Young Guns Is Six Months Old Today – Big Thank You

Young Guns celebrates a special anniversary today, as it’s six months since the website’s very first article, and i would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their continued support.

Although the very first version of the blog was forced to close, since coming back under the name “Young Guns” we have gone from strength to strength achieving huge success. During the first month we were not registered on any news syndicates such as NewsNow or Gooner News, but testament to our hard work, and your fantastic support, we are steadily establishing ourselves amongst a competitive array of Arsenal blogs.

Last week we notched up 2.5 million individual hits, and inside six months that is truly sensational. But one of the main features of Young Guns is not about the hits, amount of comments, or success, (although that is nice) but offering a fresh and interesting perspective on Arsenal.

Sure we have made the odd mistake along the way, but with your insightful and helpful comments we firmly believe we have established a winning formula. The comment sections are often a fantastic read on there own, with a whole bunch of different characters sharing their views. From first time commenter’s, or our resident joker “Clacko The Gooner“, and of course to “Me” who’s insights often provoke debate.

So today is all about saying a massive thank you to everybody so far, and we look forward to your continued support in the future. If you have any ideas, suggestions, concerns or anything else, you are more than welcome to leave a comment below, or e-mail us.

Keep it up, you are doing a great job. I would like to take the liberty of making a small suggestion. If possible, it would be great is you could change the colour of the page from black to some other colour, its a bit uncomfortable to read sometimes!

Hello J, a Gooner from Finland here. Just came to say that along with Arseblog this is the only Arsenal blog that I visit every single day (actually quite many times a day). I love this site cause it gives a different kind of view and it’s always nice to read what is going on with our superb youngsters. Young -guns bases the articles on facts (at least most times) and not rumours and that is the best thing about this blog. Keep up the great work, it is very much appreciated.

Happy Anniversary! This site’s one of my favourite’s now. I’d much rather hear about what is actually happening at the club than non factual speculation that usually suggests that Arsenal is in crisis. With so much emphasis on the Youth System at Arsenal I can only see you getting more popular – Keep up the good work!

You find exclusives before they are reported elsewhere.

Being copied and quoted is a sign of your success.

    Jamie,
I’m gonna tell you some truths.
One distinct thing that makes “young guns” stand out is the dark background. It is just different. Most other sites use the white background and after a while it becomes boring. If you change anything else, “never” change that. There is a feeling of quiet and solitude with the colour and I think that’s just perfect!

Another point is, “do not” feel under pressure to create news when there is none (particularly about transfers). There are bound to be mistakes, but they can only make you better. You are on the right track, particularly in getting photos and news out of the UK. But remember, “some” individual would go as far as possible to see you fall. You will get questions from bloggers who are desperate for news and developments about transfers and ask you what you think. “Silence” is not a crime! It is better if you are silent than raise anyone’s hopes; then they come back here and start a smear-campaign.

    One other suggestion I have.
On this screen, there are there are free columns one on the left and one on the right. Can you do the following:
If possible, create about 2 inches of more space on either side and fit in a zoomed in picture of Arsene Wenger (a thoughtful picture) and possibly a picture of Cesc Fabregas face when he scored that goal against Real Madrid. These tow pictures would look nice if they disappear and re-appear after 15 seconds in to the black background, coming down as bloggers scroll down the comments section. I tell you, this site will become even better.
If its only six months and its this good, then my advice is to add to the site (not too much) but don’t remove anything.

“i think we should buy arshavin and aguero and david villa cos i have them on pro-evo’-type blogs.” (Owen said this)

“well done mate… not only is your a top blog but you seem to attract a better group of posters than others… you have a much more clever group of supporters here” (Good to be a Goonah said this)

To what Owen was referring to…i HATE so-called Gooners saying things like this. It really makes my blood boil! Thanks for pointing this out Owen. You dont really get them here. A huge positive IMO.

I 100% agree that the gooners on this blog are “A much more clever group of supporters” than any other Arsenal blog. They seem like “genuine gooners”. Compare that to a blog like Le-Grove (which incidently is a good blog to just read the comments on and have a laugh – sometimes. But it’s like if u say anything “GOOD” about the club there then their “regulars” all get on ur case. It hasnt ever happened to me before but i’ve seen it happen on a few occasions to some poor souls.

J – Congratulations on the successful 6 months mate and long may u prosper…this blog is the Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal blogs IMO….second to NONE! Cheers.

“Me” ur views are hardly controversial but rather limp and nonsensical. To ascribe merit to ur mindless opinions by way of inducing debate is quite simply ridiculous. I would rather blame boredom and the apparent impulsive tendencies of the blogs’ readers.

Although one is slightly disappointed that Mr Sanderson acknowledges you (“Me”), it is a testament to his continued selfless service to this blog that a any offence taken against him would be unfair.

I repeat “Me” your views are redundant, unintelligent…Your brazen attempt at seeking attention is plainly pathetic. I am just pissed that you are succeeding.
