Arsenal On The Verge Of Signing South American Striker

Arsenal chief Richard Law flew into Salamanca this week and before he could even settle into his hotel, he came promising gifts for the Gunners partner club during the January transfer window.

Law operates as the link between both the Club’s, and speaking to local newspaper ‘Tribuna de Salamanca’ he confirmed that a deal is progressing well with a young forward, but details will not be announced until the signing is completed.

“A South American striker is very advanced, it’s very interesting but it’s not sealed. The aim is that he will continue his development with Salamanca.

“The player would be on the same level as Carlos Vela, we are talking through some options, they are looking at some videos, and we will see.”

Chairman Miguel Torrecilla has diverted attention away from the new arrival, telling supporters ‘it’s a long way to January’ and ‘We must keeper focused until the end of the season’.

Law is carrying out various checks on how the Academy and the arrangements are progressing, he has also had meetings with both Håvard Nordtveit and Pedro Botelho.

“My visit is to check on our players (Håvard and Pedro) I also wish to share a coffee with Miguel Torrecilla and Juanjo Pascual.

“Relations between the two sides are perfect, the players on loan are an example of that. I speak with the boys two-three times a week, on Wednesday I met Håvard for dinner, both he and Pedro are very happy here. What has pleased me most is that Salamanca are taking special care with their training.”

Richard took time to explain that UDS will not be particpating in the Emirates Cup this year, as Arsenal prefer big names to draw in maximum revenue. He also spoke about the dinner he had with Nordtveit, and his reasons for the surprise loan move.

“Howie’s concept is very simple. He had the option to stay in the Reserves and play in the Carling Cup, or come to Salamanca and fight for a place. He was very brave, and he made a good choice.”

“We are not worried that they are not playing so much, Cesc Fabregas did not play a lot for Spain, but he made a contribution when it mattered. They both have quality, so they will thrive with Arsenal.”

Salamanca’s push for promotion continues this weekend as they take on Castillion, Nordtveit will be looking for valuable minutes before going away Norway, Botelho will also hope for a recall.

Another striker? Vela, Theo, Bendtner, Eduardo, Van Persie and Adebayor are all in the first team as well as players like Afobe and Barazite. Surely it’s impossible for players like Fonte and Simpson to make it into the first team like this?

Wasn’t there a Brazilian 20/21 year old striker who said he was talking with us in the summer?

Nordtveit’s clearly very determined to get into the Arsenal team.

Maybe we will be implementing a 2-2-6 formation in the future?

At least we’re signing S.Americans in their most famed positions now!

Afobe is just 15 mate, you cannot consider him as an option for the first team yet. Fonte is only on loan anyway.

I think it’s encouraging were looking for talents, maybe it will be a striker who can play on the wing.

Afobe has only just turned 15 FFS. A long way to go before he’s challenging for a first team spot IMO.

Fonte is only on-loan, so there’s a chance there will be space for a new striker.

I’d like to know who this player is. JS, any ideas?

    We’re gonna sign Romarioooooooooooo!!!!!

Seriously tho, I know we seem well stocked with striking talent, but if this fella is destined to be an amazing player then rather us have him than another team.

Plus we all know Robin will get injured and Ade wilol demand another pay rise, so thays 2 off the books innit!!! :D

It would of been great if it was a Kerlon or whoever. It may be that Diogo fella from the summer who is 20 or 21 and would need to wait a few years for a work permit. It has to be said though Vela 19, Bendtner 20, Walcott 19 and the experienced forwards Ade 24 or 25, Eduardo 25 and the oldest Van Persie at 26, they’re all young and unless someone might leave in the future we don’t really need another striker. So i’d say it’s a really young player who we believe is gonna be huge in the future. The kid’s probably 17 or 18 max.

Why does it have to be Dentinho? He could be anyone! It’s not like I’m saying it is definitely not Dentinho, as it could be him but there are tons of other good young strikers in South America besides Dentinho.

I doubt it would be Falcao either. He’d surely either get a work permit or go to a La Liga side like Osasuna if not. Dentinho’s probably the most likely – but we never know in this game.

The South American sounds very interesting, but I suggest it could be a 16yo instead just like Vela when he first hit the radad….but completly off topic what about Vela and Walcott….is it me or they 2 peas in a pod….one left one right with amazing pace…just like Henry and Wilord…but friends!!…same age…for years to come….would you not paid 150k/w to watch the pair….at last a a great pair of arsenal strikers to sing about….radford/kennedy…woodcock/sunderland…
sorry JS but got carried away there….

It can’t be a 16 or 17 year-old. Only Portuguese clubs can buy Brazilians before they turn 18.

Unless the 17 year-old turned 18 by the end of the season, that is. Afterall, Pedro was allowed to move to Salamanca (but he couldn’t play) a few months before he turned 18 by his club in Brazil.

Neal: That depends on the club letting them go though. Similar happened with Pato at Milan.

South America is larger than Brazil or Argentina guys. But on the other hand, they seem the likely places. I don’t really know about young strikers in the area, the new FM hasn’t come out yet! And we aren’t hearing stories about the new Aguero record breakers or four thousand teams being after Pato or whatever like we did a couple years ago.
