Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has confirmed Samir Nasri is in London having a medical with Arsenal, but did not set a deadline on the completion of the transfer.
Diouf was invited on the 100% Football show on M6, and was put through an intensive grilling by the shows presenter Estelle Denis, who is the current girlfriend of French manager Raymond Domenech. Whilst he refused to admit the deal is official, Diouf was pressed into saying an agreement had been reached between Arsenal and Marseille, with Samir set to sign following his medical.
He was also asked about the future players of the French national team, and included Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri as important members of the squad, also saying they will all come from Arsenal. The subject quickly turned to the 20 year old midfielder, but Diouf wanted to remain coy on the subject.
“There is an agreement [between Arsenal and Marseille], but Nasri is not officially an Arsenal player. He must first complete the medical”
Estelle Denis then put it to Diouf that the media expect the transfer to be completed tomorrow, but he stuck to his guns, and refused to speak about the deal. Instead he hesitated, before looking away and waiting for the next question. It was almost like he wanted to confess the deal, but had been advised not to release any details.
Young Guns previously announced the news Samir was in London for a medical, but with the only source the French newspaper La Provence, some people questioned the story. However with official confirmation from Marseille, it seems the original news was legitimate.
A huge thank you to Georges, as well as Thomas from ArsenalLover for these translations.

Tantalisingly close now.
Nice work JS. 1st?
It keeps getting closer!!
Thanks a lot J for the updates!
Yes we are first with this news, the show has only just gone off air.
You are definately ‘on the ball’ JS, well done mate.
Cheers guys, like sam said.. ever so close now to being all sorted
ALELUJA
How is it exclusive if you got the news from elsewhere, i.e the radio?
LOL, here come the haters :)
How come your so quick with your news mate? You must constantly be searching the internet?
I’ll be glad when this is all sorted.
Then we’ll all move onto the next player Saga that will last 2 months. It’s stressful to be a Gooner.
J.S…Good update….This is one blog I really do take very seriously…keep up the good work mate
I believe that Arsenal are just about the only club on the planet who put a “if you talk about it the deal’s off” clause into all negotiations. Hence the endless “undisclosed” fees, and the fact that we never, ever get into bidding wars. Clever man that Arsene Wenger….
Would be lovely to bag him as the first mayjor signing this season. I guess they either make it official today or monday then? Arsenal.com dont do these things in the weekend?
Cheers Jamie and the other guys for this info.
RVP, i go about my daily life like you, i just going to bed when i was informed of this news, and felt my fellow Gooners would like to hear it.
Hence the article.
Glad you enjoy it
RVP jeez just appraciete the great work Jamie does.
It’s like the best arsenal blog around
Its exclusive to English fans, nobody else has this news, even the French papers dont have it yet
I honestly cant wait for him 2 put pen to paper….its been such a long time coming….i know we will all be on newsnow all day 2morrow…lol…good night fellow Gooners
I have it bacause i told u the news. I am the guy who watch the show for u jamie. And, it’s gonna be on my blog soon. Lol, im also the guy that told u for Tatiana Golovin. LOL
My blog is in french, so if some of u guys speaks french, come on it :) http://www.arsenallover.skyblog.com
My blog is also on arsenal’s youth, but better than Jamie’s one :)
hahaha, thanks again Thomas :D
Hahahaha too bad it’s in french
the quotes confirm the deal has been struck but not the fact that a medical has taken place. just that it is imminent. while i believe you and hope he has already had his medical i just dont see this info from the quotes.
but i must say.. great work! keep it up :)
Let’s hope it’s sorted tomorrow so I can stop looking at every Arsenal site goin for news!!
Diouf says the medical must be complete before he signs, meaning the medical is imminent.
JS you said, “meaning the medical is imminent”
exactly what i said,” the quotes confirm the deal has been struck but not the fact that a medical has taken place. just that it is imminent”
A medical is imminent isn’t the same as he is having his medical today is it?
thats how i thought of it at first. But he was asked has he signed.. and then a medical must take place first. He did not say it has taken place, but he didnt say it hadnt either.
It could have already be happened, or could be partly done, as medicals can stretch to over two days. Diouf did not want to reveal any details, he is a very difficult person to get info out of
J, amidst the blizzard of b.s. that is the transfer season, it is so refreshing to have you as a source of reliable, constant, and NEW news. Cheers!
Also, how do you figure Nasri will fit in next season? Do you believe Wenger is waiting until the sale of Hleb is complete, so he can buy Nasri as a direct replacement, or do you think he wants Nasri regardless of the Hleb situation? Thanks again mate.
Thanks for all the great research. Always anxious to hear about new signings, so much thrash floating on the web its ridiculous.
Great job!
J.Sanderson. got a few questions 4 u n every1.
1. do you believe Adebayor would be leaving this summer. seems like Wenger is looking to cash in on him.
2. is Wenger really thinks of not buying another defender? our defence is what cost us the season last term.
i went to the Arsenal legends tour on tuesday and had a gd long chat with Charlie George n he said that we shouldnt belive the hype of the media and told me at the club, they Call Mr Wenger ‘The Accountant’, because he has about £50m-£70m to spend on transfers, but he’s rather save the money and rely on the youth coming thru
Mike, I know I’m not J.Sanderson, but I firmly believe that Wenger has no intention of selling Adebayor. It’s true that Milan openly want him, but Wenger is a stubborn man, and believes strongly in keeping the team together as a unit. Plus, Adebayor is completely irreplaceable. Sure, we could afford Villa or Eto’o with the £32m or whatever the papers are saying, but they would take a season to adapt, and neither of them could play with this squad the way that Ade does. Although he’s frustrating at times, he is quality, and he’s integral to our team. Furthermore, no other striker in the world, bar maybe Drogba, offers what Ade can – pace, power, height and quick feet. For these reasons, I believe that Adebayor is crucial to our side, and I think that Wenger thinks the same. So, unless we get an offer we can’t refuse, I don’t think Ade is going anywhere!
Trevor i feel that Adebayor will stay, but is just using his agent to get better terms on a new deal.
I heared today a source in Barcelona claimed they were willing to offer 10 million euros and Eto’o for Adebayor, but Wenger would still reject it.
I told some of the readers around 2 months ago Hleb was going to Barcelona, and now its becoming more certain he is, i can see Nasri filling in his role, or possibly on the left with Walcott on the right.
So finally… Adebayor to stay.. and Hleb to go.
thanx Trevor n J. well the feedback in which Charlie George gave me. it seems we dnt need money, so if thats, true, then we dnt need to sell Ade. what about a defender? i personally believe Senderous, Djourou n Eboue need to go!!
Sound like a thorough arsenal deal.Wenger likes all parties involved to be as silent about a transfer as possible until it is finalized and official.Sounds like Nasri is a gooner now.Great updates JS.all the sportsnews channels will be quoting you as main reference source soon.
Thanks J. Do you think Wenger is waiting for the Hleb transfer to be resolved before he finalizes the Nasri deal? In other words, is Nasri coming contingent upon Hleb leaving?
Do you think Wenger will sign a DM or a CB? That’s what I’m most curious about. I think he’ll sign one or the other, but not both. Personally, I’d kind of love to see Kolo play a DM role, which I believe he can with aplomb, and we’d sign a commanding CB. What do you think?
Mike, I’ve actually been watching all the highlights of our season from ATVO, and during the ACN, Senderos was looking fantastic alongside Gallas. During a few European games as well, that boy proved that he can defend against the best of them. If he gets his head straight, I really believe that he could step up and be the classic CB we’ve been crying out for, provided we don’t sell him or sign someone else.
Not at all, Nasri should be announced tomorrow, whereas Barca are just in talks, they are seperate deals.
We could end up with both, but its doubtful. From what i understand, we wont be buying a new centre back or defenseive midfielder, Gilberto will continue alongside Cesc, and Ramsey will be devloped into a long term Flamini replacement.
this will all become clearer in my article tomorrow.
i understand you Trevor, and i agree that we couldnt fault him when he covered for Toure, but the boy is still to slow for the prem league. he suits the Italian league, where the games aint to fast n they rely on strengh. Wif we look back to the defenders Wenger has signed since been at the club. Toure, Clichy and Sagna are the only gr8 signings. we now need some1 who can fill in that last slot n pls dnt say Gallas
I have so many questions for you! :) Thanks again for your work, mate. Quality stuff.
Trevor if you have any other questions, drop me an e-mail or add my MSN, and i will be happy to help.
Check the contact section for details :)

Looking fwd to the Nasri news tomorrow :)
JS, I think Gilberto alongside Cesc is a step back, unless Bert can recover his “invincible” form (which I think is unlikely… I hate to say it because he’s my fav player). Toure or Djourju maybe the short-term step-ins, but Cesc need a stable partner for us to challenge.

You welcome mate^^ just to add fuel to ades rumors on rmc the french radio theres a show called after(the matches) and they talked about transfers and jean michel larqué who comments matches with arsene and knows him well said that aw wasnt angry with ade rumors but furious it shows how ades important for arsenal and aw wont let ade go
I have scoured the net over the years…looking for accurate Arsenal news, no boasting no bluff. this is it, I have to say.
I have quietly been reading Young Guns for several months now, waiting to see if this is just ‘another one of those’ sites…am impressed.
I’m very far…so accurate info is important.
You have a great future as a top sports journalist!
Harrison – Nairobi, Kenya.
Great site man! :) Most blogs do 1 article per day, but you do like 2 or 3 a day and keep us updated, thats why I love this site! Keep up the good work. Gd news about Nasri.
Btw, did you know that Raymond Domenech proposed to Estelle right after France lost to Italy :D
That guy is mad :)
I wasn’t knocking J’s work mate, I was praising it as he always has it so quickly
Well done on the updates JS. But I have to say that this is the most tedius and boring transfer saga ever. All this for untried 20 year old kid. FFS theres no guarantee that this light weight kid will adapt to the PL let alone have any sort of impact on the 1st team. If he signs all be it I hope it works out but if he doesn’t this Gooner couldn’t give a flying ****.
good player 4 arsenal
hlep plz stay>>>>>>>>>>>
Well done for the update Jamie, hope it turns out well for him and Arsenal……he needs to get rid of his agent though! Very dodgy (most of them are dodgy anyway).
Nice story J. Well done on your blog. You do a great job here. Keep it up.
Still waiting on the Arsenal page…
The papers are sooooo annoying there now linking Clichy with a move to Juve or Roma it really pisses me off because they make up all these stories about Ade, Clichy, RVP and Cesc wanting to leave and then when they dont they act as if they never said they would. Nice story btw JS at least u dont make up a load of rubbish just to get hits.
Sanderson, a fantastic website here and grateful for the hard work you put into the site for us fellow gooners. I for one am really looking forward to the Carling Cup this year especially with our youth team talent.
I suspect that Wenger will buy one more player after Nasri with that player being a more defensive minded player in the elk of a Gilberto who can play defence or midfield. What happened to Chantomne coming in from PSG? Also is the Yaya/Hleb swap on?
Hello J,
I’ve been keeping a close eye on this site and I must congratulate you. Well done. I have a few questions for you:
1 This morning, information taken in good faith went around about Samuel Eto’o seen around the old stadium (Highbury) with Gary Lewin. “Arseblogger” believes it was a “good faith information” and not a wind-up. Do you think Eto’o could be fancying a move to Arsenal? Could it possibly be part of the Hleb deal?
Eto’o wants to leave the Nou Camp and they also want him to go. Remember Spurs tried to get him but he snubbed them. What do you have to say about this?
2. What are the chances of bolstering our defence?
I know you’ve answered this before, but don’t you think Wenger might be denying wanting to buy a CB or a DM because of how the Euros would inflate the transfer market?
good news.. looks like friday will become our transfer day. JS why don’t you create a blog which encompasses all arsenal news? definately consider your sight the best read. wish the press would leave our players alone. Clichy wouldnt go anywhere- he will be at arsenal his entire career i’m sure of it. JS what would you think of a cheaky bid for Alonso? I think him and Cesc together would be amazing and at 12m is a bit of a bargain. im sure the transfer would be too complicated with the kop but would be awesome.
Keep up the good work
Reports now coming in on problems with his final contract details. He’s now flown off this morning for his holidays without signing so fuck knows whats going on. can you look into this please JS.
where’d you hear that? source?
If theres problems with the contract then the deal wont happen now as thats the 2nd time there will have been a problem but are you sure this is a reliable source?
PLease GOD, do not let Gilberto near the first team again , unless he really gets his act together.. Senderos makes me nervous at times I couldn’t watch Gil give the ball away and play hospital pass after hospital pass for another season..
And Nasri better be THE SH*T for that money, I’d rather Podolski sign, even if it cost an extra 3Mill.
Well I’ve seen nothing about any contract problems whatsoever, so until I do I’m assuming it is rubbish. Also JohnV we don’t know it was anything contract related that stalled the deal the first time either mate, so saying this would be the 2nd time a problem has occurred with the contract is wide of the mark. Like I said though I suspect Dave is either scaremongering himself or he has been sucked in by someone else scaremongering. Probably the later as Dave has seemed ok from previous posts. He didn’t provide a source and I highly doubt there is one, at least one with any validity. Unfortunately there are plenty of idiots around who have nothing better to do than mess with people over the internet, sad really.
Is any one else getting bored with this saga! I hope it is concluded today. Sometimes i feel like the directors couldnt close a door let alone a deal. Seems we can only sign young player who are not looking for large wages. I hope i will be eating my words later today!
Only a rumour from a mate at work. Probably rubbish but until I see confirmation of his signing then I wouldn’t be suprised.
I wouldnt listen to work rumours mate, i have had the whole building tell me today that adebayor & Clichy are leaving. Which i think is nonsense.
Am tired of Nasri talk now!! I think the important thing is to wait for an offical confirmation Arsenal.com. These speculations from dave are geting us nowhere. Dave that is rubbish, they are just playing with your mind.
But when will annonuce the Arsenal?
“A rumour from a mate at work…”
I’d sooner trust a spuds fan with my wallet.
We have agreed a deal with Marseille, and all that needs to be done is for him to pass his medical, which will be a formaility, before confirming the deal.
and still this over blown bollox of a transfer drags on. Getting to the stage where I wish the over rated twat would fuck off and stay in France.
I’ve got to the stage where I hope he doesn’t join to be honest. All this “only a medical before he signs” rubbish. The kid obviously is not too keen to come here otherwise he would have signed by now. Bin the deal there’s better players than Nasri out there and ones who would jump at the chance to join the Arsenal. For me its now a “Fuck off Nasri”.
Calm down people!
is toure playing in cm nxt season coz i reckon he would be good there but bring in another cb coz sendoros is sh*t

Be relax! :-) Nasri is not a stupid child. :-) And what is it if Nasri has already signed the agreement, but the Arsenal doesn’t announce this before the EB. The agreement is ok between the OM and the Arsenal, it depends on Nasri and the Arsenal. So I say, be relax.
Really: did you hear about the Adebayor-Barcelona talks? I know so that the Arsenal accepted the offer from the Barcelona. (The Barca paid 22,5 million Ł for Ade.)
I think Martins and Arshavin will be the best replacemnet.
