Nasri In London For Medical & To Finalise Transfer

Samir Nasri has flown into London this afternoon to wrap up his £13 million pound move to Arsenal, according to Marseille news agency La Provence.

Following France’s elimination from Euro 2008, Nasri was absent from the rest of the squad which flew back to France. Instead Samir and his agent Jean-Pierre Bernes boarded a private plane yesterday, (photo) which touched down at Le Bourget. From there he took another private aircraft to London, which arrived this afternoon.

He will now undertake a two part medical examination. One part will take place at the Shenley based training centre, with Gary Lewin and Tony Colbert overseeing it, before the second part, which will take place with an independent doctor.

After the results of its completion, he will then put pen-to-paper on a five year contract. Should everything go according to plan, he could be officially announced as an Arsenal player as early as tomorrow. Meaning he would be our second signing on consecutive Friday’s, after Aaron Ramsey‘s switch from Cardiff last week.

Its claimed he will then leave for a three week long holiday, before settling his housing situation with girlfriend Tatiana Golovin, and then linking up with the squad for pre-season.

One of the longest transfer stories of the summer, is finally set to come to an end.

Not sure about this story. He got a private plane yesterday to Le Bourget, seen as it was a private plane why didn’t he just fly direct to London??

I bet we’ll still all be talking about when Nasri is going to sign this time next week.

    ALL FOOTBALL JOURNALISTS TAKE NOTE:

A substantiated story with credible background and photographic proof! That’s journalism…

Bye bye Flamster, three shit seasons followed by one good one does not make you irreplaceable. Hello Samir, may you gel like Sagna and look like you’ve been wearing the shirt for years.

Great news about Nasri and I cant see him going anywhere else now. Im not sure about these Asharvin stories although it would be great if they were true, maybe Nasri isnt a replacement for Hleb but Arshavin will be, although to sign him we would have to act quickly as St Petersburgh have put a time limit on the transfer. Also cant see s getting Albiol but Yaya may still be an option if Barca are willing to negotiate! Good article, again!

I am surprised that private plane stayed in the sky, if it took 24 hours to fly from Le Bourget to London i.e. 10 mph.

But on a serious note, I shall be delighted to hear confirmation that he has signed. Unfortunately, Arshavin has now been hyped up so much that I am going to be disappointed if he doesn’t sign too.

Forget Arshavin, Zenit pay him upwards of 50k a week & are extremely rich. Arsenal wouldn’t be prepared to pay him the 70 or 80k a week it would take to convince him to move.

That private plane he took to Le Bourget had 9 other players on it. I don’t really understand what La Provence were on about saying he waited back as it appears half the squad went via helicopter somewhere & the others took the plane to Le Bourget.

J.Sanderson, do you actually know for a fact he has flown into London today or are you relying on what La Provence have said?? If you know via your own sources I’ll be a lot more inclined to believe it, but I don’t believe La Provence at all.

La Provence is one of the most respected websites in France. They have close sources with Marseille, and have followed this deal throughout and been very accurate.

Added to the Setanta & BBC News, all respected news sources

BBC often get things wrong, Setanta have just posted the La Provence article in English & nothing more. Everyone keeps saying La Provence is a respected source but they said he was signing before the Euro’s & have changed it more or less daily ever since. They even say in that article you have linked to that nobody at Marseille will confirm the story.

I’ll be extremely surprised if Nasri is announced anytime soon.

The negotiations took longer than anticipated and thats why they were left after the euros. Nasri was expected to sign within the 1st 3 weeks of the transfer window but his involvement with the French national squad took president and the transfer was postponed till after the French’s involvement – in short la provence were correct, but things unexpected occurred.

his girlfriend is playing in Wimbledon on Monday, though… could it be that he’s off to London could possibly watch her play?

BTW, Unlike United and sp*rs who cannot as clubs not shoot their mouthes off about signing players, Arsenal FC are calm, quiet and cunning. Ramsey was a masterwork of Arsenal culture and class affecting a transfer. United wheeled out pundit after pundit after old boy talking up Ramsey to United. The Manchester Evening News even printed an article claiming Fergie snapped up Ramsey to begin his transfer moves (er, selling Pique did that…).

Long story short… while this has Narsi signing has dragged on and on, Arsenal FC always do us proud in how we go about our transfer business.

All that stuff about the medical in two parts was in l’equipe weeks ago.

Sebcesc, La Provence announced weeks back that the deal was agreed & totally complete but for a signature etc, then they changed it & its changed numerous times since then, they even reported there was a chance Nasri could go to Ath Madrid, so how does that make them any more respectable than The Sun or Daily Mirror who come up with exactly the same type of stories??

Respectable source to me would mean a newspaper or person that actually knows 100% something is going to happen before printing it, all they are doing is going on sources that they admit aren’t even insiders. All I’ll say is don’t get your hopes up because I think you’ll be waiting some amount of time before you hear anything official on Nasri signing.

    Arse&Nose … sorry mate. i didn’t know that.

anyway, i watched Italy and France game on Arabian channel Al-Jazeera because Wenger is working with them now.

and the presenter there Hisham Al-Khalse asked Wenger about Nasri and says ” YOUR NEW PLAYER NASRI ” !!!

    Wenger just smiled at him.

after that, Al-Khalse said to Arsene that he shoud be coaching France but Wenger said that he is happy where he are.

    * Wenger hate Turkey and Italy. so Arsenal fans shuld be .. “ANTI Turkey and ANTI ITALY”.

Why did they print either story if as they have proclaimed on several occasions that Nasri is definately joining Arsenal?? It makes no sense.

As I said originally I don’t believe La Provence know anything more than any other media outlet about whats happening with Nasri. If J had heard it from one of his sources I’d be a lot happier & more excited but coming from this lot I’m absolutely positive nothing will happen.

I read the Diogo article on Sentanta but its the same quotes used from stories linking us with the player about 2 months agao. Supposidly we put in a tiny bit of about 4m which was rejected. I think Setanta are just vomitting up old stories to get hits. Mind you I would be chuffed to get him as alot of people in south america consider him better than Pato. JS you’re a leg- even if Nasri doesn’t sign tomorrow atleast you are reporting news we all want to hear otherwise we wouldnt be on the websites looking for it. So GMR just chill out and admit you believe this hype as well- if not why would you be on here ranting and raving?

As to the Eto story, trust me its all folks..even though I am out here praying it is true. Adebayo is going nowhere, and with VP, Vela and walcott , bendtner all destined as strikers, wenger would know enough not to add to that list. He wouldn’t want to stall the development of those players anyway. So he would rather ask for Yaya than Eto.He must have stopped over while heading to Manchester city or Spurs maybe.

La Provence isn’t a reliable source, but hey I’d be happy to be wrong & see Nasri holding up an Arsenal shirt tomorrow, I’m willing to bet it won’t happen though.

To be honest your comment about J reporting things fans want to hear is somewhat childish. If he says we are signing Messi, Ronaldo & Rooney tomorrow is that ok because the fans want to hear it?? Don’t be so silly.

the best news for arsenal this euros has been clichy and mexes not getting a look in.i felt bad for clichy at first but then realised the earlier france get eliminated the better for arsenaland this transfer.plus with domenech being the idiot he is and leaving the promising young players home, abidal was number one left-back and for that alone domenech has to be sacked.b’cos every1 will agree with me that with the tournament half way abidal is and will still be the worst player at the end of it.

call me sick, but i jumped up and down when nasri was taken off against italy.why?
to start with he was coming off injury free and with him not getting any proper play time at the tournament no one will come back to challenge us for his signature.ooohhh yyyyeeeeeeaaaaa.
    bring him on.

will also like to say welcome back to west brom and thanx for the six points in advance.

Wow I must say this is fantastic news. Nasri is superb, and might take a bit of time to adjust, but once he does i think he will be just as, if not more effective than hleb. I certainly hope Hleb stays. imagine having the quality of Nasri, and Walcott to be able to come off the bench. that’s what we missed last season. I can’t see Le Boss making too many signings after this one, unless he sells some people. Alot of fans tend to forget that we still have the likes of Walcott, Diaby, denilson, Djourou, Senderos, Eboue, Bendtner and Gilberto all fighting for first team spots…Then we have much younger players like Randall, Gibbs, Traore, Merida Vela and ramsey all fighting for Bench spots at the very least. do you REALLY think arsene will sell any of those? secondly, we know how much faith Le boss has in his players, and his policy of not bringing in superstars coz it may hamper the progress of some of these players. Personally i see no more than one more signing, and that’s a backup left back. maybe if we’r lucky we’l get a CDM, but i can’t see it.

Hey Arse&Nose, I saw an interview on Fox Sports with the Australian Mark Milligan. He said he did trials with both Arsenal and Man City’s first teams. Both for a couple of weeks at a time. He said he did speak to Wenger a couple of times one on one. That was basically all he said about Arsenal but he did say he was expecting to hear back from Man City. The way he said that though, was more in hope IMO.

I’m not sure if he would have been good enough for our first team to tell you the truth.
