Coquelin Added To Arsenal Squad For Barnet Fixture

Young Guns has learnt that Arsenal have added 17 year old Frenchman Francis Coquelin to the travelling party for tomorrow’s pre-season certain raiser against Barnet.

Arsenal.com confirmed the news we told you two months ago that Coquelin has signed for the club, but it is thought the deal was only announced today to avoid confusion ahead of the 3pm kick off tomorrow.

It’s not known if he 17 year old all action defensive midfielder will feature, although his late inclusion would seem that Arsène Wenger already has his plans fixed for the game. Just travelling with the squad will offer a fantastic experience for the France Under 17 International who joined Arsenal on a free transfer.

Both sides have opted to play in the classic 1-11 shirts, with the substitutes wearing 12-25. It is not know if Coquelin’s promoting is as the result of any injuries, but we believe he has been added on his own merit.

You can read a complete Match Preview ahead of the game Here, and a Profile on Francis himself by clicking his name at the start of the article.

“who was the guy on the touch line coming on with the spiky hair?”

James Dunne, no nonsense central defencive mid, decent passer, hard shot but doesnt score many, ok in the air, very physical and gets sent off a bit.

Duno why Mannone was taken off, seems a bit silly if u ask me.

ah well, 2-1, Ramsey, Wilshire and Barazite stood out, Simpson had a decent game and got it right when the pressure was on, Coquelin was good aswell in a quiet way, great tackling and very calm on the ball, looks promising.

Just watchd the game Arsenal’s reserves played well 2nd half but the first team didnt play that well in the first half. Ramsey, Lansbury,Wilshere,Simpson and Nordveit all seemed to have good games. Was really dissapointed about the poor performances from Walcott, Bendtner, Denilson and Troare.

JohnV: No need to be disappointed, it’s their first game back trying to obtain match fitness, be glad that they’ve got a while until the west brom game.

    Wilshere, Wilshere, Wilshere. Wowzah.

Simpson looks like he is going for it, trying to impress le boss, I think if he can play a couple more friendlies like that, I think he might make the CC team.

No way Ramsey was great in the first half he was the best player on the pitch for the Arsenal and ran the show. Wilshere is good but not as good as Ramsey.

Ramsey still looks too excitable to me. He’s certainly got a great understanding of where to knock passes but he needs to calm down and figure out the best pass and where to make space. He also seems too quick to knock it side to side that seemed to mess with what we are used to and it looked like it was frustrating for the rest of the midfield who want to play a shorter passing game.

Yea ok, but Wilshire played better than Ramsey today, Ramsey played well but Wilshire was awesome, set up 2 goals, got 1 stright assist and ran the game for large periods of time.
