Cardiff City have accepted bids from two Premiership clubs for their Welsh International midfielder Aaron Ramsey. One of the clubs have been revealed as Manchester United, however the other two (who are thought to be Arsenal and Liverpool) have decided to remain anonymous.
Last week the Gunners had a bid rejected by Cardiff which was believed to be in the region of £5 million, but these latest reports suggest Ramsey will leave for as little as £4.5 million. City have confirmed they will now give the player time to look over the offers, before making his final decision.
Arsène Wenger has remained a long term admirer of Aaron, who was subject to a reported offer over a year ago. Since then his profile and talents have shone on the big stage, as he played in the F.A Cup final and represented his country as a full International.
Manchester United and Liverpool offers are said to see “Rambo” loaned back to the Championship side for next season. Whilst Arsenal are keen to fast track his development, by letting him fight for a first team place straight away.
Wenger’s record of nurturing young talent into Premier League stars is likely to work in our favour, but the lure of Ramsey’s hero Ryan Giggs will mean the choice of clubs will be a difficult one.
More details to follow.

That’s not quite true.
Cardiff have received 3 bids, but have only accepted 2, hence the statement “Aaron has been given permission to speak to two of these teams” on the official website.
Would love this player to join.
Especially if he is to fight for a first team place straight away, he looks ready and could provide us with that extra bit of depth that we need.
Can’t see him chosing us over Giggs though unfortunately. Especially as Giggs will probably be offered a coach role after he has finished playing and Man u ent exactly a small club are they (even though i wish they were and think that it would be great if they got relegated haha, i have just made my own day by sayin that :-) )
I bet that if he hasn’t sign by tomorrow, people will come here and doubt you and say: You said that Ramsey was gonna sign.
Those are good news I think, now it’s just to pray and hope he makes the right decision. I see no reason why he can’t fight for a place in the team this coming season. He is only a year younger than Walcott and just look at how Walcott did this season. But he is much better off at Arsenal, IMO. Benitez never plays young players, he barely even plays Babel. United have too hard competition but they rotate pretty well. If he doesn’t choose us then I hope he goes to United. It would just be such a shame to see him at Liverpool.
Thank you for clearing that up RIG, Skysports have updated the article since i started writing it.
hahah Clacko, i really feel Arsenal’s offer is more complete than United’s, but lets wait and see.
i think no need to buy another young player…there is alot of gunners english youngster who deserve to fight for 1st team
Come to arsenal Son or go to Man U.Don`t go to Spurs, i hope they get relegated haha. hw did they get Dos Santos?
If we sign him I think we should send him out on loan right away….
I hope he makes the right decision and comes to us as we can offer him more 1st team football in the long term and short term compared to man u.
I cannot see where he would fit in at United, but he can get important games in the Carling Cup & F.A Cup here. Randall & Gibbs have seen how difficult the Championship can be.
Has anyone got any videos of Ramsey as ive never seen him play? Im guessin his gonna be a good player, simply by the teams he has been linked with! BUT is it me or shudn’t wenger be more concerned with buying more established players, has this is clearly what with been lackin the past couple of seasons…..unless of course Ramsey is an exceptional talent!
If we are the other club and he wants to chose his future on where he would be best given his age i think he will choose us because of the way we treat our young players. He may well choose us purely for the first team thing though.
What a decision to have to make at his age though.
But united must have been pretty confident of signing him to have it up on their website.
surely?
We cannot compete with Man United for this transfer.
He will end up there because they are the Champions, have Ryan Giggs and are prepared to loan him back to Cardiff next season.
Not complaining, as I’m glad we are believed to be in there trying to sign him.
Also not overly bothered if we miss out because a 17 year old prospect is not really what we require at this juncture.
As this blog shows, we have an abundance of talent in our youth ranks already.
Man U have just signed Aaron Ramsey.
Jim – United even put up press speculation on their website, as they do a review from the newspapers.
Not sure of any videos, but from what i know he can play anywhere in midfield, or as a support striker.
Give it a week and it will prob be on arsenal.com haha!
By the way great website J!!!!
as mentioned above Cardiff City have released a statement, it seems the second club, does not want to be named which is common with Arsenal transfers.

Cardiff say no deal is done with any club yet
Watching the FA Cup final was the 1st time i saw him play, there were 2 things i was looking for from his basic skills, movement off the ball & 1st touch.
Sadly both were missing so i dont think he deserves to be called wonderkid but as Theo has shown [having a Astro turf installed in his back garden for practice], if you are prepared to work extremely hard @ your game, I am sure i can become useful part of the team.
I am sure that if his decision is purely down to footballing reasons and not sentiment, he will pick arsenal. Having said that what is Man Utd putting it on their website when he could potentially turn them down.
I see your point J!
Do we know why the deal fell through last year, was it the player or the club who didn’t want the move??
Because this time last year surely he would have been available pre-contract, and the compensation would have been a hell of a lot less than 5 million.
Last year he played against us in the Youth Cup against Cardiff, the game Jay Simpson scored a hat-trick in.
We reported to have offered £1 million, which was rejected. Seems that they wanted more than that for him, which is fair enough.
His wage demands were the stumbling block, he wanted £12 a week but unfortunately we would only offer him a maximum of £10, greedy footballers haha!!
I think he will join man utd, but he will probably never play for them and end up at blackburn in 2 years time.
Honestly how many Kids has ferguson brought through in the past 4-5 years!!!, If his claim to fame is playing Nani and Anderson, just look at their price tag and what they were doing at their clubs before. Each time Ferguson has tried to play his ‘kids’ in the Carling cup they have been embarassed. Gerard Pique could be the only player that is considered developed by their youth system, evne though he probablyt learnt everything at Barca, and now when he started to break into the side this season..he gets sold! Dont be an idiot Ramsey come to Arsenal
haha Clacko, the resident joker ;)
If it was somebody like David Bentley, i would also expect him to go United, but he is a smart boy. He is not cocky, or above himself or anything like that.
Same with Theo Walcott, and he choose us.
we wanted to pey him min..wage
spot on Frichie
You always get one lol!
Assgunnre i was joking, if i am honest i didn’t even have a clue that we went for him at all last season. Spent my summer with my head buried in the sand. Either that or it was one fuked up dream ;-)

I went to that match, the only person that stood out for Cardiff was playing on the left mid that day [dont know his name]. If anything, after Cardiff scored, they alot of long balls so i am not that the game which basis for buying are being made.
why don’t we just sign nasri, yaya toure and fook it stick a big bid in for richards!!!! For me they wud be the perfect three signings this summer….possibly another midfielder if/when we lose hleb! I know Richards is in the 20 mil bracket….but it will be worth it in the long run!!!!!
Supergunner07… ummmm what?????
But it is necessary to verify the facts. The other club could be Liverpool FC. It is unlikely M Wenger buys a player when other great clubs are interested. Pray caution
The way I would start the season
____________almunia
Sagna___Kolo___New CB/Gallas___Clichy
_______________Diaby
Rosicky/Nasri________Cesc
_____________________________RVP
____________Nic/Theo
______________Ade
Interchanging front trio, one of them minds the left wing whilst the other plays in the hole and Ade stays in the box.
Simular to the trio of
_______________________Overmars
______________Bergkamp
_______________Anelka
Or another addition I would like to see would be Thuram(experience and cover),Albiol/Richards,De la Red/Cana/Yaya
I you think Diaby shown the right skills facetts to play in & be arsenal’s 1st choice defensive Mid then you are pretty clueless.
Supergun is correct. Diaby is a lazy and dozy player. He does not possess the necessary stamina and desire like Flamini. He still looks like a boy who does not want responsibility.
i dont think we need De la red i saw him play many times this season and i dont think he is a EPL material he’s not strong enogh
I you think Diaby shown the right skills facetts to play in & be arsenal’s 1st choice defensive Mid then you are pretty clueless.
——————————————————————–
Why? He can tackle, hes big and strong, hes skillful and he can score. Yea he needs work on his concerntration and tactical play, but he’ll be getting that at Arsenal and improving and the only thing he needs other than that is games.
Ramsey is talented but i think Utd will win this one. They’ll just keep outbidding us in terms of wages and the transfer fee. Obviously if we’re the other club then we’ve had a big accepted but there still is the problem of wages.
I hope Diaby gets a chance this season, i think he was one of our most improved players last season and he really showed that he has the hunger to succeed here.
whats up with wages thing that it have been made public that we dont pay properly i dont think thats a good sing for club like ARSENAL wich one of the richest club in the world
This boy is a good player and I feel he would be a good addition to our squad however chance’s are that he will most likely end up @ Man ure
state yes/no to following skill facet which Diaby has.
Range of passing [short or long]:
Effective Dribbling:
Movement:
First Touch:
Vision:
Improvisation:
Imagination:
Skills:
Defensive positioning awareness:
Tackling:
Power [Assertion of it]:
I sorry but i disagree with statement like he is ready, his game still requires alot work on the training ground. The Tottenham game really exposed his lack of tactical nous when he kept bring Chmbonda into already congested midfield instead of doing the opposite.
Wenger tips Nasri success
Arsene Wenger believes Samir Nasri can make an impact “at the highest level”, but looks set to have to wait a little longer before capturing the playmaker.
The Marseille player, who turns 21 later this month, is preparing for Euro 2008 with France and is expected to sign for Arsenal after the competition.
Wenger told La Provence: “At 21 his whole future is ahead of him and he has a margin for progressing further.”
Remember hes the player whos been in the press this season, and Utd like to go for the high profile youngsters where as we sign players like Freeman, Traore, Fabregas etc… Largly un-noticed. I think Wenger may shy away from signing Ramsey just cuz there will be so much public interest in his future now and therefore pressure to play him (even if hes not ready/there are players more ready than him). Bit like when we got attacked from all angles for signing Walcott and then not playing him until the start of the new season.
Range of passing [short or long]: Not yet
Effective Dribbling: Yes
Movement: Yes
First Touch: Yes
Vision: No
Improvisation: Yes
Imagination: Yes
Skills: Yes
Defensive positioning awareness: Not as much as he would maybe need (YET)
Tackling: Yes
Power [Assertion of it]: Yes

I ent gonna copy the whole damn thing haha!!
passing YES, Dribbling YES, Vision YES, Improvisation YES, Skills YEs (or why the hell would we have him at all). Tackling YES. Power YES.
As you can see from that list there are only a few things that i feel he doew not yet have like his first touch, but the only way he will learn that is by playing in the first team!!!
How can you say he doesn’t have power, i saw him a number of times last season use his strength to go past experienced players like they were hardly there, which leads me to the point of dribbling, may not be his best point but he certainly can do it! And his shots, i can’t remember the game but i do remember him scoring a wonderful goal last season. Remember aswell, i think all this of him and he is still young, one season in the first team and i think he will come on leaps and bounds like Clichy!!
wish i had copied it now, Johnny’s looks way better than mine haha!
Diaby is not the finished article but he had superb performances against Milan and L’pool.
He needs coaching but if anyone can do it then AW can.
Personally I think hes grooming Alex Song for DM , as by playing him CB he made Song more aware of his duties in protecting the back four.
I can confim that he has been contacted by Arsenal FC, J. I was given the news by a family member who is best mates with Aaron’s dad here in Cardiff.
Supergunner07 i am not having a dig so don’t have a rant at me back cos this is only a question. From your grammar i would say that you are not english, do you live in England? If not how many games did you get to see last year?
Now i only ask because i feel that they way you are analysing Diaby doesn’t fill me with confidence that you saw him very much last season. You say he doesn’t have some qualities and would like to see another player brought in, when he has proved to everyone that the season before last he was ok but last season the way he came into the team and fitted in straight away and don’t forget he is now used to the Prem. Anyone we bring in has the potential to be great but also the potential to be shocking because of not being used to the prem, that is a big thing to take into consideration!
Agreed Clocko, I think Diaby is simular to Clichy post Cole departure, niggly injuries, shown quality in bits of games, I think he is waiting to burst onto the scene. He got talent in abundance but just needs a few pointers and who better than AW. Thank GOd he didnt go to the Euros, it will give AW extra time to polish off this rough diamond.
Do you watch Arsenal matches closely Johnny Maverik, you replied YES to Improvisation & Imagination for Diaby. You must be blind, like i said before go and watch the 2 leg match with Spuds AGAIN & then answer my questtions properly.
Oh ya clocko, the goal was against Derby

Great, you can only pull out 2 matches & he wasnt even consistent in those matches.
legend, that the one, and i think if you watch that goal he is involved in most of that play! Fair enough cos i know what your gonna say it was Championship opposition but he still needed to be there.
Did I specify Long Range Shot in the skills Facets listed previously “No” and also a quality player must be able to work himself into quality positions in order to use long range shots [remember the difference between Lampard for Chelsea and England – Zero playmaking skills]
I’ve got to say Diaby is one of the most frustrating players to watch, he has all the ability but mental seems lazy, loses possession too easily and goes missing in games. I know he has time to improve, and hope he does, he just needs to learn to keep it simple sometimes.
Anyway thats my last post cos i don’t have internet at home so i rob it when i am at work :-)
My parting comment is that no matter what arguments we have, we are all Gooners + fantastic site J, catch ya all tomorro when it is confirmed that Ramsey has signed.
that said tounge in cheek!!
Thank you for that mate, it seems Wenger is really keen on Ramsey, and it has been noted in the past for example Sagna, who said the fact the manager wanted them swung the balance between the clubs.
Lets hope it has the same effect!
Were there any bigger games this seaon Supergunner than L’pool and Milan away??
Take care Clacko mate!

Ya well, he made the most of his chances so sorry Super, but once he has finally recovered from that injury, got preseason under his belt and listens to AW and become aware of where he has to work upon, then I see no reason why he cant play central midfield. I dont think we require a Makaelle type holding CM as this encourages oppostion to counterattack, instead we need a nice pairing of cMs, with one (cesc) being slightly more attacking. Simular to Vieira/EDU
Diaby’s improvisation is ok, his imagination is not but he can dribble past players although he needs to improve on the end product of the dribbling.
I am not saying in cannot play in CENTRAL MID, what i am saying is that needs to work extremely hard @ his game to dispose like of Denilson by improving particular his Range of passing, quicker decision making[takes to long on the ball], movement and 1st touch then i would not have a problem with him playing.
I am hoping we get him , though I have not seen him play but the fact that Manchester United , Liverpool ,Tottenham are all said to be involved points to the fact that he could be very good

I believe the 2 clubs still in the Hunt for ramsey are liverpool and Utd we are now out of the chase.
The reason was more that cardiff are refusing to sell unless they can loan him back for one more season where as we would like to keep him.

Actually guys, if you look at that link and see the users other videos, 3 of his top ten goals of the season have involved diaby in the final third, two involving very skilled dribbling and releasing the ball at the right time (dribble & cross for denilson vs newcastle, and dribble for own goal) and the other involving him in good build up play (flamini vs newcastle)
I personally dont think we need Aaron Ramsay at Arsenal because we already have Jack Wilshere
new video jack wilshere on youtube btw
^^ top 10 ARSENAL goals of the season i mean.
I think that goes to show his passing and dribbling aren’t as bad as its made out, its just he dribbles way too often and he normally gets criticised for dribbling in tough uneneccessary places. That aspect should improve through experience anyway.
But even though you think he isn’t great defensively the vids show hid]m being strong when dribblin and striking so couldnt he put that into tackling aswell?
I just watched the new Jack Wilshere video on Youtube and the kid looks to have one hell of a sweet left foot on him IMO
Pingback: Villa’s Price Tag Takes A Massive Drop « Gooner Talk
I’m with kent paul on this one. From what I’ve seen, Ramsey looks very similar to Wilshere. Both left footed, attacking midfielders/second strikers/side midfielders. Wilshere is younger than Ramsey, I think it would be pretty damn hard for him to get into the Arsenal team any time in the near future, with Ramsey ahead of him, and to add to that Nasri, Rosicky, Walcott, he’d struggle to get a chance, which for me would be a great shame. What do you think J Sanderson?
When you watch Wilshere dribble, he looks exactly like Hleb. The only difference is that Jack dribbles to the penalty area but not the corner flag. I think he will be an important player for us in the 09/10 season. He will not play much this season but the next one, I’m telling you, he will be good. It would be an absolute dream to have him, Cesc, Vela, Walcott and Nick all together in our attack.
All I know is that the future of Arsenal is bright and that will not chance wether we get Nasri or Ramsey or none at all. This club is bigger than so that it depends on any one player, left alone players that haven’t even played for us.
But my opinion is that United are leading the race but he will never go to Liverpool. United first, Arsenal second and Liverpool almost no chance. If I were to choose it would be easy, but we have to respect what ever this kid wants to do.
“Do you watch Arsenal matches closely Johnny Maverik, you replied YES to Improvisation & Imagination for Diaby. You must be blind, like i said before go and watch the 2 leg match with Spuds AGAIN & then answer my questtions properly.”
I can remember him taking on players, slipping the ball into great positions that may have been unobvious to other players. That spuds game was a one off, you cant hold that against any of them.
Oh and im in London btw :D
…Clapton though…Tottenham terretory :(
