Jibril Cancels Arsenal Trial + Ramsey News Update

As reported last month Arsenal had invited Ghanaian midfielder Torrick Jibril to come to London in the coming weeks for a 14 day trial period. The youngster was spotted by chief scout Steve Rowley, whilst the 16 year old was in action for prestigious Ghanaian club Accra Hearts of Oak.

He accepted the offer, and was due at Arsenal’s training centre next month. However then reports emerged that Spanish outfit Atlético Madrid had sent a representative in the form of scouting director Rafa Juanes, to snatch Jibril away from the Gunners grasp.

This mission has been successful as the player and his agent, the delightfully named Prince Umar flew out to Madrid this afternoon to agree personal terms and undergo a medical examination. Should everything go according to plan, he will sign for the club tomorrow morning and will play for their C team.

Umar informed Arsenal of Atlético’s bid, but Liam Brady stood his ground and told them he would not be making an offer until the trial had been completed. Hearts of Oak it seemed had preferred him to go to North London, but with no cash offer duly accepted Madrid’s €1 million offer.

Overall i feel it is not a big loss for the club, as he would have struggled to gain a work permit. Secondly he is almost identical to Jack Wilshere, in terms of stature, position and such.

BBC Sport has confirmed Arsenal as the second team which had a bid accepted by Cardiff City for winger Aaron Ramsey. Despite Manchester United writing an article about the transfer on their official website, the Welsh side have rebuffed claims a deal is done with Alex Ferguson’s side.

So now the Gunners will do battle with the Premiership Champions for his services, and will hold talks with the player himself during the next week. Ramsey must now decide where his future lies, a massive decision for a 17 year old who still lives with his parents.

in your opinion do you think we will get Nasri ? I still believe most of the deal has been done, also what are our chances with Ramsey?, you know he probably idolises Giggsy, our one draw for him is that we won’t loan him back and he joins our 1st team squad.

good article mate, fingers crossed he chooses us although I guess man u would still be favourites, what kind of player is he? Aside from the cup final I havent see much of him, but given the strength of the interested club’s respective midfields you would imagine he’s something special…great site mate as always, good stuff :-)

RVP – Yes he is very highly rated, and i think for £5 million would be a superb prospect.

BBC Sport is an exceptional news source, they have contacts with the clubs and have no doubt make contact with the club to confirm the news.

    Thank you RVP

David, it was your first comment, so it must be approved before i can see it. So i saw RVP’s comment before yours.

Firstly, i think yes we will get Nasri, but just not yet. I rate Ramsey highly, and i think he can be a real prospect. The other stuff you said was mentioned in my previous article.

biscuit.. for more on the offers see the previous article.

therevsi something verry worng at Arsenal at the momment. the way things are left to drift like flamini and other players contracts.
i feel that ushmanov will soon be making a move for Arsenal fc as dien recently said that he favoured the current club policy of developing through the academy.

things should change rapidly if ushmanov took over there could be him cancelling our debt and now he has a cash cow and the money to compete with abramovich. if Wenger decided to play fantasy football then ushmanov has a cheque book that can accomodate 200 or 300 million in transfer funds.

thanks for the reply I was only joking anyway.. :-) this is actually one of my fave articles to read usually as it don’t have half the bollox of others or re-hashed stuff, plus I like learning about the youth team players..do you think Wengers comment about wages for Nasri are true ? I actually think the whole deal may be done but he just can’t get away from the training camp, what do you think is the hold up ? also do you think we could get Yaya in the Hleb Barca deal ?

I’d rather let Hitler take over than Usmanov, actually I would’nt as Fabianski would leave.. but my point is that we don’t need taking over especially some corrupt Jabba The Hut lookalike with no love for the club

David, Arsene didn’t say anything about Nasri’s wages mate, the quotes were answers from two questions put together.

    Thank you David :D

From what i understood his comments about money were in general, not directed at Nasri, but the media put 2+2 together.

I said about a month that Hleb was going to Barcelona, and i feel that Nasri would be his replacement on the right, rather than the left. Because Rosicky had an operation to finally source his injury problems and sort them out.

I doubt Barcelona would part with Yaya, as despite the fact they signed Kieta, he will play on the left side of midfield in the 4-3-3.

Maybe an experienced guy like Marquez could be included.

what do you think is the hold up on Nasri then ?
I hope anyone plays on the right other than Eboue..what do you see happening with Eboue anyway next year as wide we have a fit Rosicky,Nasri, Walcott, even Vela can play there, I think Yaya may not be on Guardiola’s list to keep as he does’nt believe he is mobile enough, they bought Keita as they think he can do Yaya’s job and is more mobile, also Barca wanted to do a lot of swap deals this year as they are not cash rich..this info is from Guilleme who I email now and then and also sky sports Revista..Marquez is a good dhout for CB or DMC..he’s dirty too and we need someone like that sometimes..

I think the Nasri deal is difficult, because he has been away with France, they dont really want to release them, as Domenech is approaching a huge tournament, which a poor result for France could see him sacked.

So he wants to keep everybody together, Arsenal asked for Sagna to be released to tie up a deal, but a club cannot demand he is released so its tricky.

As for Guilleme many people dont believe or trust him, and whilst i cannot judge accuratly what he is about i would have reservations on his “sources”

I really don’t see why Barca want Hleb to be honest, they will play a strict 4-3-3 as Guardiola is an advocate of Cruyff and that system. midfield 3 should be Xavi Keita Iniesta, what do you mean release Sagna? do you mean last year ? he’s not with them this year?..I am happy with swapping Nasri for Hleb I think its a great deal all round..

Never seen Ramsey play, didn’t get to watch the FA Cup Finals since I was away on holiday so I can’t comment if we should get him or not, seems like he’s a really good prospect though. Think that United will sign him to be honest. Well now people know why Wenger likes to do his dealings quietly so people don’t get stressed like with the Nasri situation lol. Like JS stated it’s a difficult time to bring him over to London now with Euros this weekend,I wouldn’t let him go either if I was France manager lol…but according to Le Provence,we basically have him secured but they want him to stay with France before he does his medical.

Isn’t English and British (plus Irish) kind of the same thing for many British people. As I understand the anti-foreigner talk: People don’t like the foreigners but don’t look at Welsh or Scottish players as foreigners.

Stone, I think people’s main issue with Arsenal’s foreign legions is that we are seen to not be contributing to the English national team. As Welsh and Scottish players (probably) won’t play for England either, they will still have the same complaints. I have to say my main issue with people accusing Arsenal of damaginf the national team is that clubs like Fulham and Sunderland etc. may well have some English players, but when was the last time they were called into the England squad.

I really cant see Wenger spending anything much on a center back,i think he is going to use Song,he stated in an interview that he fully intends to us him as such, and that he has complete faith in his abilities in that role.the same goes for Ramsey,we have a lot of up and coming youngsters,Jack Wilshire,Nacer Barazite,Henri Lansbury and not to forget Fran Merida who was compared to being as good as Cesc when we first got him.Remember we only lost the league by four points and a lot of bad luck with injurys,so not a lot of changes need to be made,we all know Wenger is good but he aìnt a fucking prophet. He could not have forseen,or made plans at the start of last season for that amount of injurys, you can`t have a squad of 18 guaranteed first team players, finacally difficult with the building for the future plans, and already now your seeing players who think they have a devine right to play or insist on leaving. At the end of the day it`s all about balance, not media thirst for headlines, were doomed if we dont sign star players.Final thought do you think barcalona would really sell Dos Santos for that cheep if he was any good?i admit he has a name that would look on the back of a shirt, but we got Vela;).last year we,and the scum down the road each brought a player from Auxarre,we brought a Bacary Sagna….i need not say more.they brought a Younis kaimaloadofbollockstobesold waste of space.you see what im getting at.

Eh…Ramsey is good, NOT incredible for his age. Yes he’d be a good player for us and possibly a great one in the future but Utd will win this one. They’ll keep outbidding everyone in terms of fee, wages and player bonuses.

As for Jibril…neva sceen in play, if hes like Wilshire we probably lost out on a good player there, but there again, we have Wilshire.

my point is….we don’t need to keep on buying good young players……coz with got so many already!!!!

BUT we do need a gd/well established centre half/defensive mid…otherwise we are fooked!!!! And Richards would be a great, great signing!!!!

    ……ok MO….

If he goes to Everton he’ll get played… there again i thought that about Gosling who they got from Plymouth and hes a great young player but he still hasnt madce his Everton Debut.

If he goes to Utd he wont get played, he’ll get loan out, probably to Aderlecht.

If he comes to us then he’ll get loaned out but he might get some Carling Cup experiance before that with the first team. However we have Merida, Lansbury, Randall and Wilshire, all who Wenger has said will get a chance next season, and dont forget Emmanuel-Thomas who is a great skillful, young, versatile and exiting young player. Do we really need Ramsey? Is he really better than all of the youngsters we already have for the CM positions?
