season, equal to torres in the league…He has a better Shoot-to-score record than Cristian Ronaldo, better scoring than Bergkamp in his best season, beter than Overmars in his best season, better than Anleka in his best season. He was named in the team of the year so get a hobby will u
eto hasn’t brought nothing to barca for 2 seasons just like henry he’s lost his hunger and abilty and villa only said about england once when he was asked.IF he came to england what team would you play for and he said he didn’t say he wants to join.Benzema rejected man u saying he wants to play in spain or itlay.
Breaking news just came on setanta sports new that we’ve agreed a season long loan for Mauro Zarate with a view to a permanent move. no lie go look!
I would prefer if he is used more on the Wing than in the attack but even if he plays in the attack he is sure to start ahead of Bendtner…I can wait for the season to start seems we can never have problems with goals next season
jamjam if u dnt have a link dnt bother…
Guys, you can watch Setanta Sports News online, I’d give it a check to see if this news is genuine.
http://www.setanta.com/en/UK/Our-channels/Setanta-Sports-News/
cescational I think it is not fair to compare an average player like Adebayor with Legends like Bergakamp and Overmars, and with talented players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Anelka.
There is no comparison to start with as Adebayor’s age is 24, so to compare him with Anelka 19 in his first season is strange, Bergkamp was a supporting forward that had an incredible number of assists for Henry and his colleague, as for Overmars he scored his fare share of goals in his Arsenal career from the wing, and Cristiano Ronaldo is playing on the wing too and is actually top scorer in the league and overall much higher tally.
Any half decent forward could do what Adebayor did, Wenger mentioned it from maybe 1-2 weeks that Arsenal create a lot of opportunities and Adebayor should improve his finishing.
So it is not something extraordinary that he scored 30 goals in 48 matches with all the service that he is getting.
Be honest who would you prefer in your team Adebayor or Torres?
Who would you bet on to win you matches and be top scorer every season? (and that in a Liverpool team without Faregas, Hleb, Rosicky and others feeding him like mad all the day).
I do recognize your points but you also have to realize that since day one of his arrival he has been improving very rapidly. Wenger also said that Adebayor’s 30 goals was extraordinary, so u cant leave out what u like. Also, remember that Ade has played alone for much of the season, he played carling cup games, F.A. cup games, CL games and nearly all of christmas with no break. Torres was rested for nearly all the start of the season and he cost Liverpool a bucketload of money. Hnery even said that when you play Ade he gives you dimension and diversity. RvP is talented, but tell me, how many games has he played. You missed my point about Overmars, Anelka and Bergkamp. I said shoot-to-score ratio which makes all the difference
Maybe he is not that bad and could be a squad player for us, but rumors are gathering and his agent is starting to do what most agents are doing these days to try to increases his salary and this is a headache that we doesn’t need especially from Adebayor’s camp.
I hope for Arsenal’s sake that they bring one with a much higher caliber like David Villa, we can dream and hope one day such dreams can be possible.
David villa not coming the sooner peeps realise it wont hurt when you see him sign for Barca or Real
About the shoot-to-score ratio I’m not sure of the numbers but I would be amazed if Adebayor with all his missed chances would have a better ratio than Overmars, Anelka and Bergkamp.
I dnt know what the guy has to do to prove himself really, if next season he achieves another 30 that would be 60 in 2 years…villa would cost us 20-30 million and he will score 20-30 goals, we already have a player with that record who loves the club and its manager…he is not meant to get all the goals but with RvP out, Eduardo out, Bendtner inexperienced he was left with all the work…Remember, even when Rosicky got injured and Cesc and Hleb got tired he still gave it his all
Anyone who calls Ade average is a clueless twat. The guys a monster, works his nuts off, is more than a handful for any defense and yep, scored a few goals too didnt he?
Jeeeeeeeeeeeeez
JS, how many games to you rekon Carlos will feature in next season and what sort of role will he play in the team in the next campaign??
Btw just to make it certain, JamJam was misleading us
http://www.setanta.com/en/UK/
I don’t call it lying Sanderson I just call it taking fans for mugs and thats exactly what sites, newspapers and people having been doing and it’s pissed me off to some next levels. It just goes to show anyone can write anything on the internet and no one knows who they are or if its true.
Dangerous aint it mate
nice post btw at least you don’t lie to us like other blogs
Sorry JamJam i have edited my comment. I know exactly what you mean, like the whole Palacio thing last summer, started by some dispicable cunts.
JS.
When will we hear which youth players are being released, and do you have any ideas at the moment?
I remember you saying that Dunne’s off which isn’t a great surprise, personally i see no future for Fonte or Steer, but ive only seen the reserves a few times this year.
Rig, see this previous article
http://youngguns.wordpress.com/2008/04/15/junejuly-decision-due-on-arsenals-kids-podcast/
Why don’t you guys try and think if Bendtner or anyone else is given the same chance for 48 games they could surpass the 30 goals that Adebayor scored, you must have noticed that he doesn’t do a lot of things individually to score by himself when the team needs a little magic form their star supposed forward.
He leave a lot to be desired, bad control ball, a lot of missed chances, the player caught offside most in the league, and most of all that infuriate me is with all his big, strong and tall body he often loses his air duels with smaller and shorter players that I find strange.
Sometimes you can forgive a player if he is short on the technical ability, but when it is something as simple as the will to jump and use his body more and fail to inferior players you cannot say he isn’t to blame.
Please I know what is the difference between a star and an average player, and no need to say (Anyone who calls Ade average is a clueless twat), as you have your opinion and I have mine, which is based on watching all the matches this season.
Oh for fuck sake! Thats a gr8 argument innit? Yeah lets play Bendtner for all the games coz he’s bound to score the same amount?
What kinda juvenile logic is that? Yeah, coz if we kieep playing Eboue on the wing, he’s gonna score 20+ goals like Overmars or Pires innit?
Thanks J.
With Ade i think opinions differ so much because the player differs so much week to week. One moment he’s world class (that purple patch at the turn of the year) and the next he’s frustratingly wasteful (the barren period after that). But in the end all strikers run off confidence and are subject to swings in form, any player who can score goals like he can is worth persisting with, but wengers gotta keep him fresh and put more faith in bentdner when Ade’s not firing. What you gotta remember is that he’s young and improving all the time, the abilities there for all to see (those goals against the scum and newcastle were not accidents).
of course he can improve but he’s been a great servant to the club this year and deserves the credit.
P.S I am so sick of these clubs (R.Madrid, Barcelona, Inter, AC milan etc) airing there transfer targets in the media its despicable. Ancelloti is reported as saying “We will sign one of Drogba, Eto’o, Adebayor or Amauri”, they are all under contract and it should be stopped. I cant tell you how proud i am to support a club where things are done properly. Would Wenger do that? No.
To Lance. Of course I know Villa will sign for either Real or Barca. I know Benzema probably will do the same after another season in France but my point isn’t orientated towards the signing of those players. I’m just pointing out that there are many strikers that are better than Adebayor.
He is in no way average, nowhere near. He is solid [not great] technically and a supreme athlete, which in the premiership compensates for lack of skill. He is privileged to play in a team which places a great emphasis on the attacking aspects of the game and as a consequences it is difficult to allocate an according amount of praise to him.
I personally don’t like him, but that is not down to his overall quality but as a result of his playing style, which revolves around doing all the run-work, jumping and closing down. I believe a striker should be intelligent, intuative, skillful and clinical. Adebayor ticks many of the physical criteria but not enough of the technical requirements. If you don’t know what I mean then watch Zlatan Ibrahimovic play.
Eto’o has been out for almost a year over the past two seasons but has still managed to do well for both club and country. He’s also scored 16 goals in 18 starts this season in La Liga. So please don’t talk about Eto’o as if he’s some has bin and acknowledge him as one of the best African players around.
P.S. If you think he’s going to Newcastle or Tottenham then you I think you’re beyond help.
Did i say he was going newcastle or spurs no i didn’t bt am showing you what has happend to eto from beening linked to man u, arsenal and chelsea to now newcastle and spurs. It shows that his ablity isn’t as good as it was.Plus i know those strikers that you have said are better then him but there’s no point saying buy Villa and etc because they aint going to come.
So you believe a player’s ability is intrinsically linked to the clubs he is linked with?
I’m sorry but that’s just sad…and borderline pathetic. I can tell you he is no better and no worse than two seasons ago. It is purely down to the fact that he has missed large portions of recent seasons and this year Ronaldinho hasn’t shown up, Deco’s been injured [and sometimes left out] and Messi has also been out for a while. This evidently leads to a deficiency in the creativity of the team and thus makes it harder for strikers to get as many goals. But like I said 16 in 18 this season and 14 in 19 last season’s not that bad.
And Lance, don’t worry. I know that as long as I support Arsenal we’ll never buy players like Villa and Eto’o when they’re at their peak. Only winners do that.
just for those that dont know!!!! carlos vela’s hair is not white any more cuz he did had it white but that was last year
so why is villa, benzema and huntaler linked with every big club because yeah they scored loads of goals plus they have the abilty and technical skills to fit in any team.Yeah Deco been injured but he’s never been great.Messi was injured but still showed what he can do.Eto and Deco didn’t.
WHAT!??! Deco and Eto’o are two of the best players in the world. Guess what Lance, Eto’o doesn’t need to be linked to the clubs that Benzema and Villa are linked to…..because he has played for them. Get a grip. Deco is one of the most intelligent players in the modern game and Eto’o has scored more goals than all the strikers mentioned whenever he’s had a full season.
Deco is one of my favourite players alongside Zlatan, Guti and Mutu because they play the game as it should be played. They entertain, enthrall and inspire. I watch La Liga, Serie A, Ligue une and the Premiership and I enjoy watching football. You are entitled to your opinion, but i think your opinions are ill founded and based on nothing more than an outsider looking in, with little sense and intelligence.
Deco has won 2 Champions League titles with two different teams btw.
as you just angelo we have different opinions thats why we love football
wheres nasri
That’s right Lance. Just promise me you’ll keep an eye on those players in the Euros….oh, and Nihat.
Nasri’s with the National team. If we are going to sign him then it’s going to be similar to Rosicky’s signing when he left the national squad’s pre-tournament training camp to wrap everything up and sign personal terms in London.
I would just like to say 8 goals in 37 is not amazing seeing as players like rossi and kanoute who was about 10 goals a season in prem started banging in 20 easy over there same as folan, fair enough he is a winger but the equivelant to ashley youngs record, how do we know hes better than armand traore or kieran gibbs
same wid the new french lad hes been about for 7 days and hes already taking james dunne out the squad whos been there for 3 years and done everything asked of him
Adebayor has 30 goals because of the amount of support he got. Why not check on the amount of times he screwed up in front of goal? Given that amount of chances, any striker would have given us 30 goals. But if you put someone lethal there, he could have converted 45-50 goals??
Don’t be a hypocrite, i know a lot of people who curse when adebayor misses a chance right in front of goal. And simple chances! Then you come out here and say, “he scored 30 goals, world class striker”.
During the Musketeers days, Henry, Bergy, Pires and Ljungberg each did not score that much, but they created chances for each other and they score 2 digit goals for us. May i ask how many of our other players has scored more than 10 goals this season besides Adebayor? If i’m not mistaken, only Fabregas.
Eduardo had 12
And Eduardo only had a very short period of play, plus he started some of those matches as a winger.
Vela died his hair white for the u20 world cup with Mexico last summer. But maybe he could do it again when he meets up with Almunia :O
Apparently we are also talking to Robinho’s agent. It could be just agent talk, but if its true and Samir Nasri’s agent here is trying to fool around, then we could end up signing Robinho instead. Robinho is better established, and Wenger at one point was interested to bring him to Arsenal too.
vela..can’t wait for him to play on the pitch..if he doing well, i believes he’ll be in the starting 11 or a super subs like bojan at barca. it’s good he’s back and the competition to be in the starting 11 would be great. this will pushed bendtner, walcott, rvp to work even harder to gain their place.
I agree that Adebayor is not world class. He did well don’t get me wrong and without the goals he did score we probably would have finished the season with less points. BUT can anyone name a single real world class striker that misses open goals from about six yards out when the ball has been played perfectly to you?? When i saw him do that the only phrase that sprang to mind was ‘My nan could have scored that and she is dead’! point made i think! If he does it for another season BUT scores the open goal ones aswell then that will be a big step towards becoming a world class striker! Now back to the article, i personnally can’t wait to see what Vela can do although we all know that chances will be limited but if he does do alright then there is no reason why next season he won’t be pushing for the first team place. I just love that e now have a lot more depth than before, with these players coming back from loans etc. Also we have Fran Merida back too if i am not mistaken!
BUT can anyone name a single real world class striker that misses open goals from about six yards out when the ball has been played perfectly to you??
—
I’ve seen Tevez do it like 4 times this season!
The difference is: next season Ade won’t have to be our main source of goals. RVP *might* stay fit and EDS *could* return next year, but in reality I am talking about Bendtner and Walcott being better trusted in playing upfront and scoring. We won’t play 4-5-1 anymore, barring anymore horrific injuries. Ade isn’t supposed to be the player working the offside trap for tap-ins but we know that. No, he is the unpredictable man working his arse off behind that guy to confuse and destabilise defences. It’s no coincedence he was playing at his best this season when Eduardo was the man working the line for goals in the box, because Ade was allowed to play his natural role. Although Bendtner doesn’t as much offer this, RVP and Walcott do and would let Ade play how he should. None of our strikers are ‘world class’ but all our young, extremely talented and have yet to really show how they work together with 2 up front all season (and with any wing play!)
Vela will play in the Carling Cup and FA Cup, presumably with Theo or Bendtner next to him up front. However, I expect him to get more Premiership time than Niklas or Theo got this season. If only for the 7 subs (and the fact that Eduardo was the striker on the bench for the first half of the season, where as now we could conceivably have Theo, Niklas and Vela on the bench and have three striking options and two wing options between them). I fully expect him to get 10 goals in all competetions this season. I think Walcott and Bendtner can get 30 between them as well. With Hleb likely to be replaced and a left midfielder likely to actually play at lm (Nasri is the creative midfielder to be bought because *some players don’t play as much as they should i.e. Rosicky, or whatever AW specifically said, right? And not Hleb’s replacement*, I feel we will get a lot more goals. Especially with Diaby looking like Flamini’s replacement, meaning we are a lot more attack minded.
Vela will get chances like Bendtner did last season. And I have enough faith in AW and Arsenal’s scouting that he will do as well.
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/277452401?-11203
Dunno why but i don’t think that has come up as a link but copy an paste it and have a look, explains why Nasri hasn’t signed yet haha!!
clacko, the link doesn’t work, you’ll hv to wait til the site load only copy and paste the address. Thanks :)
was only a joke anyway people, just a link to arsenal.com bout the fact that they are having problems with their phones cos they are upgrading or summit so you can’t get through haha!! Thought that was pretty funny myself!
I can see him play Bendtner out of Arsenal!!
I can see even Barazite playing Bendtner out of Arsenal.
I see that FOURFOURTWO have picked up on the Jack Wilshere Show http://fourfourtwo.com/BestoftheWeb. I really hope this kid gets some first team exposure this season. Looks a right prospect.
(Sorry for going off topic JS! I know that irratates you!)
Let’s put the Adebayor thing to rest.
One good season does not make him world class. Fact!
An average player doesn’t score the volley on the turn goal against spurs. Fact!
Adebayor is a very good, very fast, very strong striker who if he has to more seasons of 20+ league goals can be considered world class.
Its what I like to call ‘Andy Cole’ syndrome.. He’s not world class, not by a long shot, but he can score 20+ goals a season as long as he gets 50+ decent chances.. the lad can jump when he wants to though..
Ade doesn’t play the same as Andy Cole though! Why does everyone forget this? He isn’t supposed to be our main goalscorer just like Bergkamp wasn’t. Ade’s task is to confuse defenders and pull them out of position and to link the midfield with the attack as a target man, to be a threat in the air etc. and not to be a goal hanging Sir Scoresalot. The fact that he was tie the highest scoring attacker shows that he while is still improving and while he was kinda out of position, that he is still a tremendous talent.
I hate this idea that we either have to immediate ‘world class’ players or nothing. We can’t afford to go buy the ‘best’ (and look how well it worked for Chelsea) and have a proven record of taking players like Adebayor, and players from our youth set-up, and turning them into players that win games. It really doesn’t matter whether they are ‘world class’ or not if they beat teams in the fashion we do now does it? It’s the improvements that need to be made so we can try and do it every week that matters, not the difference of how we’d rate a player from ‘good’ to ‘best’.
the boy wil be a success to arsenal.
