Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.
In this update you can read about the following players in the following games.
Reports:
Nacer Barazite – Derby 1-1 Cardiff City (90 Minutes)
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester 3-1 Leyton Orient (90 Minutes)
Previews:
Havard Nordtveit & Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca V Alaves
Armand Traore – Portsmouth V Manchester City
Nacer Barazite – Derby County 1-1 Cardiff City
Derby’s confidence has taken a considerable boost in recent weeks, 4 points from 2 games has given them welcome relief after nearly a year without a League win, coincidentally there good form has come since Nacer Barazite has been the team, but if you listen to Arsene Wenger, coincidence’s do not happen in football.
The home faithful inspired County to a bright start, Miles Addision and Rob Hulse had efforts saved, before Cardiff found their feet. Peter Whittingham caused trouble from two corners, and it seemed the visitors were starting to get a foot hold.
But it would be Derby who would snatch the lead on the half hour mark, Barazite’s drilled corner bounced through a crowded penalty area, and Martin Albrechtsen was on hand to slot home.
Nacer was linking the front men and midfield from the right wing, but the Blues always remained a threat on break, however the first half ended with the Rams having a slight lead.
Barazite and Stewart crashed shots over with just minutes of the second half left, but the same only shaky Derby were caught out minutes later. Connolly’s tackle in the box gave a penalty, Ross McCormack converted from 12 yards to damage the fragile confidence.
The flamboyant Dutchman was once more the best player on the pitch, he whipped two corners and a free kick in, but nobody in a white shirt could get a head on it, leaving Paul Jewell more than frustrated on the touchlines.
It finished 1-1 leaving Derby still in the struggling position, a great 90 minutes for Nacer, he looks head and shoulders above the rest in the Championship.
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 3-1 Leyton Orient
Although Kerrea Gilbert was forced off after 34 minutes with a hand injury last weekend, the right back was deemed fit enough to continue his role in Nigel Pearson’s side.
A shaky couple of weeks had not helped their bid for promotion, but after just 10 minutes a left footed drive from Lloyd Dyer saw the Foxes in front.
Gilbert was having an almost uneventful afternoon, but after Matty Fryatt missed two chances to double the advantage, Adam Chambers caught the back line cold to level the scores. With seconds left of the half Matt Oakley nearly thumped City back in front, but both teams went in level.
A tireless second half seemed like it would end in frustration, until Matty Fryatt managed to strike the winner with just 2 minutes left on the clock. The goal deflated Orient, who conceded another via Andy King in stoppage time.
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth V Manchester City
Harry Redknapp admits he is likely to rotate ahead of Sunday’s clash with money bags Manchester City, the game leaves them just two days to rest following their exploits in the UEFA Cup, meaning Pompey are set to mix and match.
Armand was one of those Redknapp picked out as being in need for a rest, he is set to be replaced by Glenn Little who played 90 minutes against Arsenal’s Reserves on Tuesday.
Havard Nordtveit & Pedro Botelho – Salamanca V Girona
Havard Nordtveit and Pedro Botelho are in line for starts this weekend as UD Salamanca take on newly promoted Girona looking for a second successive three points.
A double from Salva Seville helped see of Xerez last week, and although the on loan Arsenal duo were left out, they are set to be recalled after impressing manager David Armaral. Nordtveit played in the starting lineup throughout training this week, whilst Botelho was switched several times in and out.
Full Reports on both Salamanca and Portsmouth will be available tomorrow afternoon.

Brazite is quality, they should have won the game though\
I think Traore could do well against City

Barazite’s doing really well, it’s clear to see he could be playing for a club like Hull or Stoke in the Premier League regularly. Good news for Nordtveit, he’s managed to fight his way into the starting line-up.
As has Botelho again, and by the way J very quick post! Especially seeing as you had to do a report which isnt Arsena!

Would like to see Arsenal put this game out of contention and then play Vela and Ramsey just to see how close they are to premier league football.
I would like Walcott to run rings around this slow Bolton team

Hi JS, just want to say that im suprised more people aren’t excited by barazite from what ive seen he is a very classy, explosive talent but he seems to be overlooked somewhat by the fans on here. In your opinion do you see him as more of a striker then a wide man? also i can’t really see him making it to the first team until adebayor and van persie move on as bendtner, vela and walcott seem to be ahead of him.
Barazite is really good..it will just be a matter of time he will going to be playing for arsenal first team no doubt about that..
I personally hope Nacer continues to develop as a winger/wide midfielder. As “barazite” said, we have a lot of depth and young talent at striker at the moment (don’t forget Eduardo) and without a sale or two he’d have quite a pecking order to wait behind. As much as I love Rosicky it’s hard to say if he’ll ever be the same again, which really only leaves us with Nasri, the suddenly impressive Eboue and Walcott (although Wenger claims he will become a ST). Just feel we have more of a need there, and I hope the comparisons to Pires can come to fruition for Nacer.
