Arsenal's Wilshere Invited To Join Gattuso's Agency

After becoming the youngest player to ever take to the field in the Premier League for Arsenal on Saturday, Jack Wilshere‘s profile is rising every day – so much so Italian Sports agency Pasqualin D’Amico are keen to add the diminutive play-maker to their prestigious clientele.

Pasqualin D’Amico are the biggest sports agency in Italy and boast clients such as Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Del Piero, Massimo Donati, Francesco Toldo, Nuno Gomez and the Giovinco brothers, Giuseppe and Arsenal target Sebastian.

Whilst the company is Italian based, owners and F.I.F.A licensed agents Claudio Pasqualin and Andrea D’Amico also have a number of players who have played in England on their books, including Mark Viduka, Thomas Helveg, Samuel Dalla Bona and Lorenzo Amoruso.

Wilshere, still only 16, caught the eye during the summer playing in the Atalanta Cup, a competition the Gunners Under 16’s won on penalties. Jack walked away with the Player Of The Tournament prize and impressed the locals with his creative instincts.

Just four months later he is now a first team player for Arsenal and quickly becoming a favourite amongst fans are pundits alike, something P&D are keen to capitalised on.

The fact a non-Italian has been offered the chance to be represented by one of the best agency’s in the world is fantastic on it’s own, but as Wilshere is just 16 and still a scholar it’s even more impressive.

They represent him, they are a company of agents. They will help him sort out contracts, media and marketing for any promotional things he may do.

Hopefully they don’t do what most agents do, promoting Arsenal players to Italian clubs, i.e. Flamini.

    Wilshere is OURS!

Yeah, I think a loyal english company that hopefully Wenger and the club advise him on will be better, not these italian money grabbers who’re only interested in getting the best deal for themselves.

Wilshire has the potential to be a world icon like Beckham. You do not have to be the best player in the world to be marketable, and as an Englishman he has a big advantage because the English media set trends globally. If Wilshire is advised correctly he will hang on to his intellectual property rights and do more of his sponsorship/marketing himself instead of giving huge cuts to an overseas agency.

I dont think Wilshere needs some big mafia agency to represent him. He has enough talent and class to be able to sit back and enjoy playing football at a great club who have taught him everything. What benefit could there be to signing up with an italian agency, unless he wants to start whoring himself out to the highest bidder.

    Keep your head Jack!!!

If Wilshere is advised correctly he won’t be concerned with these matters, he’ll his head down and become the world class player he could so easily become.

I can’t believe he hasn’t been snapped up long ago by one of the big UK agencies, like SFX. They must be kicking themselves if he signs for an Italian agency. Don’t they read the papers?

Its great to hear that a young englishman is attracting such prostigeous interest but I think grreat care is needed in his situation. It would be absolutey criminal for someone of his potential to be corrupted by too much attention. I think what’s needed is for him to disappear of the radar for a while like with walcott so he can develop his full potential. To this end if this company can help him then good but I do wonder…

    Frichie’s right keep your head.

Wilshere’s contract has an agreement which means it will turn professional on his 17th Birthday, so don’t worry about him going elsewhere.

As far as I’m aware, Wilshere is already on the books of the London based agency that represents Aaron Ramsey & Stephen Appiah amongst others.

Their name currently escapes me, but it came to light within the last few weeks on this site, when discussions about Arsenal possibly signing Stephen Appiah – and who ‘owned’ him – were taking place.

This Italian group would go completely against what Wenger wants. He doesn’t like his young players being in the lime light, he takes the attention off them so that the english media can’t build them up to knock them down so to speak. Although with Walcott you can’t exactly keep the papers quiet about him now though. I do think that Jack has the potential to be a world class player and think that the time for getting the sponsorship deals etc will come but for now he is 16, he should just be left to play the game he loves in the way he loves. He has got what another 20 ish years give or take in the game so why rush now.

    Club: Aston Villa
    Position: Midfield

That basesoccer site is a bit shit though, it lists Aaron Ramsey’s DoB as 31-Dec-69 and height as 1cm, and Jack Wilshere is apparently 0cm in height and 0kg in weight.

If its this or Worst Person Associated With Arsenal FC In A List That Even Includes Usmanov Darren Dein, i’ll take the Italians any day of the week. If it worked out well for Del Piero to become the biggest star of the world while staying loyal to the club he loved, I don’t see why we can’t take a similar path of lesser of two evils.

The club really need to just hire someone to give the academy an extra lesson in ‘Paul Scholes 101: How To Be Your Own Agent’ though.

Do people rejoice in being thick and then displaying it on this site??
Italian = bad , British = good er, since when did that simple equation apply universally? Um, Cashley Cole springs to mind!
Paul Scholes cannot tackle to save his life BUT he is recognised by most that know and understand the game as being the most talented English player of the last 10 years.
And Scholes is n’t ruled by glamour, greed etc if Jack is like him then we are on to a real winner.
I hope this agency thing does not scupper the professionnal contract. Because, JS, if you can’t sign one any purported pre agreement probably would not stand up. Even if it did you cannot force him to play for us. We would simply get (inadequate) compensation.

Fran Merida signed a deal while a scholar at Barca that when he’s 17, he signs a professional deal, he left them and now he’s with us, it can happen.

They’ll only have to pay a few million for him, but really, do we see Jack Wilshere decided to move anywhere else? He’s 16, already played in the Premier League for the best side in England and he is the future of this side, his future is laid on a plate, all he needs to do is turn up to training, put in some effort and he’s there.

Got tickets to the CC game against Sheff Utd, he better start!

Agree Dave – which other world class club will give him the opportunities he will get at Arsenal? Who is the best manager for a young player’s development? Money would be the only reason to leave and at 16 years old, that would be a mad reason to leave. As for the Merida comparison, he didn’t leave Barca for money, he left for footballing reasons – Having seen the fast-tracking of Fabregas he obviously saw that Arsenal would give him the chances his talent warrants regardless of his age.

Not happy agents are evidently all over him, and as if there arent enough gready sharks in britain we’ve got them coming in from all over.

Agents bring nothing but trouble, if i was a footballer i wouldent have one. They do nothing an accountant or legal adviser couldent, and do alot of stuff that both the others wouldent and that they shouldent.

But remembered Messi always having tiempos before he all of a sudden changed 2 f50s no way the pumas are more comfortable they’re like the Walcotts vapors so its possible his done a deal with puma especially if he persists with them over the season

Players need to be represented by an agent or a lawyer (or someone responsible). It’s a sad inevitability of the modern game. And it’s better for them that they’re represented by a good agency than a bad agency.

But I struggle to see how you’ve seen this as ‘good news’ or a sign of the player’s impact. It’s just more people trying to squeeze cash out of the game!
