Liam Brady and David Court are finalising preparations ahead of next weeks Cannes Tournament, with the FA missing out on the services of Jack Wilshere, Emmanuel Frimpong, Sam Byles and Luke Freeman because of the competition.
The quadruple had all been selected by England Under 17 coach John Peacock for the forthcoming FA International Tournament, but Arsenal requested for them to be replaced due to the planned work out in France.
Frimpong, Byles and Freeman all featured in the Under 18’s on Saturday, with Luke bagging a brace. They will all travel with the squad and are expected to start, whilst Jack Wilshere will continue to be rested.
The team should be similar to that which won the Atlanta Cup earlier in the summer, but Oğuzhan Özyakup – who made his debut at the weekend – will be included. PSG are among the sides which Gatting’s boys will face, they boast striker Jimmy Kamghain – a player currently being tracked by the Gunners.
In other news, Francis Coquelin and Gilles Sunu were both present at Clairefontaine yesterday, as French Under 17 manager Francis Smerecki put the duo through their paces ahead important UEFA Qualifying fixtures. A 33 man squad has been gathered, which will under take 5 days of intense training before the final 25 man team is named.

Sweet post J.
Does this mean then that Jack will be left out of the squad for the game this evening? Also do you expect him to play much this season in the league given that Nasri is looking a bit dodge with injuries?
why is Jack being rested so much. I can understand not playing twice a week but he has not played for weeks now. Has something more serious happened to him?
Yo J, what happened to that greek kid we had on trial, Nikos Karelis?
I can’t understand Jack’s protection either, yes he looked a little tired against Sevilla but he hasn’t played since. I thought we needed him on Saturday against Fulham, and am hoping he gets some playing time this evening.
If they are gonna rest him for this tournament that hasn’t started yet then i am guessin that we won’t see him until after it. I can understand him being protected cos he is young but he seems more than able to cope with it, especially after the way he played against teams like Real Madrid etc. He is one hell of an impact sub to have but we ent using him.
Will coquelin be a regular for the reserves this season he looked great in the barnet game. And shame bout jack was hoping he might get a run out tonight
I can’t understand why Cedric Evina is still waiting for his first French call up. If he’s good enough to play for Arsenal u18s he should be good enough for France u17s IMO.
Sam Byles can kiss his England career at youth level goodbye because Keanu Marsh Brown has his place at right back now
is keanu supposed to be good?
Yes he is the best prospect i have seen at right back in the England youth set up in a long time, the funny thing is he used to be at Arsenal as a kid but they let him go so he joined Fulham instead and has not looked back since
Jack can be on the bench yep, but i don’t expect him to play much football, Wenger said it is because we are low on numbers otherwise he would e left out.
Kent Paul – Byles was actually selected ahead of Keanu in the England squad.
That is because Keanu played in the Nordic Tournament and the U17’s coaches want to give all of the players a chance and seeing as Byles is not in this squad for whatever reason it gives Keanu a chance to nail down the right back spot which in time injury and form permmiting he will do anyway because he is alot better right back and football player than Sam Byles IMO
hey kent paul.
have you got shares in marsh brown or what?
he was never gonna be a gooner! his family saw to that!
no claaaaas mate
i will wager 2000 that he wont ever play at senior level.
after all this is the pinnacle isn’t it.
tell us straight why u have it in for byles.
i read all your blogs mate.
dont worry about sam there are 100 s of kids out there better than brown.
its just that they dont pull a card
capiche
Ah, bollocks. I was looking forward to seeing how they could do with the U17s. There again, in development terms they’ll learn more with us at the Cannes tournament, so its a good thing in the end.
Maverik – What makes you think this thing in France will be better experience than playing international football?
