Arsenal winger Amaury Bischoff has told the club’s official magazine that he is closing in on a return to full fitness, and has set a ‘6-7 week’ time scale for his debut – which he has confirmed will be for the Reserves.
After a pelvic and double groin operation Arsène Wenger described Bischoff’s signing as a ‘gamble’, but the 21-year-old Frenchman admits he is now close to full fitness and ready to repay Wenger for bringing him to London.
” I`ve just started running for the first time in my recovery and I feel good, I have no problems now. I`ve been working hard with the very good physio team here and I think I am six or seven weeks away from a return to action ”
Amaury is open to his participation in the first-team, but the youngster confirms his intentions to get a good run out for Neil Banfield’s Reserves before pushing for an inclusion in Wenger’s side.
“I want to play for Arsenal’s first team and not for the Reserves. But I`m realistic and know I`ll start at that level because I`ve not played for a while, but my aim is to play for the first team in any competition. “
Arsène says he has followed the winger since his Strasbourg days, and although he played in the same French youth team as Karim Benzema, he switched his attentions to his mothers home land of Portugal in 2007. At international level he only has two training camps under his belt, but boasts that the Under 21 coach makes regulars contact to check on his rehabilitation.
Bischoff met Arsenal officials in Germany in August, and proudly admitted joining the Gunners is a ‘dream’. Many are yet to see what the midfielder plays like, so he endeavors to fill the fans in on what they can expect.
“I`m a creative player – not so much a dribbler but more in terms of passing, one-touch and two-touch. I`ve got good vision and think I can fit well into the way Arsenal play. Their quick passing style is one that I like and I watched the team a lot last season.”
He will now continue his gym work to make sure that not only is he free of injury, but also in tip-top condition ahead of his proposed debut against West Ham’s Reserves in late October.
Article By – J.Sanderson – With Thanks To Vital Arsenal
[irony]Wow, I’m so exited about this guy![/irony]
Not so much a dribbler? Well that’s a shame ‘cos we don’t have many of them in the squad to offer a different dimension apart from Walcott who barely ever actually does it and Eboue who doesn’t get anywhere when he does dribble.
This kid better be gd
I can’t wait to see this guy. He’s going to be a diamond. I hear he used to fight bears in France and pretend they were Teddy Sheringham.
Anton – Haha.
From the interview it sounded like Wenger has done plently of reasearch on this guy.
Nice one JS this is good to hear as i was wondering what had happened to Amaury but good to see he’ll be back soon. keep up the good work bro
anyway JS are there any out and out wingers in our reserves i mean of proper not people playing upfront and wide i mean just wingers
Look forward to seein him and hopefully he can get a good run in the Carling Cup.
Is Coquelin destined to be a reserves player ? (no 1st team squad # yet right?)
At least he showed a little bite in DCM, any word on him ?
Is he still injured ?
Alex – Coquelin will play the season in the Reserves but he does have a shirt number – 35.
He is fully fit and played in a training game last week, and is now with France for a training camp.
He was a no risk signing, and from what I gather, if the gamble works out, it could be a steal. Playing for the France youth is no mean achievement, so to that extent he’s got more pedigree than most Gooners have probably realised.
Here’s hoping his injury clears up – wouldn’t it be a surprise if he became the answer to our midfield problems.
Good news on him nearing full fitness. But he seems too bulky from pictures i have seen of him to be a good winger. Is that because he is unfit or just how his physique is?
Probably be better served playing centrally in a holding role, with his passing ability and lack of a dribble.
JS did you hear about the bear wrestling in France?
Pingback: Ambitious Bischoff 6 Weeks Away From Arsenal Debut : insuranceslowprices
I can’t say i did Nick, but I’m sure you are well informed.
Just what we need, a non dribbling winger, perma – injured faux French winger. I’m sure he’s a nice lad but i’ll be suprised if he gets near to Alberto Mendez’s appearences for The Arsenal.
What a waste of time, particularly when we’ve already got decent young wingers such as Merida, Simpson and Pedro.
JS, why do u call Amauri winger? Is not he a DM?
Because he plays mainly as a right winger. In the article he says he is creative, so why would he be a DM?
good atricle as always J, i hope he is given a fair chance and not written off before he even plays, J do you think he may play in the carling cup?
At 21 isn’t he too old to be a younggun?? Well, good post all the same and I await the next 6 to 7 weeks with glee :D
Its strange, I always thought he was a tough tackling DM. Maybe that was just in my dreams!!
Clichy has to be the best dribbler in our team!!! He should wear a bib!
I can’t wait to see this guy. He’s going to be a diamond. I hear he used to fight bears in France and pretend they were Teddy Sheringham.

^^^ this made me LOL.
6/7 is a bit hopeful knowing our physio department.
is there any video on this guy apart from the one on youtube based on all young portuguese stars which is about 5seconds long?
HAS ANYONE SEEN HIM PLAY??
WHAT PLAYER WOULD U COMPARE HIM TO??
IS HE A ROSCIKY TYPE PLAYER??
Looking forward to seeing him but i aint expecting much. Hes missed vital years in his development, so ive got alot of doubts. Even if he does make it, i cant help but feel he’ll be another injury stricken wonder figure, who does great for 4 games, misses the rest of the season, spends the next season trying to find form again, find it, gets injured.
If he is creative then he can be a DM- though a deep lying playmaker. Like Alonso. He is a central midfielder and has played in the aforementioned role as DM too.

Nick P: lol…………………………………*still lmfao*……………hehe XD
Ive seen him play and he is more of Hleb and Nasri type than a walcott once he gets back to a good level which i hope he can it wil look like hes been with us forever
ahassan100 – Not really.
He is a similar to Fabregas in the fact that he doesnt have much pace but has good vision and moves the ball very well. He is great on set peices and has a decent shooting range.
Never played a DM, always in offensive roles.
Wonderful…He’s coming back to play with the reserves in 6-7 weeks while we lack depth in the first team. Nice work Le boss! On top on that, the boss feels reluctant to add to the squad.
I’m shitting my pant with excitement. duh
I’m pretty sure he’s played just in front of the back four for his country or the reserves but anyway he seems more of central midfielder and as he came on for Diego for his debut he probably played in that role. I agree he is similar to Cesc and but can play on the wings.
hey, does any body no where carlos vela is, i thought he looked readfy for 1st team football (from what weve seen off him) but he hasnt even been on the bench. i checked arsenal.com and his not on the injured list
How tall is Bischoff?
He is around 1.76, 1.78cm
randall – He has been away with Mexico over international break and was given extra time to recover.
i think you mean vela
Yes, haha, but the person asking the question had the username Randall.
You know what? Supposed “fans” who write to Arsenal blogs simply to describe what has become actually LOATHING for Arsene because he won’t or can’t spend like Chelsea or Man U don’t even belong in rational discussions of the club.
Either go support a club that spends like drunken sailors — Leeds should do you — or enroll in an anger management class.
In blog after blog, we now find fair-weather supporters spewing out raw anger because we don’t spend 30 million on a name you’ve heard or seen in the red-tops.
Most of these clowns haven’t seen players being discussed, certainly don’t know how to scout as a professional and if they start screaming “Sign Alonso!” or “Sign Veloso!” — it’s primarily because they’ve seen a story about the guy or noticed that he’s expensive.
The MOST unbelievable thing about this is that if you look at Wenger’s sides through his tenure at Arsenal, you see dozens of good and even great players who had little notoriety and didn’t cost much.
It’s amazing what fans DON’T know — but claim to.
Remember all the stick directed at Alex Song? That was really brilliant. It turned out all the naysayers and boo boys not only were classless, but WRONG. It turns out that Song now lis considered a key component of future Arsenal success.
What on earth is the point of making fun of a guy like Bischoff when you haven’t seen him, and frankly don’t have a clue what his potential might be when he’s fit?
It’s just stupidity, in my opinion, to laugh sarcastically at Arsene Wenger. No one is perfect, but it’s hard to imagine anyone coming to the club when AW did and achieving this current level of success and expectations.
So given Wenger’s track record, the people who are so emotionally ANGRY with him now — for not spending giant amounts of money, pure and simple — are just baying at the moon.
Go get a Chavs strip. They’ll spend for you.
But in the meantime, why not leave our Gunners blogs alone. Keep your useless snide remarks to yourself.
Who needs this crap?
Most of us are here because we love the game and we love the club. On this blog, we enjoy exchanging information and opinions on Arsenal prospects.
Doesn’t excite you?
Fine…then GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Hmm, I never thought he was a winger. Always thought he was a DM. Interesting.
I have seen Bischoff in Bremen. He is a very good player, a great
talent. Sorry, but not good enough for Arsenal’s first team!
Well said Steve.

i can’t wait to see what he is like could turn out to be a bargain. And bendtner is never good enough for arsenal he has a touch of a drunk elephant and his movement is shocking. Surely vela a better option
wow. so he may be the one that relieves fabregas
“i can’t wait to see what he is like could turn out to be a bargain. And bendtner is never good enough for arsenal he has a touch of a drunk elephant and his movement is shocking. Surely vela a better option”
Thats harsh on Bendtner considering his age. Ive said this before and ill say it again, think back to Adebayor when we first signed him, what people were saying about him and where he is now. Bendtner can make a kind of improvement between now and 23 years old.
However, i dont like Adebayor and Bentner together and id much prefere Vela to partner Adebayor. Plus he needs chances, plus hes not worse than Bendtner, there is subtstanial evidance from his international appearences, to his appearences in spain to his pre-season with us that backs that up, so it cant hurt to play him. On that level i agree with you Randall86

Jay, do you know why Vela isn’t playing? I mean the kid was so hyped up I thought he would have played atleast a game by now.
J.Sanderson with the transfer window closing, what over youngsters do you expect to go out on loan and to what level
a similar kind of improvement*
He could be our DM- we need a passer and a hustler
passer and hussler that is :-)
no, hustler is correct…
i just heard this news, wenger about to sign jonathan de guzman. apparently wenger failed to convince inler to join arsenal, so his next target 12m rated de guzman. anyone can confirm its true?
California Steve, I couldn’t agree more. I see the same crap (often from the same people) all over the Arsenal blogosphere. It’s downright depressing how short-term and short-sighted so many of our so-called supporters are! Even on sensible blogs like this one and A Cultured Left Foot! Not sure where all the hostility is coming from. Yes we’d all like to see a little squad strengthening, but as the Boss says, we only lost 3 games last season, and we just need to make a similar improvement and we’ll be fighting for the title again.
Bendtner is going to be fine. The kid scores goals. For his first start for us last year off the bench most of the time, he still knocked in 9 goals. And a couple were winners. He needs time but he’ll deliver. He’s already well established on his national team. But he is a different player for sure then Vela. It’s nice to have a collection of different strikers.
So de Guzman?? Anything on this besides the Sun?
Go Gunners!
Anton – That’s not irony, that’s sarcasm, widely considered to be the lowest form of houmour.
I too could not agree with Steve more. What Arsene Wenger has achieved here has been amazing. Who wanted Carrick when we signed a young player called Fabregas? Arsene picks players that are right for the club not right for the media.
JS do you think Henri Lansbury could fill the midfiled position by the end of the season?
“JS do you think Henri Lansbury could fill the midfiled position by the end of the season?”
Sorry, i know this question wasnt directed at me but for what its worth id just like to put in my opinion which is a probably not as far as this season is concerned.
Emmanuel-Thomas could thou :P (again, probably not but im a massive fan of that kid.)
any likelihood that more players will be sent to Salamanca before the 1 september deadline?
Vela isnt playing because he is nowhere near ready to play in the physical prem league(which was always to be expected, not ready until about 6 months)Just like when he failed to cope with Huddersfield in pre season. Will be good but needs a lot of time.
