The Samir Nasri transfer saga should come to an end tomorrow afternoon as the Marseille play-maker is officially confirmed as an Arsenal Football Club player.
Nasri and agent Jean-Pierre Bernes flew to London on Thursday to finalise the move, with a medical examination taking place on Friday. The remaining details of his switch were not completed in time for confirmation to be given that day, and with the clubs website not operating during the weekends, the month long saga has dragged on.
Although Arsène Wenger is not in the country (see below), Ken Friar and Steve Rowley have been working to tie up the deal in the Frenchman’s absence. As Young Guns told you first, Marseille chairman Pape Diouf confirmed the medical was set to take place on French TV during Friday evening, before sealing his £13 million transfer.
The terms of the contract are believed to be a five years in length, and whilst the wage amount is unknown, it has been hinted that he will earning a noteable salary during his time in London. After all the paperwork is completed, Samir will be free to spend the remaining weeks on a well deserved holiday, before pre-season begins in July.
I found one of the more interesting things about tonight’s Italy V Spain clash was that Arsène Wenger was in attendance, despite completing his work for French television. He was joined by former player Zinédine Zidane, leading to speculation he was checking up on Valenica forward David Villa.
Well done to young Cesc Fabregas for keeping his composure to slot home the winning penalty, shows how far he has come in such a short time. It was only a few years ago he was turning out at Underhill, and now he is in the semi-finals of the European Championships. Good luck to Cescy for the rest of the competition.

I’ve lost count of the times this site along with many other have said ‘Nasri deal done tomorrow/next 48 hours/next week etc etc.
I wouldn’t bother posting anymore about it until either:
A. He signs
or
B. It’s September 1st and he hasn’t.
Wenger isn’t in London, but it’s a free day at Euros, so he can go back to his home.
Wenger was more likely there watching a 13 yr old Austrian ball boy who he will try and tie up a deal for before we are outbid by MK Dons. In all seriousness tho, what is going on?? I have always stood by Wenger and the board and had to fight their corner a number of times but i am finding it increasingly difficult to do so. Despite making a net PROFIT on transfers in recent seasons with Chelsea, Utd, Liverpool, Sp*rs etc etc spending hundreds of millions, Wenger still claims that after seeing the prices at the euros “my chequebook isnt large enough”. Whats happened to the 70m? Y do the board never seem to back Wenger with large enough funds despite the record profits and some of the highest ticket prices in country? What is going on with our club??

I think you are reading too much into Wenger attending the Spain v Italy game. For me, everything about Wenger says that he could have just been watcing the game because it was a high quality game. This guy watches hours and hours of tapes of games, and in the summer he might as well watch the games live. For all we know, he might not have been scouting anybody…
On the Gomis comments… true his first touch looks pretty average, but anyone who has read anything about how Adebayor was when he first arrived in Europe will know that he can improve that. Adebayor literally couldn’t shoot when he arrived, and he said it had to be coached into him…
If Adebayor goes, from reports, we want him to go to Arsenal, at least that’s what Milan have said. They seem to be making out that we want some kind of swap deal with Barca. Could be good if it involved Etoo and/or Yaya Toure.
However, if Hleb goes to Barca also, I just worry we aren’t creating a real problem for ourselves. The player we want to hang onto the most is Cesc, if he has one of his best friends (Hleb) and friendly faces such as Adebayor and Henry at the club, coupled with the fact he has such previous links with the club… in future years, surely it’s going to make it more likely that he would feel the urge to move there…

oops
Nasri signs.. just as we told you..

Skysports says we signed him. But for 15.8 million…

they always get the price wrong i sky i expect its abit less than that, i sincearly hope that hes not a replacement for hleb as i would hope we are bolking up not replacing.
Fellow gunners, why are some of us so cruel? we all wanted Nasri and now that he has almost signed, we don’t rate him anymore, we rather take Arshavin, what a bunch of shit, i will always take Nasri over Arshavin, not that he is bad, he is good but Nasri is younger and brighter. So stop moaning and give him a chance, he will be great, and we want players who wants to come and not for the money. You will all eat up ur words about Nasri.
I think some of us are taking this Wenger scouting thing too seriously because most of his scouting will have been done by his scouts (genius I know) who would have compiled reports for him to see but he’s not gonna just buy players based on one game (although admittedly he may have been tracking some of them for a while).
Think about it, he’s in Switzerland to watch Euro 08 so why the hell wouldn’t he go to watch the game?
Chatting up Zizou as Ricey’s replacement?

Wenger has got the right idea, to do the scouting himself.
The teams that Wenger has brought together have been some of the best sides this country has ever seen.
another guess and maybe this blog will be correct
i worry that fabregas could not score the penalty because he took the last penalty…it could be pressure for him but he show that he is a proffesional player by scoring the last penalty to move spain to quarter final.
