Kerrea Gilbert Plays 45 Minutes On Leicester Debut

Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester 5-4 Hinckley

After joining Leicester City on a season long loan three days ago, Kerrea Gilbert was named in the starting line up for the Foxes opening pre-season fixture, against Hinckley United.

Manager Nigel Pearson named a 29-man squad for the contest, and opted for a experienced and strong starting XI right from the off. The good news for Kerrea was that he was able to start in his preferred position of right back, and was granted licence to get forward on every occasion.

A Hinckley club record crowd of 3,231 gathered to watch the encounter, which unlike most friendlies, was hugely entertaining throughout. Much travelled striker Steve Howard gave the visitors an early lead, which was doubled by Nicky Adams shortly after.

The home side had a superb FA Cup campaign last year, and showed the fighting spirit to come smashing back. Cup hero Gez Murphy bagged a brace, before Adam Webster sent the fans into raptures just before the break, as he put United in front.

Half time brought a mass of substitutions, with the complete side being replaced. This meant Gilbert would see out the game on the bench, but he clearly made a decent impact, despite the late collapse.

All the changes added up to a difficult combination for Hinckley, who struggled to get to grips with the fresher Foxes side. A stunning solo strike from Max Gradel levelled proceedings at 3-3, before Webster snatched his second of the game.

With time ticking down, Leicester flexed their muscles, and pulled off an amazing come-back. A Matty Fryatt penalty set up a nervous finish, before the home fans were left distraught as Ashley Chambers smashed an unlikely win.

Pearson will now take his side to Slovenia for a five-day training camp, and admitted he is still learning about his squad.

“I learned a lot about the team today and I have got a few things to consider over the next few weeks.

“I am delighted that we got asked some serious questions out there. Hinckley played very well. They scored some good goals and gave us a bit of a wake up call.”

Hi Matthew, nope, he has a very quiet game at right back, slowly feeling his way back into the swing of things.

I believe its his attitude problems which has been his downfall, its a real shame, because he could have been a top player.

The boss obvoiusly thinks Gilbert has serious potential otherwise he would have just got rid of him. Hopefully, he can turn himself around this season because it would be great to have a strong english RB coming through behind Sagna.

anyonw heard the news ‘Aguero’s agent, Jose Segui, has claimed that a leading English side is interested in signing the striker. Although the agent hasn’t revealed which team it is, he has mentioned that it isn’t Chelsea’ they are sayin its man united but i agree because arsenal dont hav 35 million pounds to spend but aguero would be a huge signin for arsenal. but if they sell adebayor n others such as gilberto, hoyte,( i think djorou should leave aswell) then maybe aguero might jus join!

DOES ANYONE AGREE WID DESE COMMENTS.
Players who should leave and for dis price n order-
1.Hoyte (WORSE than senderos) only still here cus hes english
2.Senderos (we cant have bitches like him makin MANY mistakes)
3.Gilberto(still a good player but needs to look after his children cus hus age is catchin him n he dnt want a heart attack on field)
4.Hleb(very disloyal if we never took him from stuttgart he’ll be at a team like getafe or mallorca)
5.Adebayor(Also disloyal worst than hleb who likes players that say they are stayin den say dey goin, den say they are goin again, etc, fuck him im african but this bastard needs to remember what life was like at monaco he WAS NOT A STARTER. its like takin in an assylum seeker then when they get the chance they backstab u)
6.Eboue- If we keep playing him at RM then i suggest he leaves, walcott is better in that position. But sagna is better at RB then Eboue but Eboue would not take being on the bench cus of his attitude problems if u watch him on the field when pple like bendtner lose the ball he starts bitching like he dont do it every 7 minutes.
7.Rosicky- Im sorry i love Rosicky as a player but those injurys mate n since you came arsenal you were meant to have a long range shooting skill ut we aint really seen the goals to prove it.

Make the distinction between Eboue the person and his attitude and Eboue the player.
Walcott may be better going forward, but he tend to disappear in game. We have often conceded game from his side, because he has lost his marker and suddenly our right is faced with two players.
In two of our bigger game, it was the case.
Against Manchester United at the Emirates, within 10 minutes of him replacing Eboue, he forgot to track back Patrice Evra and Ronaldo scored from his cross.
Against Liverpool, after that amazing run to cross for Adebayor he forgot to defend. Toure (playing at right back) was then force to cover for him, got caught by a ball behind him and conceded a penalty. If Walcott had been in place, Ryan Babbel would not have been able to cut inside behing Toure.
Against other teams it was the same, with the difference that they did not have the quality to put us under pressure.

If you do not believe in Eboue performance, rewatch the game against AC Milan vs Arsenal game and you will see how he shut out Maldini and everybody coming on his side.

It may not make the headline, but having a good balance is as necessary and with Hleb and players on the left side tending to favour going forward, Eboue is just as necessary as other more flamboyant players.

Arsene Wenger compared Eboue role to Ray parlour role late at Arsenal, in this month interview the Romford Pele explains exactly what his role enticed. With Overmars forgetting his defense duty, Emmanuel Petit were covering for him and Viera was sliding on the left to cover Petit zone and he was sliding to cover for Viera.
Having started as a right back, Eboue has also a better understanding of the requirements when doubling up with Sagna. We have not conceded goal from the fact that Sagna was upfield when Eboue was playing right midfield.
