Norwich To Talk With Arsenal Over Second Gibbs Loan

Norwich City manager Glenn Roeder is set to hold talks with Arsenal about a second loan spell for England Under 19 Winger Kieran Gibbs.

Kieran spent the final three months of last season on loan with the Canaries, and although he spent most of his time on the bench, still made six competitive starts. Roeder has a close relationship with Arsène Wenger, and admits he will be speaking with the Arsenal manager about bringing the 18 year old for another spell in Norfolk.

“Kieran Gibbs is a player for whom last season ended too soon, he was getting better by the week.”

“I would like to think after Arsenal’s pre-season Arsène might like to let him come back here, we’ll have to wait and see.”

Gibbs was on target for the Reserves on his return to the club against Aston Villa, and told Arsenal.com after the fixture he would prefer to be loaned out again rather than play for Neil Banfield’s second string.

“On loan I learned the value of training [with a first-team] and the whole match day experience of travelling. Winning is also more important when you step up to that level.”

“I was only there for three months but I have learned some good things at Norwich. Realistically though I think I need to go out again for a few more months before I have got the right amount of experience.”

Although he is currently enjoying his holiday, Kieran will have an early start to the season as he jets off to the Czech Republic next week for the European Under 19 Championships. He will be present at the training sessions during next week, before the tournament begins on the 14th of July.

Following its commencement on the 26th, he will then return to London and is expected to feature in the first teams pre-season fixtures, as he did last year with a stunning performance against Inter Milan the highlight.

I liked him in Emirates Cup last season. But with the arrival of Ramsey an Nasri I think his chances are limmited.

    yeah…

we should give our players to teams that give them a game every 2 weeks at least.

It is difficult when you join a club half way through the season and try and force your way in. The squad is already established.

But i agree and Wenger has already spoken of his caution regarding sending players out on loan.

I thought we sent these players out on loan to gain experience and that means playing games not keeping the bench warm.

Isnt being able to force yourself in to the team part of the learning process? being able to learn that ur place isnt gonna come without work….?? Norwich is good for gibbs!!

Think we should bring him to the first team. Forget loaning him out again, he now needs to develop at Arsenal and be given a chance to try and break into the first team, It’ll Give the team competition.
One problem I have with Arsenal is that we have the smallest team in the top four of the Epl, making our starting line up always so predictable, making players complacent.
Mr Wenger needs to promote a few more youths like Gibbs to the first team to give more competition. I swear Gibbs is a natural left winger, something we are lacking. he could fill the void we have a of natural left winger

I dont think Arsenal can risk using gibbs quite yet. he needs the week in week out experience of playing competitive football and a loan is the only place he is going to get that. he should have another full year, but its so important that he gets plenty of games. if he has not got many by December i would prefer we bring him back or send him elsewhere. an arsenal level player needs to be impressive in a team like Norwich. If they cannot stand out there, at least in some games, then they have little chance at a massive club like Arsenal.

Great article as per usual ;)

Gibbs is a decent young player with bundles of potential but I feel his future lies elsewhere, maybe at a Championship side like Norwich etc. We’ll see how he performs in Euro U-19 first, then I’ll make my own judgements.

Couldnt this guy be a good second left back nxt year?
He seems relatively disciplined and composed on the ball, and it doesnt look like traore can play there, so the only back-up really is Gallas which isnt ideal.
    Hoyte isnt good enough either

He needs to go on loan cos to be brutally honest he isn’t good enough!I can’t understand how he gets picked by England and Mark Randall doesnt.

i think he is a player good enought to make it at arsenal, and if he does not i would not be amused, if you are meant to have english players at a team you have to give them a chance to show you what they can do, otherwise what is the point. what has he not got that makes him not good anough for arsenal. i know its is a bit early to say, but for his age he is one of the more mature players at arsenal with great potential. randall is the same as gibbs although he is more central with gibbs more suited to playing on the wing. lansbury is also mature in the way he plays. these three players are technicalyy gifted and they know how to play football, they are players who when in the game do not panic and do what is needed to help the team get something in a must win game. wilshere is a bit young to comment on having not seen him enough, but he also has what it takes as the players that have got potential shine for a team, and their individual performances stand out. gibbs randall lansbury and wilshere have been so important for the reserves in the past few years, without them in the team things would have been very diferent. they have got what it takes to win, and atleats one of them is needed in a team to have line up which would consist of a real leader. when you have a leader and an individual like that then he is special. teh four players that i have mentioned are that. and in the future players like them are needed in a team, players like that forge a wining team and a dominating team as all of them are leaders. none of the talent shown by gibbs, randall, or lansbury should be wasted. as what other technically giftyed and mature players would you find then these three players??????? it is hard.

i like gibbs’ attitude and he looks like a good player but i feel there are far more impressive in our reserve setup and would prefer to see the likes of brazite, merida, lansbury, wilshere get a shot at epl minutes/carling cup starting positions than gibbs. im prett sure gibbs would have many loan options next season

i would like to see barazite or merida loaned to lower epl sides – perhaps wba their manager absolutely loves arsenal and hasbeein inspired by out attacking play

Gibbs is a good player and was good at the emirates cup last year. although hes not our sort of quality, we need better younger players coming through.

send players millwall trust me i watch millwall alot and i think millwall will get the best out of players. look at simpson if arsenal get rid of him it will be a loss coz he is very talented and has got what it takes to play for arsenals carling cup team and england u21 this season hear is some points.
1)first player to score hat trick at emirates (in the first half)
    2)strong for his age
    3)very fast
4)low gravity and still gets headers in
5)got millwall league 1 player of the year
6)keep millwall in league 1 with hes great goals
    7)hes english
    8)hes from london
    9)he supports the club
10)he played u18 football at the age of just 14
come on millwall get him back on loan if arsenal is not gonna use him this season.

hi apparently arsenal have made an offer for adil chihi with spurs also wanting him he will decide on july 18 2008 which club he wants to join. Hes supposedly a fast left winger, with amazing creativity.

He reminds me of De Jong from Holland as he can play in Central MID. However I feel he is being dismissed because for one reason is his size. I don’t think we should shoot him down. He has high energy and is brave. I like randall and diaby though.
