Arsenal’s South American Chief Richard Law has revealed further details of the club’s partnership with Spanish outfit UD Salamanca, and has reassured The Union’s supporters that the Gunners will be loaning them a fantastic player for the coming campaign.
Law was quizzed on a whole manner of subjects in the Spanish Sports paper ‘AS‘, and admitted Salamanca’s style of play was key on the link-up.
“We looked at Salamanca three years ago for their style of play, which is very attractive. Arsenal also likes to touch and move the ball. Carlos Vela was a great success for all and opened a path [for us]“
As we revealed two weeks ago, Pedro Botelho will be spending next season with UDS, and Law challenged the Brazilian to take the mantle set by Carlos Vela, and show he can be even better.
“I only know that he [Pedro] has to come back to Salamanca for pre-season on the 21st. He has lived in the first year and experienced a process of adaptation and this season things can go very well. We hope that the history of Botelho is as good or better than Vela’s. “
“Dani Lopez leaving does not have any influence [on the partnership]. One of the most important things in this agreement between Arsenal and Salamanca is that we do not press any conditions [on Salamanca] in any respect. “
Normally the Gunners send non E.U. talents to the Segunda outfit, but Arsenal are keen to loan a foreign Reserve team player this year, and Law admits this process has come after a long dialogue with the club.
“We spent quite some time talking with Salamanca about what we are doing, and very specifically about a player. He is a great footballer, with excellent potential and upon which we have placed high hopes .
As you know, Arsenal have a team of reserves that we want to gain first team experience. It is necessary to consider that many of the players who we have are international. I do not want to appear arrogant, but if you’re already signed up by Arsenal you have more than enough potential to be a great footballer. “
“You do not have to [be Non-EU]. For the relationship that we have seen with Salamanca and the characteristics that meets the club in his dedication to new talent, it might be a EU player”
The article in AS hints that the player is either Nacer Barazite or Rui Fonte, but with Fonte already being on loan from Sporting Lisbon, it seems that Rui will not be going to Spain for the year.

Will it be 2 loan players or will we be signing another South American prodigy and loaning him out again, J?
That last comment made no sense! I mean will it be 2 players(pedro and a reserve player) or 3 players and we’ll sign someone like Patrik etc…
I heard it was Barazite aswell as Botelho and is it true that R.Sociedad will get Fran Merida on loan next season.
anybody hear that we are linked with xabi alonso because liverpool need the cash for G.Barry and we need a defensive midfielder
I hope it ain’t Fran, he deserves to play in the top flight.
Yeah, Fran deserves atleast 10 games this season.
Johnny: Alonso would be nice, even though he has good understanding with Cesc, he isn’t that defensive.
Might it be Barazite?. With the Recall from loan option?
its obviously barazite.
Rui’s on loan from sporting/ how does that work out>
Won’t they just take hi back if he is as good as everyone thinks he is?
I already covered the Barazite/Pedro Sociedad thing last week
http://youngguns.wordpress.com/2008/07/10/arsenal-offer-barazite-pedro-botelho-to-real-sociedad/
seems Skysports just rehashed it.
Pedro is Salamanca’s for next year.
no1fran_merida – agree 100%
Rui Fonte is not on loan from Sporting Lisbon. Fact as confirmed by Arsenal in one of last seasons matchday programmes.
Rui told Portugal based newspaper abola last month he is only on loan from Arsenal. That he has agreed a new contract with Sporting, which he will sign if Arsenal dont buy him at the end of the season.
