FC Zwolle Sign Arsenal Youngster van Den Berg On Loan

FC Zwolle have confirmed this afternoon they have signed Arsenal winger Vincent van den Berg on loan, with view to a permanent deal next summer.

The Gunners have been desperate to offload Vincent all summer following two poor seasons since his transfer from SC Heerenveen, and after a month long trial with Zwolle, they have opted to snap up the Dutch Under 19 International.

Vincent began last season in the Reserve team, but was loaned to The Go Ahead Eagles for the second part of the campaign. Former player Marc Overmars helped over look van den Berg’s development whilst back in his home land, but injuries and a lack of chances prevented his best form from showing through.

He faced an embarrassing return to Arsenal this summer, but Zwolle boss Jan Everse felt the youngster was ‘unlucky’ in both London and Holland, and was keen to offer him a way back with a trial.

After featuring in one friendly, Vincent sustained a foot problem and it seemed his transfer would be off. However, Everse waited for him to recover and get back to full fitness before agreeing a season long loan deal for the Dutchman.

Reports close to the transfer suggest a fixed price has been fitted to the contract, allowing the Eerste Divisie outfit the chance to take Vincent permanently should they wish in 12 months.

Not every player is going to make it at a top club like Arsenal I suppose, but I wish him well and hope that he can get past his injury problems and make a career for himself in football at a level he can cope with.

From what I’ve heard of him, he’s shown mere glimpses of his potential so I think a loan move is best for both parties.

    Great article. :)

They are not official, it was a rough guide sent to UEFA i believe it just yet.

As for Vincent, shame things have not worked out for him, who knows maybe he can play a blinder and work his way back.

Am I the only to realise that 23 has not been taken. We are looking for an experienced midfield player. We have had the former england captain train with us – anyone follwing th chain of thought?

Ahh well, Van Den Berg was a promising player who never managed to let his full potential consistantly show throu. I remember him having some very good games but many many more iddiferent ones. If Rui Fonte aint careful he will follow the same way and Sporting have an incredibly strong youth set-up so if he cnt get anythin with us then i doubt he can get anything with them.

James, no, no, no. If ur talkin about Beckham, then no. Wenger wont sign Beckham, we dotn need Beckham and personally i dotn want Beckham. If it was a choice between Beckham and no1 id pick no1. Fuck it…if it was a choice between Beckham and Gordon Brown id pick Brown, he’d cost less than Beckham, demand less wages, and warm the bench far better for some propa players to sit on. In fact i recon Brown would genuinly appreciate the position of bench warmer, anyone following the chain of thought?

BTW, when does the U17 champs start? Lookin forward to them…

i think beckham would be a great player to bring through a few of the youngsters. He has the right attitude, would bring a much needed big name boost to the club. i hated teh man a few years ago but now think he may do well in teh red and white

Personally I Believe Michael Johnson From Man City Would Be A Good Signing, However With The ^Performances Of Denilson In Pre-Season He Needs To Be Given First Team Opportunities.,

denilson has done nothing that a defensive mid would do. he has ran around, spread play but he doesnt make those attack stopping tackles or shot stoping blocks.

denilson has dictated play well but he hasn’t been a DM i think veloso would be the best buy because he can play in defense would rather see him at arsenal than de la red or alonso but i trust wenger will make a good decision and bring in somone to fit in the team
