Wilshere's Stunning Entrance Embarrasses Real Madrid

Arsène Wenger gave Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Carlos Vela late appearances this afternoon as Arsenal beat Real Madrid 1-0, but missed out on retaining the Emirates Cup.

Wenger chose to bring in the more experienced faces to face the La Liga Champions, but allowed Wilshere, Lansbury, Randall, Ramsey and Vela places on the bench.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s second half penalty secured the victory, but the late impact from Wilshere was particularly impressive. The 16 year old – who received yet more praise from Wenger yesterday – played the final 15 minutes, and once more left an impression on the manager, and fans.

After replacing Samir Nasri on the left, he preceded to try and tare apart the Spanish outfit. Two neat touches signalled his intent, before a stunning skill saw him embarrass Javi Garica, before a deft cross was smashed into the side netting by Bendtner.

His confidence and willingness to attack even the biggest of names was re-markable. He would then try and orchestrate the second, after an inch perfect through ball nearly released Vela. Jack finished the 90 minutes by linking up with Bendtner, but the big Dane couldn’t release the fleet-footed youngster.

Arsenal may have missed out on the Cup, but the revelation of the tournament was surly Wilshere. Both fixtures have allowed him to learn, and more importantly, blossom.

Just how long can we keep saying ‘He Is Too Young’.

Haha we can’t keep saying it JS and Ramsey is ready too. Even Le Coq will be ready… I prefer Wilshere as a subsitute on the right wing instead of that useless Eboué, I can’t say it enough!!

Good match, Adebayor proved all the doubters wrong. Hardly done anything wrong. People were bitching about his first touch. I hope Diaby needs matches too cause I though Denilson played much better than him.

I would not take too much into starting Jack on the basis of pre-season.

We all know what pre-season is for, lets see how he does in the Carling Cup this season and hope for the best fr him.

Wilshere’s pre-season form will make it difficult for him to be in the Reserves now. It will seem like a step-down, when infact its a step up.

I duno. Hes got pace, great passing, great awereness, skillful on the ball, good movement, gets assists and goals and plays with confidance despite hes age and inexperiance. Carling Cup, ill change my vote from a hopefully to a definatly. First team? Hopefully.

I still think Wenger is right to say we have to “respect his development” and not stick him right in at the deep end. But still, you feel he could do a bit of a Fabregas. Carling Cup and possibly a couple of league appearences this seasonl first team if he gets throu those and impresses next season.

We’ll see. Well doen to Theo who played brilliantly again today. Whole team impressed overall, Nasri much better, Diaby was the only that atall disapointed (except perhaps Bendtner althou he didnt have much time), good player but needs to work on the mental aspects of the game. At the hes too indesicive and takes too long to pick a pass.

Well done to the lads and well done Hamburg, the only side i was happy with winning other than us. Good team and im a massive fan of Mohammed Zidan.

Overall it was a good game. The van Persie – Adebayor link was very effective and is probably our best partnership up front. Wilshire came in and again showed glimpses of his potential.

Worrying signs however lies with Diaby. I’m not convinced that he can play the holding role. Sure he has some good qualities, but his distribution at times leaves more to be desired while his tackling is just awful. Expect many red cards if he plays DM for us this year. Look at his tackle on Sneijder! Song, huury back please.

it seems without hleb we’re lacking a bit of balance. it shud sort itself out but we were playing slick last pre season. Ramsey not yet ready and we really need a DM. Diaby and Denilson gave too much space and didn’t know when too attack or defend at times.

Ok, he proved everything I’ve said in the past 24 hours wrong. He’s good. Whoever said he deserves to be closer to the first xi than Eboue is right. Wow, just wow. He skinned Garcia with such poise, kinda reminded me of Pires in his prime.

Diaby looks like a Bolton player. Feeling disgusted with myself in that I’m thinking to myself, maybe that’s not a bad thing. Certainly had a terrific first half and lost his composure in the second.

If Adebayor plays like this every game, I’ll forgive and forget. RVP looks like he needs a couple more games. Walcott looked terrific, but he’s played a bit more.

    DIABY IS SHIT!!!

He cant tackle or pass to save his life. He loses the ball easily and commits to many dangerous tackles.

He can never be our replacement to Flamini. If he’s the guy to fill the void, then we are doomed from the start.

I dont mean to be a pain but Diaby is bot good enough to play in Arsenal’s central midfield because his vision isnt good when he is pressurised, his tempo is slow thus will slow us down, range of passing isnt special or excellent and his tackling success rate last year was less than 25%

It seems like a midfielder is close to joining. Not sure how true the news is so don’t ask me.

Anyway, the game was a positive one. Much better than yesterday’s if you ask me. Adebayor knows he has to work hard to win back the fans’ support. So it wasn’t that surprising that he did most of the hardwork.

Real Madrid seem tired. Very tired. I expect them to be more threatening to be honest so overall, it’s a great experience for the young lads.

Wilshere nearly made one for Arsenal and before he did that, he sort of glided past a dominating Salgado. Nice move from Jack!

To sum it all, I think Wenger expected the outcome of this cup, as he might have thought that his firs teamers aren’t up to the mark yet in terms of match fitness. I do expect Arsenal to perform much better in the Ajax Amsterdam Tournament now because by then, our match fitness level should’ve improved to a much higher level, which will enable them to fight for a group stage place in the UEFA Champions League.

Notable mentions today should go to:
    i) Adebayor,
ii) Denilson – Saw some notable improvements but still need to work on the defensive side.
iii) Walcott – He’s still better on the right side at the moment
iv) van Persie – Saw a lot of glimpses of his old self. He just has to keep himself match fit and from any injury.
    v) Sagna and Clichy – We have the best in the league. Top class.
vi) J.’s favourite Wilshere – I personally like him, but too bad he was forced to play on the left THANKS to Eb-waaaaaay (Eboue)

Almunia didn’t have too much to do to be honest. And Dudek would probably be relieved for not conceding more than one. One more thing though. Diaby in the middle – not reassuring. He lost possession a couple of times due to dilly-dallying on the ball. I feel that if he fails in the middle, then it might the end of Diaby.

I don’t want him to go but he needs to improve a lot to get into this team. Ramsey looks better than him already even though he’s just joined the team not long ago.

    That’s all folks. :)

Great performance. The best thing about this squad is how the young boys seem to fit into the team seamlessly. Ramsey impresses me just as much as Wilshere and Vela has a decent chance at making an impact this season providing we find the best partnership for him. Arsenal’s approach play still has me a little worried but if we put in a last minute Cristiano Ronaldo bid then I see us having no problems :)

Well, while Jol is celebrating at le grove (lol), Wenger is hopefully asking how much De La Red is going for :)

I don’t think Diaby is going to partner Cesc, I think he is third choice (ala Bert last season). I think people might be too hard on him considering it’s what, his first or second friendly? I think he was terrific in the first half, he orchestrated the game well with Denilson and closed down the opposition with no problems. With it being a friendly, he lapsed in concentration and it lead to two major mistakes though – hopefully Wenger can coach some composure into him for the next two weeks.

Diaby wasn’t bad in central midfield, and kept his game relatively simple compared to what we’re used to from him. However, he dwelt on the ball too long at certain times, and tried to be clever in dangerous areas, subsequently giving the ball away, which lead to potential scoring opportunities for Madrid. With a run of games in the side and a word in his ear from our coaches, I believe these defects can be ironed out eventually. His tackling wasn’t bad either, although there’s also room for improvement there too. I don’t think he was at fault for the Sneidjer injury, which was unfortunate.

Thank you Lance. Some fans just pounce and jump on bandwagons, his tackle on Sneijder wasn’t bad, he got the ball, you can’t always tackle and not touch the man. He’s not our holding midfielder though. Nasri was good, held onto the ball, held off his man, used the flanks. We still need matches and confidence to really get us going.

Either way, I was glad to see Denilson play with more confidence. He’s slowly leaning to impose that midfield authority. Diaby doesn’t suit our team, he looks like a proper Serie A player, by hanging onto the ball forever, and couldn’t get the proper pass.

Young Wilshire rocks! Perfect, and natural player. Nasri again needs more games, and I’m sure he will be amazing as well.

Best comment so far. Took the words right out of my mouth. Best performance he has had in an Arsenal shirt. The work-rate, hunger, first touch, the way he held the ball up and the way he brought others into play was brilliant.

I don’t mind Diaby in the Middle because we have a chance to win the ball early and take out 2 opponent players from his dribbling skills but the question is can the team make use of that early ball as well as can Diaby pass the ball early and precisely before the opponents recover. Thats what Viera used to do for Pires, Henry and Bergkamp.

Diaby wasn’t awful but he did hold onto the ball a bit too long at times.

If we had sold Ade before pre-season for a good price I wouldn’t have been too upset, but he really is an important player for us now.I really hope van Persie gets a full season, him and Ade up front together would be amazing, they seem to have a perfect understanding with each other. I think this game showed us that Ade is definitely the main man for us now and he’s much more of an Arsenal type striker. It’s astounding how much he improves every year.

I think Arsene might be testing Denilson’s fitness because he played 90 minutes yesterday as well, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him given the nod because his passing is very impressive, but his defending is questionable (he gave away the free kick for the goal yesterday, even though it was offside).

Its way too early to be writing off players IMO. Eboue and Senderos have played more than enough games for me for us to have opinions on them for sure. I hope Diaby and Denilson oh and Djourou get a similar amount of opportunities to play in positions that suit them.

Saying that, I fully expect, well hope, Wenger spends some cash (shit, we’ve made nearly fifteen million in sell on clauses and Diarra’s transfer alone) on an experienced DM.

Considering the fitness levels, at this stage, this was a seriously good performance. It is not right to critise anyone or come to any conclusions, just yet..

Nasri did pretty well fitting into Wengerball. Senderos was almost faultless, which needs to be pointed out considering the stick he takes.

You have to think that Arsene must be seriously contemplating giving young Jack some playing time, this season. He would not have appeared as regularly, if there was no serious thought about playing him, when the real stuff starts. Ramsey will get games for sure.

I would have liked Simpson to have had some time in these matches because Ade is really the only ‘barge about’ forward we have, so there may be times when a player, like Jay could be useful. I haven’t seen much of him, so I would be interested in what you Guys/Lassies think?

there was so many plus in that game , 1. Ade’s performance was superb but he still needs to work on his skills and offside but in all I am happy with him and the fact that he kissed the ARSENAL shirt makes it sweeter

    2. Senderos looks calm for the very first time in so many years

3.Jack Wilshere’s performance gives one hope for the nearest ( not too far ) future.

    4. The team played like a team defending together and attacking in numbers.

cant wait for the season to start but I must confess we still need a more defender and some one in that 4 not comfortable with every one who has played that position in recent time aside Flamini.

Good performance today. Most importantly some more match practice for the big guns and another chance for the likes of wilshere and ramsey to stake a claim. Nasri might need a bit of time before he’s fully ready for the demands of the prem but he’ll get up to that standard soon enough.

One thing that Kenny Sansom kept on saying on the live audio was that he thought we need an out-and-out striker. Now I don’t agree with this because adebayor and RVP were linking up well and bendtner and vela are looking very promising. Plus we have eduardo to come back.

Now lets face the fact.Diaby need to play the whole season in the reserve league ad carling cup, there he could learn all he needs to before coming into the first team, otherwise, he would give Fabregas a good reason to leave arsenal. I would rather play ramsey and even eboue in DM than Diaby who holds on to the ball forever…so far, Denilson is in front for that position.

Diaby was rubbish he just ponders around like a snail. we dont need players like this in the middle. get someone of quality in there like ramsey or denilson to partner cesc. or sign an established midfielder like frings or makelele.

Nasri was good, I think he will settle in very quick, and he will do much better than hleb did for us.

I really hope that someone at Arsenal or amongst Adebayor’s family & friends has a quiet word in his ear about him kissing the badge. When he did it today after scoring the penalty, I almost wanted to throw up!

Jack is first team player (emirates Cup is for first team) his talent is magical so he will make up for physical weakness. The reason why he could be in the 1st team is he has confidence, character, courage, professionalism that is what young players of 16,17,18 lack but he has in abundance.Ade was the best he played for the shirt not for himself.Van was okay,Densilon was very good maybe in the midfield to partner Fab,Diably failure was about match fitness his second game fewer than all players,Nasri was okay Vela was yet again awesome he will be part of the team because Van,Eduardo wont play the hole season great dribbler

whole defence – looked solid, two best fullbacks in the league, outstanding

nasri – looks like an arsenal player, he will fit in perfectly, kept ball well and once he gets too no his team mates im confident his end product will be a million times better than hlebs. IMO he looks like a cross between hleb and reyes. Hleb was clever but no end product. Reyes was dumb n could only run fast lol but he scored. Nasri is clever quick and willing to shoot.

CM’s – denilson looked much improved and u cud tell he had played more games than diaby. Still after seeing Song at the african cup of nations i think he could be the answer. Diaby is quality though dont doubt him.

Theo – brillant running and willingness to close oppostion down. always willing to shot and he is starting to learn how to effectively use his speed.

Adebayor and RVP – Great link up. RVP is a maverick a true genius with a ball at his feet and adebayors strength and speed compliment him brilliantly. Both ijury free and they = goals.

Jack, Aaron & Vela – THE FUTURE. Class. All so far ahead of other players there age in terms of maturness, ability and (especially jack) strength. they are all willing to mix it with seasoned pros and jack and aaron love a challenge!

    Exciting times

I think the team that strated today is probably pretty close to the one that will start the season, apart from Kolo, Cesc oh and Gareth Barry. Oh no, Ive let the cat out of the bag now…………

Diaby is good,i dont agree with people who slate. The thiing is most of you don’t judge for yourselves but u read what others say.Diaby was good apart from two mistakes he made by holding the ball for too long and they took it away from him.He was brilliant. He is good going forward and also tackling though he needs some improvement. And some people forget that he hasn’t been playing cm for for long,he needs to get back his fitness as well……denilson is tidy,i like him….jack is something else…theo for me,he has stamina now,he is not bullied as they used to last season,he has worked on his game tramendously….nasri needs some games and confidence to get going……..vela, what a player!! he wil even get better……..ramsey, is top class, his passing is up there!!…….ade tried……..van, we do need this guy to be fit through out the season..if he is fit we are lifting the trophy….(wwith eduardo and rosicky) Gallas palyed so well, he commanded the back well,……clichy and sagna are priceless.senderos!! poor boy!! i like him though!

Guys What did you think of that triple 1-2 with Ade and van Persie!!! Delightfull ha?!! Too bad Walcott didn’t score but I appreciate that he tried the shot instead of pulling it back again. Shows that our players are more and more willing to shoot. Tomorrow I’m gonna watch the rerun of the match :D So many positive things to draw from this match. I have to say it again Eboué was rubbish and Diaby too slow! Especially Jack Wilshire’s run where he passes Javi Garcia or Miguel Torres I can’t remember?!!

Magneto throw up in your The sun magazine please!!! Adebayor stayed he’s gonna be great for us!!

It was Diaby’s first game in CM and he hasn’t played there for a long time but I hope he can get back to the way he was before he got injured and push on from there.

And as frank butcher said, it’s hard to see players like Lansbury, Randall and Simpson making it with players like Ramsey, Barazite and Wilshere ahead of them.

Mouhsin, i agree with your Magneto comment. Yes Ade is not a saint but he our player, thus all arsenal fans must back him becuase the squad will need all the backing that they can get NOT booing.

ha. i believe the revelation of the day was ‘surely’ rather that “surly wilshere”. unless he threw a tantrum that i missed?

sure diaby will get better- he has had less match practise than the rest and despite the frequent mistakes he was a physical presence in the middle which is what we need. denilson was good though- put in a lot of energy after playing for so long yesterday…

haha Dan, fans tend to be a bit fickkle. Ade’s behaviour was very disgusting this summer, but what has he done that other ballers hasn’t. He dropped hints of a possible departure to get more money, sounds like all footballers to me. Players like Scholes and Giggs are very rear indeed in this time and age. Even Fab4 will eventually leave. He won’t do it in the Ade tried to go about it though

I have always stated that Ade & drogba are the 2 best forwards in the world becasue they have some attributes that they bring to their respective teams which are very crucial. 2 Beast

Wilshere did well. He was but solid, with one nice run. This is way, way, way over the top. “Stunning Swansong Embarrasses[sic] Real Madrid” – hardly. Also, “an inch perfect through ball nearly released Vela” – if it was inch perfect, it would have ACTUALLY released Vela!

No problems with praising the younger lads when they do well, but let’s not blow it out of proportion (even though he offers way more than Eboue)

yeah i agree wiv the ade/drogba comment every team needs this type of striker…they both have everything…im loving wilshere…altho sum1 laughed at the messi comparision he certainly has similarities n at 16 imagine wen hes 20-like messi!!…cant really judge nasri wudnt b fair n very harsh on diaby…i still think djourou shud play ahead of senderos…eboue has had 2 many chances at rm hes areserve full bk definitely

I think that Senderos had a decent game, he played well in the 1. half but in the second he dallyed a bit with the ball..But still we dont need another CB.. Nasri was impressive! hes way better than Hleb, also Theo was magnificient.. and Im already ready to forgive Ade! He was fantastic and really worth of holding to.. his work rate was high, he defended and were all over the pitch, shame that he didnt score more than that beatiful penalty
