Arsenal's Watt & Henderson Suffer Terrible Injuries

Arsenal youngsters Sanchez Watt and Conor Henderson are set to spend the next months on the sidelines, after the pair suffered shocking injuries during Septembers fixtures.

Henderson suffered cruciate knee ligament damage on his Reserves debut at Portsmouth, leaving the Ireland Under 19 International spending his 17th birthday in agony. Conor had looked impressive during the 5 minute cameo, yet following a jostle with Glenn Little in the corner, the elegant play-maker ended the evening by being carried off the pitch.

“I came on as a substitute and was really looking to make a good impression on my debut. With about five minutes of the game to go I went to make a turn but my boots got stuck in the turf. My knee then twisted and the damage was done.”

With the surgery now complete to correct the problem, Conor faces 6-9 months on the touchlines looking to build up his fitness, with pre-season training the firm objective for his return.

He will not be left in the gym alone however, as live-wire winger Sanchez Watt will also be spending time working on his recovery, following a broken leg against West Ham.

The injury came about after a clash with the Hammers goalkeeper during the 2-1 victory at London Colney. Watt’s leg became trapped during a 1-1, resulting in Sanchez’s momentum causing his tiba to fracture.

A fractured tiba is not the most complex of leg breaks, but it looks set to rob Steve Bould of the versatile starlet for around 3-6 months.

These two major problems – combined with several little issues, leave Bould struggling for options ahead of tomorrow’s Under 18 encounter at Fulham. A full Match Preview of that game will be available later this evening.

It’s hard to say, Conor looks a brilliant talent, but it will be difficult for him with all the players ahead in his position.

Sanchez probably just has the edge.

brilliant technique, vision, creativity and long term injuries that keep them out the team when they’re most needed – they’ll fit right in with the best of the arsenal first team; on the injury table. haha. oh well. on a serious note best of luck to both of them and i hope we see them tearing apart the opposition in arsenal colours before too long. best wishes to the lads.

Good luck to both the lads, horrid injuries to have at the start of your career. Lets hope the vigours of youth allow them to overcome these set backs!

I’m sorry to say it but I think Handerson’s career at Arsenal is just the same as over. Those kind of injuries are extremely hard to overcome and can hunt players for the rest of their careers. Having said that, I hope that the lad is not listening to what I am saying and just focuses on getting back to playing football. The process of healing is 95% about your mentality. The main thing is to stay focused, think positive and believe that you are coming back. If he doesn’t believe he will play again he might as well quit now.

These are sad news for Arsenal and the lads but let’s just send them our best wishes for a speedy recovery and a future success.

you speak few true words but at this stage of their career young players dont even consider giving up as their careers haven,t even began and the passion to play football again at any level takes over any second thoughts i would know as i had a hip strain which could potentially prevented me from walking but even when i was limping i always kicked a ball as much as i possibly could because it was my passion and i didnt even play 4 arsenal lol good luck 2 him anyway

I do not see why Connor Henderson should not come back because cruciate ligament surgury has come on leaps and bounds nowdays and if they want it done right they should send him tp colorado to see Dr Steadman because he apparantly the best out there in regards to knee surgens

Aaron ramsey sets up church with an easy pass 2-2 ramsey is by far the most technical player on the pitch but wales have to give the ball to him alot more if wales wanna score. Ramsey is looking good,

The Wales U21 team should be working constantly to get Ramsey on the ball – which they haven’t done in this half. He’s the welsh Riquelme!

Stone, I’m shocked at your negativity. The great Bobby Pires has come back from 2 cruciate ligament injuries in his career so I really don’t see how a young player like Conor couldn’t do the same. I wish both Conor and Sanchez well and hope to see them back with Arsenal soon.

Arsenal youngsters Sanchez Watt and Conor Henderson are set to spend the next months on the sidelines

–This is bad grammar J. Something can’t be plural if it’s next. It’s ‘next month’ or something else, like ‘the coming months’ etc. Still an excellent blog but nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

Shame about the lads, hope they make friends with Tomas and Eddy, I’m sure they could school them on the art of putting the ‘pro’ in pro evo. And then all 4 to come back to play world class football for Arsenal. ;)

Sad to hear of these injuries to anyone but it’s even worse for the kids when they are aiming to impress for contracts and trying to learn and grow at the same time.
Hope they both get back a.s.a.p.

Deacon is very impressive, he is only small, but very strong, and a superb reaction finisher.

I’d like to see him in the Reserves (better level) before i judge on whether he can make it, but all the signs are very promising.
