Squad Numbers Announced – 12. Vela – 16. Ramsey

Arsenal have confirmed the official squad numbers for the coming campaign, with Carlos Vela collecting the number 12 shirt, and new signing Aaron Ramsey 16. Manuel Almunia has taken the number one jersey, with third choice Vito Mannone receiving his 24.

Number 8 is expected to be given to Samir Nasri following the completion of his transfer, but the numbers 14, 18, 23, 28, and 29 all remain vacant. Once the Carling Cup begins in September, more numbers will be assigned to the younger players who participate.

So, now we have the kits and the numbers, who will you be getting on your strip and why?

    4. Cesc because he’s my favourite Arsenal player ofcourse and I think he’s the least likely to leave us any time soon so I have good value for my money :P

other choice would be 8. Samir Nasri or ? – Nacer Barazite

Hmmm, i would rather wait until the end of the market before making a choice. I think if we make no more signings, and nobody leaves, then i would go for 26 Bendtner or maybe Almunia because i love the Goalkeeper kit.

I am very disappointed. I read back at the archive news, and every French site, every another site said officialy that Nasri joined to Arsenal in MAY! Now it’s middle of June…
There is a problem, I think. But it would be very nice if the Arsenal confirmed the Nasri talks. It’s too boring now :)
Maybe it was a great gossip, and Nasri won’t sign off to us.

Why is Gallas keeping the number 10 is beyond me, It could be given to a more creative player like Nasri and then give the number 8 to Walcot, that makes sense.
It would be fitting if Wilshere got number 14 and Lansbury number 18.
Wenger is making a lot of noises that we don’t have a lot of money to spend, but thats mainly to drive the prices dawn, but I’m still waiting on our general in the heart of the defense to arrive, maybe he will buy from countries like Russia if the prices are low, and surprise us with a good defender to put some pressure on Toure and Gallas.
If the sale of Hleb and Adebayore is completed, Arsenal should get at least 32m for them.
I suppose we will use 12m to buy nasri, and we can use the other 20m left added to a 10m from the club’s own pocket to buy a great striker with 15m and a great defender for the other 15m.
Anything else should be funded from the sale of fringe player such as Senderos, Djourou, Hoyote and Eboue.
The sale of these 4 players can get us Arshavin and would be a great luxury to have.

An update on the Nasri debacle – apparently the transfer will only go ahead if Hleb leaves the club. This looked clear a month ago but as we know the Hleb situation seems to have died down. If Hleb stays Nasri will not be joining.

I’m not suggesting that this is necessarily true – but it does resonate. In terms of media attention the two stories certainly coincided.

The club shirt is a fairly expensive outlay for the majority of us working steady, average pay jobs especially when we have other overheads. Therefore, I will only ever get a player’s name who is widely accepted to be an Arsenal legend, on the back of my shirt. I bought the last home shirt and had 14 Henry put on the back and then the club sold him last summer! Thankfully, he will always be considered an all-time great amongst the Gooner faithful however, I would be bummed to get my shirt named and numbered only to have that player sold next year! I’ll probably get the new away shirt and have either Tony Adams or David “Rocky” Rocastle on the back if the new shirt, is as rumoured, supposed to be in commemoration of our title winning season 20 years ago.

I think all Arsenal fans are better off just focusing on who is actually at the club, for example Eduardo’s recovery, Vela’s impact, the development of Bendtner and Walcott etc.

“Of course things could always open up but at the moment I must keep to Arsenal’s official line and that is that for the moment there is no possibility of negotiating.” – this was said by Adriano Galliani (Ac Milan vice-president) about Adebayor’s talking.
If it’s true we must wait for Nasri until the end of Euros…

Fellow gunners, why is it that everyone who is been linked with us, we all want him to come, how many players do u people want,we want Nasri, and now Arshavin and who is next, please as my my fellow gunner pointed, lets concentrate on what we have and not what is coming in, we have Bentner who is better than Ade imo, the guy has vision, skill and almost everything, what so u think Ade can do that Bentner won’t? maybe his movement is not better that Ade, but overall he is better. We don’t need Arshavin though he is great, we have enough, we have Rosicky if fit, Vela, Hleb, Walcott, we have enough, we need defenders and Defensive midfielders, i would prefer Song there, but u never know what Wenger is planning, let’s wait and see.

if David Villa is worth 40 million and C. Ronaldo is worth 100 million than Arsenal should ask about 50 to 60 million for Adebayor. Why do we sell our players so cheap?!! We should be like Olympique Lyon. Squize every last penny out of them.

I hope he wants to stay but if he wants to leave than I will personally give him the kick. We want loyalty at Arsenal, if he can get another season with 30 goals he will defintly get an upgrade on his contract.

what about song 17. a controversialchoice but im starting to love this guy. He has recently filled me with a lot of confidence after the ACN and at the end of the season. Id liketo see him challenging toure and gallas, but hes also a good utility player maybe? Hes young and so not at all the finished article. But he looks good… and that hair is something special. Maybe his good performances are down to his huge afro- like samson or somthing lol :) – I hope he never gets it cut!!
