Bischoff Proves Fitness & Signs Arsenal Contract

Arsenal have today confirmed the signing of former Werder Bremen midfielder Amaury Bischoff, with the Portuguese Under 21 International penning a one year contract, with the option of a second should he impress.

Amaury rejected the offer of a new contract with the German outfit last month, and quickly announced to the press he was set to join Arsenal, describing the transfer as a ‘dream’. He has been working hard for the past month in the gym at London Colney in a bid to improve his fitness after a thigh injury last season, and has done enough to become the latest addition to the squad.

Bischoff will wear the number 28 shirt made famous by Kolo Toure, and will meet with his new team mates on Thursday following their return from Tonight’s friendly against VfB Stuttgart. The 21 year old has already confirmed he will be playing Reserves team football in the early stages of his Arsenal career.

Young Guns has put together two articles to offer you in depth information about our latest recruit, with a Fans View, and a Player Biography.

Worth a punt on this one!

If he proves his fittness then he could well be a good signing, if he doesn’t then we haven’t exactly lost anything have we!!

I really hope this isn’t the extra body in midfield that Wenger was talking about.

I complteley forgot about this Bischoff deal and was more focused on the prospect of us maybe signing Arshavin, Veloso, Yaya Toure etc. I’m not writing this guy off but I think the club needs & the fans deserve a more proven signing.

Maybe it will still come who knows…

we wont sign anyone else now, thats it.

im sorry, but we have taken at least one step back from last season.

i was willing to give arsene the chance to bring players in and remained calm, but i am now very unhappy that we have signed some injury prone chump who no one has ever heard of in their lives as our replacement for 3 central midfielders that have left since xmas.

    utter utter shite.

Hmm. Only one year contract with option of a 2nd? Good that he is a “veteran” signing by Arsene, but I would have liked to have seen a longer term deal because sure as shootin this kid will over-perform, be worth gizillions and next year we will loose him to Inter et al.

What a signing this could be. I see him as one to up the numbers. At least our depth is growing. And he could just, just be another one. But let’s not get too urgent, Bischoff could be Bitchoff, while he could also be one of Wenger’s ultimate. But I’m very happy about this – very, very glad, we’ve moved our hands in the shop.

Wenger said he wanted to buy another midfielder AFTER Bischoff had been training and getting his fitness back meaning we will make another CM signing so stop worrying. Also wenger said the signing would be over 24 thus ruleing out Bischoff as the man he was talking about.

I can´t believe people that are moaning about us not signing somebody are mad when we actually make a signing. Just because we signed this guy doesn´t mean we won´t sign anybody else. This is probably the definite signing that Wenger was talking about, which means we might buy another player. With the number of CM players we have, I doubt that we are in the hunt for another one. A CB would be a more logical signing IMO.

Stuttgart this evening. I am expecting another great first team watch. Will there be any warm up for the game at this site? I am curious about the team we will play tonight.

Hes a punt. A shot to nothing. A no lose situation. Wenger most likely tracked the kid through his scouts in France when he was there. He moved to Bremen but it never happened there for him. His contract was running out so Wenger says come over for a trial and we will see about getting you back on track. If he is successful we may have another player like we got Flamini and may be an asset to the squad. If not then we offload him to wherever and move on. I really dont see the big deal. He will probably start in the reserves allowing the likes of Ramsey and/or Wilshere more time with the senior squad.

Sounds like another Stefan Malz or Alberto Mendez-type signing. Wenger saw him play for 15 minutes and saw something so is willing to have a closer look. Likely he’ll do nothing and disappear like the other two into the unknown. Alternatively he could work out like Flamini but his injury record doesn’t sound too promising.

Oh my god. A lot of moaners are moaning about this signing.

Come on, guys. Wenger doesn’t just look at him for a short period of time. I think Wenger knows why he might be able to offer the team and thus giving him a chance to prove his fitness before joining Arsenal.

Do you guys really think that Wenger would take such a big risk by taking him without knowing him? Don’t forget, I read somewhere that Wenger has tracked this player since his days at Strasbourg (not sure about the spelling), Wenger’s hometown.

There had been good reviews of him from Wenger’s sources but of course injuries had played a huge role in his slow rise to first team football. Besides, Werder wouldn’t have brought him in at first if he did not impress the German team.

Just treat him as an addition to our current squad depth. We won’t lose a lot if he doesn’t make it.

he may yet to proved himself at first team level but wenger must surely saw something good about this guy. we get him for free so if he turn out to be such a waste then just free transfer him next season. he can’t be worst than our youngsters (randall, landsbury, gibbs, etc) right? so at least there is decent back up if needed. however if he turn out to be another flamini, this could be a marvelous piece of business by wenger.

I don’t think there’s any reason to not trust Wenger’s judgement.

Wait until you see the guy play a bit before you judge his playing ability.

I’d be more worried if Wenger spent 17m on a cartwheeling peanut like Robbie Keane. The boss knows what he’s doing. And we stand to pick up another 7-8m from Bentley going to Spuds as well.

As for now we quite simply and obviously don’t have a squad to compete with manchester united and chelsea! Don’t care what anyone says, thats a fact! I don’t mind us signing this bishoff geeza so long as we still bring in two class signings….im not saying we blow loadsa money…..but i believe we need to spend a little this summer to add class to the squad! If you’ve got half a footballling brain you will know that arsenal need some experience and class in the defensve areas and defensive midfield! What wnger does is amazing with young players, but we have gone three years without winning anything and so this is obvious!

Maybe he has unearthed a real gem here. Or maybe not. Maybe he has another Mendez or Maltz or possibly numerous other numbnuts that have been and gone during his reign. Having only played a handful of games for the reserves in 3 years I doubt anyone knows how this one will turn out. I certainly hope this isn’t the signing AW promised. At £1015 a ST I would hope for some serious investment on a decent player who can come straight into the team and do a job.

Arsenal were 4 points off the championship last year and all our guys have an extra years experience, Theo will now be a mainstay rather than a reserve this year, Bendtner has an extra years experience so can provide good quality back up to Ade. Nasri is a better player than Hleb if a CDM is brought in Arsenal will be a better side than last year.

Actually if you ask me Eboue has done well at CDM, surprisingly, but i think in the prem he is too reckless and would concede way too many fouls, but credit where its due, hes done well.

Another point, can anyone notice again that we are vunerable to long balls over the top, i mean come on man Arsene pinpointed this last season, but yet again we have seemingly done nothing about it, im sorry but im seriously getting concerned at our lack of quality and centre half, thats where we will lose the title this season if Arsene doesnt strengthen.

lol i think we should lay off Eboue, he is a very good right back who was converted to right wing, he wasnt great but he done a job, he played centre mid today and done a job, what people need to understand is that he strengthens are squad.

He could be a first choice right back for anyone bar chelsea and Man Utd, hes a good squad player, he doesnt whine complain and throw dummys out the pram, he gets on with it, people should realise that, especially in the modern day footballers have become selfish, i respect the fact that Eboue will play in 3 positions without complaint and do a job, thats why Arsene likes him, and i think we should respect what he brings the squad.

As a back up right back, that IS Eboue’s role, NOT as a bloomin right winger tho.

But, that was last season and given what we did, or almost did with that liability in the team, shows we can do things this year.

    GOD BLESS GAEL CLICHY

Answer me this, is there a better left back in the world that Gael Clichy, i mean really i know everyone loves Cesc RVP, etc but my favourite player is Gael Clichy hands down.

I loved Ashley Cole, because he was a young English player who stood out in a good Arsenal team, it hurt when he left because if im honest he was the sole reason i watched England games, just so i could identify with a player from Arsenal being an England International.

Since he went to Chelsea i dont even watch England, the point im trying to make is that i feel Gael has gone beyond Ashley Cole in terms of ability, i dont even think about Ashley anymore because i honestly believe Gael is a better option, and lets not forget the terrible injurys he suffered earlier in his Arsenal career. Last year i dont think he missed a game, and bar his birmingham mistake was our most consistent player, he would in my view walk into any team in the world right now, and im certain this time next year dont be surprised if you hear rumours about him being target by Barca or Madrid, but i actually feel for once we have a foreign player who loves the club.

Everyone gets excited about Strikers and Midfielders, but for me the player that i have most admiration for, is our World Class Left back, I salute you Gael Clichy.

Dwayne i agree he should strictly be a back up right back, but people disrespect him too much, h was linked with Barca last season, and he would i repeat get into any team other than Man U, or Chelsea as right back in the premier league, he hasn’t whined about Sagna, taking his place, hes got on with it when others wouldnt have, he’s not a right winger, but if Sagna got injured wouldnt you be happy to see that we have Eboue to come in.

Even if you hate him, you cant say hes a bad right back and cant do a job for the team, or move on to a good club and get first choice football.

I for one am happy at the club, and feel we are stronger for it.

i cant believe when i first see the team line up, eboue of all ppl play in center midfield. he play quite well but denilson really step up. i like the way he control the midfield. ramsey came in 2nd half and looks very comfortable in center midfield. it’s like he play for arsenal for years now. nasri shown he worth every penny wenger spend on him. walcott so explosive can’t wait to see him in action for next match. RVP look sharp and full of quality. adebayor same old offside lover. clichy as solid as ever. vela and bendtner look a very good partnership. eduardo might not want to rest too long as vela could displace him in few months. finally, wilshere will give wenger something to think about. he might get play time againts either juventus or real madrid. overall, good game for everyone.

    MIKES;

He didnt whine coz he played all those games in midfield!

And it was HIM, who told us Barca and Milan wanted him!

I wouldn’t take too much out of today’s result, although if we had lost, the media would have jumped on that and really stuck the knife in.

    DWAYNE

TRUE, and with him in the team we led the league until March, so how terrible could he have been, also he played midfield but shared responsibility with Rosicky, he was back up and did a job, now im not saying he was david silva Queresma or Ronaldo but he done a job, what people dont understand is that Walcott often leaves us defensively weak on that side, wenger didnt trust him to cover Sagna or track back, but he knew Eboue could and did.

Hes a good squad player, you may disagree but thats my personal opinion
