Arsenal defender Håvard Nordtveit proved the inspiration for Norway’s Under 19’s yesterday, as the Salamanca loanee notched a influential brace during the 4-2 victory over Slovenia.
Nordtveit is regarded as one of the most promising starlets in Norwegian football, and has subsequently missed Salamanca’s League fixtures due to commitments with his country. Things got off to an almost perfect start as Jo Inge Berget put the hosts into a lead, until Slovenia bagged two quick fire strikes to complete a comeback before the half hour mark.
With half time approaching rapidly, Håvard managed to snaffle the ball home from a corner to send the two teams into the break on level terms.
A nervous second period brought little chances, but Nordtveit crashed in a second with 6 minutes left. There was just enough time to seal proceedings, IK Start’s Mads Stokkelien adding his name to the score-sheet.

Does Havard have any real chance of making it at Arsenal? He seems to read the game well and has desent possitional skills but he IMO would need to bulk up a fair bit otherwise he would be to light weight for the Premiership. How would you rate his chances J im sure you have seen him play on a number of occasions???
When are the u18s report coming?
He can certainly make it, he is a fantastic talent and doing very well.
He has been playing in midfield for Salamanca, but i think his long term future has to be centre back.
Report coming soon :)
Thanx for your insight.Maybe Arsene has spoken with the coaching staff at Slamanca and wanted Havard to be played in a midfield role so as hes extreamly comfortable on the ball. That seems to be something that the manager likes his defenders to have.I have big hope for Kyle Barltey I think he could be very special and could be the answer to our defensive prayers in a couple of years.Wots your opionion?GREAT SITE!!!!!
The CB position is an interesting one. With Gallas Toure Djourou Song Silvestre and then Nordveit coming through, Bartley coming through, maybe even a revitalised Senderos coming back, we’ve got plenty of options there for some time to come. And hopefully they’ll even learm to defend corners!
We just need to nail that defensive midfield role. Is it possible Wenger sees Nordveit able to use more of his skills from there? Hence the midfield time at Salamanca.
jay What do ou think of jay simpson breaking into the england u19s?
Sorry i meant What do you think of Jay Simpsons chances of breaking into the England u19s?
He is 20 soon, and hasn’t been involved with England since Under 17 level. He needs to be playing really.
He did score a brace and I haven’t watched the game, but 2 goals conceded isn’t good.
Anyway, he is someone I have big hopes for. Tall defender, just what we want. Hopefully he makes it.
I saw the match and Nordtveit is a very good talent! his 2 goal was very good.
If anybody finds any highlights, feel free to post them :)
Håvard actually scored again yesterday. The Norwegian U18s this time won 1-0 away against Armenia…

All of Nordtveits three apps this month (against Slovakia, Armenia and Slovenia) were with the Norwegian U18 team.
