Arsenal must wait for the outcome of a UEFA tribunal before completing the free transfer of Portuguese Under 21 International Amaury Bischoff.
Gunners officials are believed to have agreed terms with Bischoff, which will see the 21 year old pen an initial one year contract, with the option of a second should he impress. However, the hold up is regarding UEFA, who are currently making a decision on how much Arsenal will have to pay his former employers Werder Bremen, in compensation.
Amaury’s deal with Werder expired on July 1st, but he rejected the offer of a new contract, to complete a ‘dream’ transfer to North London. According to reports in his homeland, Arsène Wenger met Bischoff in a German Hotel, but was forced to cancel talks after a Hotel porter called the local media.
Should all the formalities be completed, and the contract signed, he could be registered in time to make his debut against Barnet next Saturday.
Contrary to reports, Bischoff is a creative and technical midfielder, who can play all across the park. He made 62 appearances for Bremen’s Under 23 side, scoring on 6 occasions. The player himself has already confirmed he will begin his Arsenal career in the Reserves, as he looks to build up match fitness after a thigh problem which ended his season early.
The key to excitement over this transfer is knowledge.

worth to take a risk on him if where are recieving him on a free transfer
This dont make much sense. why would he sign on a one year deal, with the option of a second? I’m sure Wenger would tie him up on a 4 year deal. Wenger’s been monitoring his progress for many years and i somehow dont see him offereing him yearly contracts.
I also read today that Wenger has faith in him and he would be starting in the first team.
“The key to excitement over this transfer is knowledge.”
You what?
So, he aint a crock who never broke into the Bremen 1st team then?
Im sure he will add depth to our wafer thin squad, even if it will be from the treatment room.
Its a 1 year deal as he needs to prove his fitness fell.
Did that knowledge get you all excited?
Who ever has seen the pre season video who has impressed , out of barazite , simpson , wilshere and looks to be pushing for a first team spot ?
Check out this site: http://www.arsenews.co.nr
Let’s wait and see how this one pans out. He has had some injury problems, which may explain the shorter contract as we might want to see if he can overcome them first. However, that may not be the case at all and he may in fact be fit and go straight into the first team squad.
I know some people are dead set against this guy, but if Wenger knows him and believes he has what it takes to play for Arsenal, why not give him a chance? He’s not going to cost very much and he adds some more depth to the squad. You never know, he might even turn out to be surprisingly good like some other unknown players Wenger has bought in the past.
Im confused. His contract is up so why would a compensation deal be holdin anything up? No contract therefore an interested club doest have to pay his old club fook all. Seems like this is the player blowing smoke up his own ass to me.
Maybe this guy is Denilson´s replacement and Denilson will be Gilberto´s replacement. So the Brazilian will be a DM while Bischoff adds depth as an attacking option. I can´t see why we are buying this guy, but Wenger is a lot smarter than me when it comes to these things. If he makes it, it would surely be one of his greatest masterpieces.
I still believe this whole story is a load of bollocks. I simply cannot see wenger going for a young player who already has some serious injury issues. Muscular injuries are difficult to treat and they have a high tendency to reappear. Just look at rosicky and van persie.
who else do you lot think we’lll be getting then??? i think a decent and experienced centre mid, and then a striker if adebayor leaves. maybe even another attacking midfielder. what do you lot think.
denilson and fabregas would be a great partner ship in midfield, they both are like box to box midfilders who can play attacking and can make some strong tackles.
What ever happened to the Bosman ruling? He’s out of contract. Surely Werder have no claim to compensation.
if a player under 24 signs for antoher club on a free transfer, the original club will get a compensation fee. Thats how Crystal Palace got fucked by tottenham…
Yes, but his contract ran out and now we are making contact. He is no longer at a football club, so there isn’t a football club for us to compensate?
I still think this story is bollocks, the traditional ye olde “player/agent mentions arsenal, ends up somewhere like spurs” that we’ve seen so, so many times.

I thought you only had to pay compensation when it was between 2 clubs in the same league???
Spike – He was only injured for just a few months at the end of last season.
Knowledge is important, because otherwise you would take that view. At least give him a chance before you judge him.
The rule applys to any club that is out of contract.
J, does that mean we get compensation for Flamini?
Sorry, just saw BooMer’s post!
This is strange, its the first I’ve heard of having compensation for players out of contract. Is there another example where this has taken place? Did we pay compensation to marsielle for Flamini?Do AC Milan owe us compensation?
I believe the rule is Under 24, Flamini is 24.. but he is approaching 25.. so will not count.
We did pay compensation to Marseille for Flamini
Yes, we paid about £640,000 for Flamini.
oh great another drawn out transfer zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. will we have to wait until the the new financial year in germany? or like Dave said the cloud formation to change into a pie shape?
pffffft.
I think its like a year and half’s wages or something like that. Anyway i heared he will take Walcott’s 32 :).
its looks like wenger has found another flamini lol. free transfer freom a top european club!
Thanks for clearing the transfer rules up guys!
I think Wenger is right, sooner rather than later the transfer system will be abolished completly!
LOL i just saw this fonte video on ATVO.. he says his favourrite game is Call of Duty 4 – the best game apparently.. and he loves chocolate.. Also, BArazite has a short temper if you do something to him.. lol
Eh, im willing to give him a chance (not that i have much choice), but Flamini was relavtivly unknown and unexperianced when he joined and he made it… and fked off but thats beside the point. Wenger knows lots and lots of players, if hes signing Bischoff its cuz he knows hes a good player. Plus we’ll probably pay next to nothing for him, even with compensation, it probably wont be more than 400-700k.
FIFA and UEFA have put a place regulation system under which players under the age of 23 leaving on a bosman the club that formed them have to compensate that club for the cost of forming them.
Amaury despite being a bosman has still to compensate the club for his formation. Obviously Arsenal are the one who will play the fee. The only question is how come his team are entitled of compensation for formation when he was taken from a French club in the first place.
Flamini was not relatively unknown in France. He was already a U19 and U21 international, so hardly unknown. It was Marseille general manager who fucked up his papers and let us have him free. In France the law stated that a young player has to sign his first professional contract with the club who has formed him if offered one prior to some date. In the case of Flamini, they ‘forgot’ to offer him a contract because they wanted him to stay on trainee term (low pay). French clubs avoid stealing each other players as it would quickly turn ugly and nobody except agents would win. They did not realize that Flamini could go abroad. Because they never offered him the contract, he was able to leave to join Arsenal. The same loophole was exploited by Wenger years before to get Nicolas Anelka, Jeremy Aliadiere and David Grondin.
Arsene Wenger tried the same thing with Fran Merida, but Barcelona had wised up (they had just lost Fabregas) and tried to offer him a contract. In order to not being served the contract offer and to be free to join Arsenal, Merida disappeared the last months of his season and tried to get re-registered in an amateur club. (He physically moved and his family pretended not to know where he was). Barcelona sued him and his agent. Earlier in the season he lost his trial and the decision was that he and his agent owed 2 Millions Euros to Barcelona. He does not have to pay that amount until the final decision on his appeal is taken. Arsenal are lilely to have to fork that amount.
How do you know all that about Merida Valentin? Very interesting!
Valentin – thank you very much for point that all out mate. Very helpful.
i think the one year deal is the best thin coz our squad is thin and if needed he can be played in games… the one year deal is good coz if he does not impress or is not fit enough we wont be havin a player on our hands who wil waste our resources and hence it will also be easier for one of our youngsters to come into the first team..
wenger may think that none of the youngsters r ready to start this season in the first team that’s why just the one year deal… next season when anyone is more prepared to step up there wont be anyone blockin his wasy….
Mr Valentin you seem to have some inside info. How about enlightening us on some future arsenal business?????????
well said Valentin,
this case shows the lack of logic in the silly rules that are in place,
personally I think if a player leaves the club that they were trained at before the age of twenty or so, then compensation is a good idea
however it is crazy that 22/23 year olds can’t leave on frees from clubs that they weren’t even trained at
Blatter thinks Ronaldo is a slave, nonsense, this chap is more of a slave as he should be able to walk away for free
J;
I’m being a bit sarcastic about Bischoff fella. I am only being like this as it would hardly send out a message of intent if this was to be one of our major signings and not just a small time punt.
Arsenal to rival Liverpool for Gareth Barry and also had a 19 million pound bid rejected for Andrei Arshavin. They hope to conclude a deal for yuri zhirov on monday.
I seriously doubt Arsenal would splash £19 million on Arse shavings. Or the kind of money Villa want for Barry.
Zhirkov would be an interesting signing.
marca you talk shit again.
Last weekend you said you had insider information on a monday 3pm press conference to announce Arshavins signing.
You come out with rubbish like this every week!
I imagine he’s just trying to emulate the Spanish tabloid marca.
Zhirkov one the left would be amazing. A real winger! Who also has some def. qualities.
On the Bischoff-case, I have no worries. Why should i distrust Wenger? He’s no bullshit manager that makes dozens of useless transfers. If Wenger wants him, he’s a good player. That’s just facts :D
i dont think he is replacement for flamaini he has not had enough first team football, think about arsenal fans he has only played in reserved why wenger offer him four deal until can why he does in reserves monitor his progess for year if he up stated then he offers a legthy contract he on year trail in way,the play as been injured a while and needs a get back to full fitness and thats another issue. i think wenger will want to keel gilberto for a year cant see him throwing song in the deep or he will amother midfielder.
I am from the spanish tabloid magazine marca n these comes from sources close to the club.
Ahh, so it is complete made up b*llocks then!
Kerrea Gilbert made his debut for Leicester today against hinckley
i want kerreea to be a arsenal player, but it seems to late.
Report on his debut

As an avid reader of l’Equipe a French daily sport newspaper and follower of Pierre Menes (blog, TV show), all the shananigans of the Flamini departure were well known. I even think that the OM general manager was even removed from his role for that clear show of incompetence. They could even has lost Nasri at the same time, as Nasri was in the same situation, but he decided against joining us at the time. With hindsight, it was a good move on his part, as I am not sure he would have gained as much experience he did. On the other hand, we may not have bought Hleb.
Regarding Fran Merida, it was published on the same day a very big sport affair and nobody really picked it up.
By the way I was wrong as I said it was 2 Millions Euros. It was 3.2 Millions Euros.
Check his wikipedia page:

The two bit of info that I have is that money is much tighter than people have been led to believe and Arsene Wenger is trying to convince Adebayor to stay if he kept his ego and financial demand in check.
In most club, the transfer budget and the wage bill are kept separate, but at Arsenal Arsene Wenger is given a yearly budget and he is supposed to stick within. Last year, he was given 90 Millions, with a wage bill equal to 87 millions, that is the reason why Arsenal ended up with a positive transfer line.
This year, his budget has increased to 100 millions, however the wage bill (Clichy, Sagna have both signed new deals and Randall, Lansbury, Gibbs have signe their first professional contract) also increasing. In reality with the Nasri deal done on instalment and Ramsey costing 5 millions upfront he can bring one more player or he has to sell somebody preferably Hleb. That is the reason why he wanted Yaya Toure against Hleb plus 8 millions.
The good news is that next year, when Highbury is finally sold, his budget is likely to really explode. In which case, we will be able to not only keep our best player, but also purchase some when they are at their peak rather than at their infancy.
when is he[Amaury Bischoff],going to be an arsenal player. hope is a good player, well i believe in wenger. thanks J.Sanderson for given us the latest news concerning arsenal
