I think i’ll be watching Merida. I’ve seen Gibbs play now and Spain need a win so it’ll be nice to see his workrate.

It’s a shame not more Arsenal players are playing as this England team looks technically poor yet they are meant to be the new wave of talent. Have u seen Dan Gosling and what do you think opf him.

It makes no sense how the Germany-Bulgaria game is being shown on “British” Eurosport when the England game is on around the same time. Baffled!

Thanks JS. So Merida is fit to play for Spain today? He didn’t play on Monday and I don’t know if he’s injured or suspended.

I really hope Wenger is looking at Ibrahim Afellay. I like what I’ve seen from him, and he just seems like an Arsenal player.

these departures, particularly flamini, diarra and hleb, i’m sure have set wenger’s project back a couple of seasons…
yes, we would entertain, dazzle and even challenge but i’m afraid it’ll be another trophyless season.
still we luv the arsenal bring on the new season!!!

Merida has been rather the best of a poor Spanish team so far, his superb ball control at the end of the half! woahhh top man.

    COME ON FRAN!

have a look at the tribute Arsenal.com give Gilberto… vs what Hleb got… question to ponder for this evening… is Cesc, Diaby, Denilson, Song/Djourou, Ramsey and perhaps Bischoff good enough … or do we need another central midfielder… particularly one closer to his mid 20s than his teens

Merida is playing really well, shame his team mates aren’t making the most of his passes and crosses. He looks like he has filled out a bit and I could see him playing more in the first team this season.

Why did he just get taken off, he’s been the best player on the pitch by some distance.

Also, did I hear the commentator say “we haven’t seen much of Mérida?” He;s been at the forepoint of 80% of Spain’s attacks..

this spain team not good enough to keep up with merida passing and vision. spain play with no brain, should learn to control the game, that’s why they struggle despite technically better than hungry. i think merida game already at 1st team level so he struggle to pace down his game to youth level. if he stay(not going out on loan) then we might see him play quite a lot with hleb and gilberto just leaved. ahhh…hungry just scored. merida off, that guy come in for merida aquino done nothing and hungry got the lead.

He has been very good today. I agree with F.Merida; I was bemused by those comments. I’m sure I’ll be labelled biased, but for the time he was on the pitch, he was Spain’s best player, with Aaron Niguez coming just after.

Parejo gives the ball away too much for my liking….he was worse in the first game against Germany. Ignacio Camacho is a bit rusty but he has great potential, (will be good in the prem in future as he is a big, brave lad) Aaron Niquez is quick and tricky but i hate players like that who often fail to play the right pass and do fucking unnecessary step-overs. They dont deserve to play with Fran..i think i counted about three occasions where Fran put them in an excellent goal-scoring position only for them to flop

J, sorry if this has been explained elsewhere. Is Merida eligible to play in the first team yet? If so, where is Wenger likely to play him?

Also, I can’t see why Denilson can’t stake his claim to a CM spot now alongside Cesc. You don’t captain a Brazil side if you’re rubbish. But unless the boss makes another signing for a DM, he could even be first choice. I can’t see who Wenger would start to use as a preference.
