Arsenal V Boreham Wood – Friendly – Squad Announced

Arsenal have announced the travelling party for tomorrow’s Reserves friendly against Boreham Wood, with the club keeping their promise of including Academy players.

The fixture is Arsenal’s way of saying ‘thank you’ for allowing the Ladies team use of Meadow Park, and although the encounter has been crossed off the Gunners pre-season plans in recent years, the management have decided it will prove a welcome addition to the calender.

Vito Mannone and Jay Simpson are included from the first team, however all but two players have been on duty for Wenger’s side over the summer. Fran Mérida (Holiday) and Havard Nordtveit (Ankle) have both been missing in recent weeks, but they return and are expected to start.

Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas miss out following the Amsterdam Tournament, but will be available come the start of the Under 18 season.

The game is live on ArsenalTV, ArsenalTV Online and Setanta Sports. A full Match Preview will be available tomorrow afternoon, with a report immediately after Full Time.

The Squad In Full

1. Vito Mannone
2. Paul Rodgers
3. Gavin Hoyte

    Nice looking team!
In the article you say that Wilshere will be available for the u18’s come the start of the season.
Do you not expect him to be more involved with the first team then?
I am pretty sure that he will get CC games at least.

It was more the Under 18’s start around August 25th they should be back by then rather than they will be involved.

Although i would expect him to play Reserves games and such.

I fully expect Jay Simpson to hit the on at least one occasion tomorrow night.Hes looked super sharp and his work ethic has been top class other players should follow his example in this department.

Good to see Fran back to the team, and I hope he gets a run in the carling cup this season and not loaned out again

JS – surely you’re going to do a preview for the FC Twente match tommorrow I already want to talk about it today so I’ll leave some comments here if you don’t mind :P

First of all here’s the team…

    Almunia
    Sagna Touré Gallas Clichy
    Eboué Fabregas Denilson Walcott
    van Persie Adebayor

Although I’d rather see Ramsey or Wilshere play on rhe right wing, I have to accept the fact that Wenger will not rush them yet. I hope Ramsey, Wilshere and Vela will be the substitutes for Fabregas, Eboué and van Persie. Depending on the game I think if were comfortably in front he’ll let Vela use his speed and if we’re not doing well he will use Bendtner to force something.

I think we will with a comfortable 2-0, I expect Adebayor and Walcott to score the goals. Stars of the game ofcourse Adebayor, Walcott. But also Clichy, Denilson and van Persie.

So would I be right in thinking a starting lineup of
    ______________Vito
    Hoyte___Roders___Nordveit__Steer/Ogogo
    _______Merida_Dunne__Lansbury
    ___Barazite__Simpson__Fonte

    Or maybe Frimp for Dunne?

I wonder why Merida was given a longer holiday than Gibbs. They both played in the same summer tournament as each other.

Mouhsin – Nope, that’s a first-team game mate, try and keep to youth matters.

goonerguy – Yep i did, but i felt i was honest in his good points and bad ones too.

J: We can still discuss the first team here though right? Even if you don’t blog about it? Moush: I suspect Toure and Fabregas will be subbed early enough.

I’m too busy to watch the match, do arse.com do a higlights reel? I’d like to see how Merida does.

Also, in regards to Bischoff, is he currently injured or just lacking match fitness? Details always seem quite hazy.

just some random information i live locally to selhurst park and i see Rui Fonte there often with his brother Jose and i questioned him on his future as he turned up to the game in a car with several palace youth players such as James Dayton and i asked him is he going to join palace, his response was i dont know ill have to see where my future lies! I think rui is very good and maybe a loan move to palace would do him good and is he on loan at arsenal or have arsenal signed him now
