Simpson Trusts Wenger & Pedro Speaks About Penalty

Arsenal striker Jay Simpson has put his future in the hands of manager Arsène Wenger, admitting he is happy to go with whatever the Frenchman decides is best.

Simpson was speaking after the Reserves 2-3 defeat against Chelsea, and a whilst he had said he didn’t want to play for the second-string again, Jay is willing to do anything to forge a career for himself with the club he supported as a boy.

“If the Boss would like me to go out on loan again this season then I will do. If he needs me to stay I’ll stay. Like everybody, I just want to play, especially after playing all of last year. But it’s down to him and I’m happy to be at Arsenal.”

Although the transfer window has shut, players can still be loaned out so it’s not yet certain that he will remain with the Gunners this season despite being handed the number 50 shirt, and being named in the Champions League Squad.

In other news, Arsenal defender Pedro Botelho has come out and spoken after his last moment handball cost Salamanca two points last night against Sevilla B. The 18-year-old was big enough to come and face the media after the fixture, and slammed the referee for making a decision which seemed harsh.

“We cannot do anything. We had the lead and the points and then a decision like that when we thought we had the job done, is hard to take. I did play the ball with my hand, but it was off a rebound, it was not intentional. Of course, i have no intention to give away a penalty.”

“The team controlled the game and we feel unhappy that the referee has removed us from such an important three points. It has been a major setback and maybe he [The Referee] does not understand the cost to the club.”

His captain Raul Gañán was close by and came out in full support for Pedro, also offering angry comments towards the officials.

“It was a huge blow because there was no intent. Botelho took the ball on his chest and then off his hand. The referee should not have pity on Sevilla, it was clear to me he had intentions to give them (Sevilla) a penalty all game.”

i really hope simpson can make it at arsenal, but with so many quality strikers ahead of him i see it being a real challenge. unless one of our strikers is sold, which i just dont see happening.

Yeah, he is a very down to earth guy and his love for the club shows through.

Simpson looks strong, has a good first touch, loves to be involved and seemed to have good awareness of the players around him, I think he is class and I hope he makes it at Arsenal. He should feature in both the cups this year, if he is not loaned out.

J, if Jay stays in the long term do you think it could be on the right, akin to how Theo is playing now?

A love for Arsenal didn’t help Hoyte in the end. Simpson looks like he has talent in bursts and fits, like Hoyte, I’d just hope he can learn to replicate it regularly.

You can be the biggest and nicest Arsenal fan in the world but if you are not good enough to make the grade hear then it does not matter and from what i have seen of him Jay Simpson would be better off playing first team football some place else because he will only ever be a squad player here at Arsenal IMO

    I like Simpson.

I think he offers us something that most of our other strikers dont.

Imo he seems like a bit of a cross between Kevin Campbell and Baptista, but I think he would be ideal on those cold, wet nights up north in the middle of the week in winter.

I really hope he gets a few chances this season, I think he could surprise us all.

A combination of him with Ade could be quite a handful imo.

Arsene Wenger has a very different view Kent, he has offers to let him go but has decided to keep him, i think that tells you need to know about Jay talents.

Samuel – Yes very much so.

Too bad for Simpson that we have van (in order of class starting with the best) van Persie, Dudu, Adebayor, Vela and Bendtner all in front of him… is there a possibility for him to play on the wing like Walcott?!!

Wenger has sold players like Pennant , Bentley , Sidwell and its amazing how hes rejected bids for Jay I think because he still has not played a competitive match for arsenal he wanted to stay this year .And prove his worth I rate him , hes just different
