Arsenal Recall Nordtveit From Salamanca Loan Spell

UD Salamanca have confirmed this evening that Arsenal have recalled defender Håvard Nordtveit from his 6 month loan spell early, after becoming unhappy with the amount of playing time the Norwegian has received in recent weeks.

The 18-year-old has been forced to play in an unfamiliar central midfield role during his time with the Union, as Salamanca charged to the summit of the Segunda division. Yet After scoring three times in two games for Norway’s Under 19 team two weeks ago, it was expected that Nordtveit would be given more playing time, but that hasn’t materialised.

The Gunners link side crashed out of the Copa Del Rey last month, and manager David Armaral has offered no reassurances over playing time towards the business end of the campaign. Håvard was allowed permission to skip training this morning, where he met with Richard Law and his agent, before it was confirmed that the prospect would return to London.

UDS are keen to stress that the choice is mutual, and does not effect future loan arrangements between the two clubs. Pedro Botelho will remain in Spain until the end of the season, but will be joined in January by an unknown South American striker.

Nordtveit is due at London Colney tomorrow, where further talks over his future will commence. It’s expected that Howie will be made available for loan again, although a spell with an English outfit seems the best option.

The shock recall also means that he will be in contention to feature during the forthcoming Carling Cup clash with Wigan at the Emirates next week.

If you loan a player out you should say in the contract that he must play at least 45 minutes per game and in his prefered position other wise what is the point in loaning him out at all

I don’t think you could guarantee regular playing time for a loan player because that is not how football works if you are the clubs own players. Loanees need to get used to the competition they would face if they played professionally otherwise where is the incentive to improve?

I think that because Salamanca are riding high at the moment, they do not want to risk playing a youngster in such a key position hence the end of the deal. But I’m sure Havard would have still gained something from the experience however short the time.

Fail play to the lad, he was always mature about his approach and was willing to be patient and learn.

You sure he’ll be in contention? I’d LOVE to see him start the match but I can’t look past Djorou and one of Song, Silvestre or Toure (whichever one is seen least important to the first team really) playing. I’m sure he’ll be on the bench. Maybe we should pitch him to Tony as Sol looks like he can’t handle 90 minutes anymore.

The whole problem seems to stem from the fact that we have to offer 2 players, right? And this as yet unnamed striker won’t be 18 until January so we had to send someone for the time being until he went, so we saw Havard as well travelled, close to some first team football, if not yet with a top 4 team, and good defensive cover for a team we’d like to see push for La Liga? It didn’t work out but I’m sure there is no animosity and here’s to the futures of both le arse and la sala.

The problem with the kid hes not physically strong he really does have to go the gym properly coz if hes play against wigan against heskey and zaki we are gonna get battered. We need to give the kid time and he will be our daneil agger hes 6ft 1/2 has resonable pace looks really good in the air and is technically good

yup, agree. havard needs to bulk up a lot in coming months. prem league striker all very strong and if havard don’t muscle up, he would get bullied out of park. but i like his defensice awareness, at least he read the game better than most defender and position himself well. would like to see him get an action in carling cup but againts prem league opposition, might be too early and risky.

Very off topic, however the cunts threw the fuckin game. Un-fuckin-believable. 4-2 with 10 mins to go an we concede 2 goals then. Cunt Clichy stood on the friggin ball too long an then TRIPPED to concede possession and then the goal for 4-3. And then when leadership is needed from the CUNT Gallas he goes missing. 4-4……….Against Sp*rs………where Bentley scores a caracker from halfline. I’m seriously not watching anymore games. I will read reviews but not gonna watch Any more. What pisses me off is taht Wenger the brilliant but proud pussy wont buy Ne one with leadership skills in defence in January to save face. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT. Anyboddy but the Scum. I rather would draw with the MANCs. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Almunia showed why people don’t trust him. He is 100% to blame for the first two goals and his efforts in the other two were really poor. I would not mind putting Fabiansky in there as the League is out of our grasp anyway

on topic: i don’t give a fuck about this. now Howie will be loaned out to some other shitkickers or whatever. it’s not like he will be giving a chance ahead of those over-rated center backs that we have. HOWIE all the way, he is at least a decent guy.

ok,1 mistake, but he had bottled up bentley properly, how many crosses from that cunt in the entire match????
almunia was at fault in the 2nd goal,I bet 19 of the 20 goalies would have conceded the 1st one,it was a wonder strike, accept it my friends!!!

January south american striker could be 19-year-old Brazilian wonder kid Keirrison. The curitiba striker, tipped to be Brazil’s next big thing, is a free agent and has already attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

You people (who slate our defenders) are a sad bunch! I have to say that… everytime we concede goals because you blame the centrebacks. They played both very well yesterday and they deserve no slack. The only reason we lost this game is because of the wrong attitude and Wenger’s tactical mistake. First of all we acted very unprofessional, we though we won the game already. That’s the worst attitude you can have in a derby game, cause the game isn’t over untill the final whistle!! All the players are to blame of that, and frankly because of the unprofessionel comments of Ade and Cesc we deserved it! Second of all Wenger made some very bad substitutions. We were dominating them all night long on technique and passing ability and what does he do?!! He subs the one player that was retaining the ball the best (RVP) the player who made Hutton look like a third division player (Nasri) and Walcott who was playing against two leftbacks and still was giving them a hard time. The one thing I can’t apreciate is negative subs. Wanting to hold a result when clearly if we just played our game maybe if we brought in Vela who could run circles around the defenders we would have won the game for sure! I am happy that Wenger is taking the positves out of the game cause we played well but the attitude was very wrong. I am glad he realised he made mistakes too and I hope he never ever bring in that many defensive subs again!

“A shocking defender at reserve level”
What? Have you ever watched the reserves. The reserve team contains players like Rene Steer and Gavin Hoyte and yet you call Nordtveit shocking. Some of his performances for the reserves were immense last year.

Thanks JS, you’re always the first to report the latest news about our kids. From the reserve games I’ve seen him play, Nordveit does look like a strong prospect in a position where good options are definitely needed. Hope the boy gets another loan spell in a mid-table PL club, like Traore now. JS do you think this is possible? Or are we talking about the club sending him abroad again?

Bring the Norwegian back, we need some spine to our C.C. squad if we’re going to make a decent run this year. And yeah, I only blame a single goal on the center backs, and another on the GK. However, if we had a defensive spine Arsene wouldn’t of resorted to “adding defensive strength,” by removing Nasri/Walcott for Eboue/Song, which backfired quite spectacularly. Anyways, the lad can get out of the Spanish sun and get used to the doom and gloom in the LDN.

Why does everyone blame Gallas? He’s been fantastic in the last two games. The problems were the negative substitutions, the complacency, and the room our midfield allowed their players between the defence and midfield.

As for Nordtveit, I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays in the Carling Cup because we lost Song to injury in the last one and Wenger wasn’t happy about that. Speaking of Song, he should’ve started yesterday, he played very well against West Ham but Wenger never rewards or punishes form.

:hehe: The average Nordviet could get nowhere near Salamanca’s first team, but people on here think he could walk into a mid table pl team, clueless or what.I don’t think any championship club manager would take take him on loan in this stage of his career,Certainly not to be first choice cb.
